Some would build a new box but you did okay. You gave the old box a second life. You also saved in buying building material and less labor. It's amazing that you found the speaker parts. You are very skilled in your soldering, too. Your speaker knowledge is great, too. Good job.
thankl you
I'm listening to this video on my 80''s fisher stereo system I bought a few months ago at an auction for five dollars. The system had been in storage since 1992.
Kenwood Floor Speaker with a Peavy Sub-Woofer? Yeah...Someone Really Nailed This!
I’m really impressed, you’ve literally rebuilt the drivers and cones, I didn’t even think that was possible. Opened my eyes to diy!
You can buy speaker recone kits all over the internet pretty cheap. People have been doing it for a long time.
If I was going to restore the speakers, I would have made another box for the speakers
Or at least 2 coats of filler, MORE sanding and new veneer. Yeah, a new box would be easier.
Truo
Restoration is about taking the old thing and making it like new again. Another box is just transferring from one to another (from the old one to a new one).
The box needed a lot more work to look like new and the crossover is not working right.
Souldear Ondehgo with that said somethings are to far gone to be restored that particle wood had been wet for far too long it’d be like making a speaker box out of sponges
next time use tolex instead of plaster/paint to finish the box, and leave the coil shims until all the adhesive is set. that being said; I think it's amazing that you got it to work again! great job!
Horrible paint finish
I agree
Having restored a set of jbl l50 not in any close condition to this. It takes so many countless hours of sanding and material and more material to get "swollen particle board "level and looking original again. Close to impossible. I feel his pain.
This took 8 hours of ball sweating work

Внешний вид корпуса после реставрации вызывает желание отнести эту колонку туда, откуда она была взята.
И его голос был таким, какой он был. Это звучало как потрескивающий треск. Не было смысла в этом ремонте
Скорее отнесут на e-bay: колонка кенвуд, не бита, не крашена, домашнее хранение...
Here is a nice trick that I have used on restoring old speakers that I use in my workshop or garage, spray the box with a rubberized truck bed liner, it not only hides all the flaws but it makes the cabinet almost indestructible, I have even used rock guard but it is not quite as good.
Don't forget to also do the speaker cones, they become indestructible with much moe bass too!
Careful though, most truck bedliners have toxic properties and are not a good idea for use on anything indoors, especially if you have kids or pets! There are some safer alternatives that might work on a speaker box, like Lizardskin, but you'd have to try that out yourself. I highly recommend researching the toxicity of ANY materials you use for ANY restoration/build project especially when intended for indoor use. And "disklamer" - unless the cone is very weak and wobbly I wouldn't think coating it with something that weights it down would make it "bassier" it will just slow it down and cause it to create less accurate bass. To increase the output of nearly any woofer, supposedly adding mass(another magnet usually) to the magnet in place will work, but I haven't tried that yet and there are differing opinions on it.
Корпус надо было просто выкинуть, ибо разбухшее от влаги ДСП восстановлению не подлежит.
полностью согласен! да еще и зашпатлевал как бык поссал)
Думал как динамики востановит,а оказалось наотьебись сделал.

0:57 that one guy was like: "Are you nuts"
You should leave those shims in the coil until after the glue on the outer rim dries so the speaker can move without rubbing. Saw on How it's made.

Greetings from Thailand. Great work man and btw I know why you didn't put that much effort in the cabinet finish.
nice Restoration bro....👍👍👍
thank you
Most viewers just don't get it. The point here is that most of the speaker components and box is reused. Ever increasingly and unfortunately the world has become a throw away society. Buying ridiculously expensive cellphones every year and computers and what not that still have many more years of useful life. I applaud this fellow for this speaker rebuild.
This is not a good repair on the speaker box, but the speakers are having a good repair, but again not on the speakerbox
He needs a new speakerbox
Yeah, chipboard (what we call it in Canada) is the cheapest, crappiest wood you can get to make things out of. It's just wood chips and glue then pressure treated to stay together. When that gets wet it swells up like a balloon and moulds. A new wooden speaker box made from plywood would at least have made this look decent.
Nice
Нельзя центрирующую пленку доставать из зазора пока не приклеишь подвес полностью,можно не угадать с центровкой.
Very good, if it can still be improved why should buy a new one, thank you for sharing
Excelent job. Bravo! You shuld coat the wooden box with some wall paper to cover the screches.
good recovery
Tq bro🙏🙏👍👍
Just started the video and it's not a "Kenwood" speaker.. its peavey in a kenwood cabