Damn that's an accurate reading! 2.6 miles away!!! That's amazing broski
Damn bro clean your damn car out man lol.
This video is literally therapy
Clipping your all system with volume all the way up
“That shit had my car shaking the other day”😅 5:30
I am so glad you played the trippy song thanks bro
For your break in period, you just set your amp gain to half of what your sub setup is intended for (Ohms Law). The subsonic should always be set to your box tuning; whoever taught you to lower your subsonic filter is causing you to ruin your subs. The SSF is there because the enclosure is ported.
So just to clarify, if your Ohms Law calculation is 30-set your gain to 15 for the break in period.
@@DTW-bx2vy That’s insane. Do you have 15’s or something? Or is your box just huge?
Who told you you have to tune your amp for half the power
@@beardedforlife3740 Taken from SkarAudio FAQ - To begin you will want to make sure that the settings on your radio are flat or at zero. You should never have to use “bass boost” or “loudness” with a properly tuned system so please keep these settings off. You can definitely use the subwoofer level on your radio for fine tuning. You’ll want to get your system tuned to a good sounding level that is loud but with no distortion or popping. Take your time. Listen carefully to the sound being produced by the subwoofer(s). Once you have found your ideal level, drop your settings (gain) to half of that. For instance, if you are at half gain, drop it down to a quarter gain. This is your “break in” setting. You will want to keep these settings for the first 24 to 36 hours of actual play time on the new subwoofer(s). We find that it is usually about a week of regular music listening in a daily driven vehicle. After those initial 24 to 36 hours; you can retune your system back up to the original setting. Your subwoofer(s) is now broken in and ready.
NOTE* this is the absolute simplest explanation of only one method to break in your new Skar Audio subwoofer(s). There are much more involved methods that require specialized tools but, this method is a basic suggestion. Let us know if you have any other questions.
@@etrnlexe definitely don't need to reduce your gain. You can set the gain where you'll be running it at and just keep the volume down on the headunit. It's basically the same concept without the need to tune your amp multiple times
@@beardedforlife3740 Kinda defeats the purpose of upgrading your sound system in the first place if you’re going to lower all of your other speakers...
24-36 hours of low volume would be annoying while driving around. I’d rather have half sub power with my preferred listening levels on my other 4 speakers in the car which handle everything past 80Hz. 600 watts (half of my tuning) has kept me satisfied on 12’s. I’ll be going full power soon, but to each his own.
Gain knobs are not volume knobs. Purpose of a gain is to match the input source signal voltage with that of the head unit. You will clip signal and run dirty power to your amp
Also subsonic filters filter out unwanted frequencies.. you have a lot to learn young grasshopper
That’s what I was thinking about the subsonic being so low for break in. That’s like the last thing you’d want for break in.
^^^
Man you're talking a foreign language to that kid.. you see his wiring? 😅
@@UnburdenedByWhatHasBeen lol...my thoughts exactly! 🍝 wiring....🐀 nest
I think they were exaggerating just a little bit when your neighbor said you're shaking her house. Maybe if @SteveMeade had his Tahoe parked in your driveway, that would shake the neighbors house, But you have a lot to go before you're shaking a house at 1800' away bro. But that's not bad for an entry level beginning system. And also when you upgrade your mids and highs, it will automatically make your bass sound cleaner.
Very nice setup, but I would like to say that running your base turned up at all can burn your amp up and fry it. I would highly recommend turning your base completely down like on my head unit it goes to -6 that’s where it’s at and adjust your amp and bass knob and you’d be surprised at how much harder it actually hits. But not hate at all very nice setup
so you recon turn my bass down from my car stereo and have my bass high from the knob and amp??
@@jesusvargas5446 no you keep bass boost at zero, all eq settings at +0 on head unit, turn your head unit up until just before it distorts (more accurately done with an oscillo scope) than use that same principle to turn your gain up until the sine wave again starts to distort then turn it back down until clean. that is now your maximum safe output
I just god damn drilled a hole in my firewall there was no hole big enough for 4 gauge.. lol good thing my kit came with a grommet
Nice and deep bro 👌
Demo starts at 7:00
Definitely a noob you’ll learn tho
Those subs are only 1200 watt not 2400. The 2400 is max rating and that doesn’t matter, you only care about the RMS power of anything.
yes i am aware of the difference between peak power and rms thanks for the reminder
@@thisguy9412 Hey just making sure man. I watched two review videos of these subwoofers in a row and both guys called them 2400 watt subs.
@@chrispeters1020 gotcha. no hate my man i just call them 2400w because that's how they're advertised.
@@chrispeters1020 that's because they are 2400watt peak subwoofers & on another note peak power does matter for certain applications that you clearly haven't tapped into, but on the contrary they also wouldn't put the peak power rating on subwoofers if peak power was irrelevant. Educate yourself & keep educating sir
@@BoobeeMyles What type of applications would that be than?
And also, if peak power does matter, how come Sundown Audio doesn't list a max power rating of their subwoofers, they only list the important RMS rating. Stay educated.
ur killing ur electric
Doesn’t damage electrical.
Dude how the hell did you get that box in there? I've got a 2012 and can't get my Skar box in there.
Take the trun guard off and this latch and it should slide right in
Trunk guard*
I got the box into a 2013 Malibu with no problems, just a tight fit
Dude just put one side in and turn it
@@ryan.710 I got the same issue couldn’t get em to fit I took everything off
Big three upgrade and a second battery. Maybe a high output alternator. Will be the biggest difference maker. Use a voltmeter and ohms law calculator to set your amp gains correctly. Good head unit that won't distort the signal. No line output converter to distort. You be on point...
Headunit doesn't really matter except for the output voltage. I agree with the big three and alt but this setup wouldn't need a second battery
@@beardedforlife3740 I would get a second battery for the back, that way he doesn’t have to have his lights dimming if he runs his setup straight from his back battery to his alternator. But get a agm battery
@@ironknight1208 just a single AGM up front will be enough for that setup with a decently sized alternator
@@ironknight1208 homies running one amp… lol
When u first installed your subs were they turning off and on while beating them ?
What in the meth did I just watch😂
Posted a month ago how’s your alt doing
Got some lil flex going on. Do you recommend this box? I have a Rockford 600 watt amp now with the terminator 12’s and I want a bit more.
😅Did you change them? I just have the mtx and I'm about to buy these
Tht song is freaken leke!
did you need to upgrade the battery or alternator in the malibu?
*Ohms Law is very important!*
You don’t just set the gain to where you think it’s good “for now” half way doesn’t mean it’s not clipping. Generally most amps don’t need to be half way need to use an oscilloscope. Turn bass on 0 or negative send a 40hz test tone with an oscilloscope hooked up unplug the speaker wire hook the oscilloscope to the outputs and when you do that 40hz test tone slowly turn the gain up until you see clipping “when the curve starts to flatten on top or bottom”. And always use about 75% of your head unit especially being stock they distort
Definitely wanna upgrade the head unit and some speakers.
When was the last time you washed your engine bro
Good job. Knowledge is power.
If your headunit has rca lineouts you dont need LOC. If your amp has hi level inputs you also dont need a loc.
It doesnt he used his factory

Sounds like shi 😭 on the outside
Hey bro do you have any light dimming issues?? I have 2 10s 1600 rms pair and my lights dim out crazy yours seem to be fine
the interior lights were dimming it a little in the vid i think XD
@PATRICK MCGREW your voltage can be good and still have lights dim. I'd change the alternator
I had that problem but I switched to less and they don’t dim at all since less power consumption and they are way brighter
Dude subsonic filter is for tuning the amp to match your boxes tuning. You should’ve paid to get that set up if you are unfamiliar with the settings. Not being rude but damage to equipment that way always results to bad reviews of otherwise good products. Do you homework before you jump into something.
Nice do ur amp get hot ???
Go with a JL Audio Loc 22 it will be night and day difference compared to that line out converter you have
And I would definitely run a secondary battery in the trunk or else you're going to fry your alternator or more
You need to do a big 3 upgrade, upgrade your head unit, speakers and get a 4ch amp.
Type rebassed or decaf on youtube .32 hz your welcome ,.Now you have the best bass songs
Yo question how big is the box?
lol dont ever give amp settings advice again. Sub sonic has nothing to do with break in. Its based on the tune frequency of the box. Also your gain should definitely not be half way up. You are probably WAY over powering those subs. Look up how to set amp gain with a multi meter and do it correctly.
You won't overpower those subs with that amp. Just cranking the gain up is a bad idea though. Definitely will lead to clipping the amp and frying something
Faces the subs inwards. It sounds way better
No it doesn't 😐
@@AudioEuphoria080ohh I understand, you must have shitty subs then huh.
@@lilbuggie9094 lol tell me you don't know how low frequency bass works without telling me you don't know how low frequency bass works

Hey bro I know you want to hurry up and put your system together but try to clean up your wires cause I would hate for your car and system to catch on 🔥
Get a bumper kit for spare tire, like them TX Boyz🤣😂😅
how much was the build in total?
Does it have 2 voice coils on both sides??
Interesting I have a 2011 I might do this
That's great n all but your lights dimming that much cant be good, you gunna want an xs power agm at the very least.
You don't need an expensive xs for this setup
Is that your blinker 😂 jus joking need another battery and a big 3 bro looks like it’s slapping tho
For all the people who think subs and the “dimming “ can cause damage I fell bad for you🤣🤣 . Cannot cause electrical damage .
Bro what in the Mickey Mouse shit do we got here
bro how the fck did you fit them in the car😂
How did u make those fit I had the same subs in a 2010 malibu

Plz lmk
Way too close to the rear lid
Yes your wrong! It’s needed if it’s stock deck
Yea! You need a little help! Your going to damage your subs subsonic is set wrong!
Looks bad your car is gonna catch fire wired like that
Malibu’s are hard to flex ntg

What's with all the maretts?? Household wiring gets them not car audio man.. solder all your joints and heat shrink them.
Wtf is wrong with your wires so dirty that's how you catch on fire 🤣

Does anyone know how he got those skars in that trunk I can’t get them in my trunk at all
me either bro
@@icytg-2281 yea dawg long story short is they never had fit in the trunk so if you got this car I’d recommend getting a custom or building a custom box but don’t buy no skar prefab box unless it’s a single 12
You do not need to be telling people what to do. This is how you ruin your stuff
Will these hit hard with my lil 1500 watt hifonics amp?
1500 watts should be more than enough, minimum you would need a 1200 watt amp, so you should be fine
They'll definitely take a 1500w amp
This is a joke right??? Not even gonna see the potential of ur skar setup until u get rid of tht line converter, factory deck, tht dinky 4ga power and geez do the big 3 convert
You have no idea what you’re saying
4 ga is good enough for these 0 would be good too but might be pointless
Is there even any benefits of doing a big 3 on a FACTORY ALT?
@@phenomfacemob1011not really tbh. I would do a big 3 on a high output alternator then on a factory alternator

trippie red song name?

Need to upgrade your electrical stuff battery altenator big 3 ext or U might kill your altenator and battery ect
Doesn’t effect electrical at all. Everything will be fine . Dimming doesn’t do anything bad
Man I’m old school now coming back for first time in a while.. I can’t believe here this has gone lol.. if we had the shit available today omg…. You don’t run power through the firewall of a vehicle.. it runs under the vehicle most of the way where there is drain plugs/grommets to come up into the passenger/cargo area easy while staying away from interference from factory wiring.. seriously when did everyone start running shit through factory steering or electrical locations in the firewall lol..
As for subsonic you set it as you should period and as for break in you need to run clean power at max..
Oh no my man just come out with the Walmart line converter.. ok I see where we going here I’m wasting my time here..
No it doesn’t matter you losing 1/2 what you paid for with a line out converter 🤦♂️.
Omg it gets worse.. no.. you tune with base know all the way 100% on the knob.. set eq how you like wo the sub.. then adjust the gain to the max volume you can get wo distortion on the rest of the system.. I can hear the clipping through a phone speaker.. this bad.. you getting bad performance and going to fry that coil..😅
And when the hell did everyone start facing everything to the rear lol.. sound is a product of deflection.. it falls off after hitting a hard surface. Sound waves make no audible sound till they hit a solid surface. In short you get more output facing forward bouncing off the windshield… drivers and ports need to always face forward for max performance unless running a bandpass setup.. then only the ports need to face forward..
For fuck sake I missed 15 or so years in this and the industry now has 9x9 3k legit amps for a couple hundred.. legit drivers for a couple hundred that can handle 1-2k power.. and yet somehow we forgot the basics?
Calm down boomer, let the man do his thing. We all started somewhere not knowing much about car audio.
Since always. Apparently you were the ones I was fixing DIY stereo installs for because it started a fire or sounds like crap or I'm not sure what happened, it was working then it popped and wasn't working. Always run a power wire through the firewall and protect it with a heavy duty grommet. I mean we aren't called professional installers for no reason. We know our industry like no other. I use to do installs over 20 years ago and nothing has changed installation wise, just the equipment.
@@t3chninja_official doing it for 20 years the wrong way doesn’t help your argument lol.. there are multiple locations to run wires up from under a vehicle that are factory provided that doesn’t include putting additional holes in the firewall..
The reason your not sure what happened is cause you were taught incorrectly and installed incorrectly for 20 years
@@fishrrelaxing9361 So I guess when the largest car stereo installer in the Mid-West trains you then they were wrong. Get the F out of here with your BS. We ran all of our through the firewall using heavy duty grommets and either down the center counsel or along the door under the plastic panels and RCA on the opposite side. Go read any article on running the power wire for the amplifier and they all say to go through the firewall. I can't make this shit up but you can apparently. There's doing things the safe correct way then there's your way. LOL.

My 1200 watt amp bumps harder
What’s the name of the song at 10:05?
That mf slamming, just need a compacitor or bigger alternator.
So many rattles man. Sound quality over loudness. Line that car with some deadening mat.
Bro you need to clean your engine bay out
He needs to clean that thrash out his car, 👀 like a dumpster 😝
Lots and lots of distortion on the bass no good at all 👎👎👎👎👎
I’m pretty sure it’s the mic bro, I get y’all are tryna hate but atleast think before you hate💀🤦🏾♂️
First off you're going to need a 2 Farad Capacitor. When you see your lights dimming like that... that means you are cooking your alternator. Secondly... Did you wire your 12v remote into a fuse box? WTF? Thirdly... wire management is really bad my guy. Lastly, That amplifier mounted like that with 0 shock absorption... will cause the vibrations to break your amp. The small resistors and capacitors in the amp will break free either at their terminals or solder points.
Fixes:
1. Buy a 2 Farad Capacitor to take the load off your car's Alternator(Fixes the light dimming)
2. Properly run your 12v remote into the back of the factory unit. Watch a video on UA-cam and take the time to properly run the wires or you will really cause damage to the car's electrical system.
3. Properly install your wires... like drill holes, seal them... route door speaker wire properly... Use higher quality audio cables than the Amazon specials. Look at some kicker Audio Wiring kits.
4. Remount your Amplifier with adequate shock dampening/absorption. Usually some dynamat enclosure with some padding on the mounting points.
Buy a high-quality EQ. Those subs sounded like there was a lot of distortion. Buy a sound meter and check your readings.
I got the same LOC. nvx. 17$ Amazon
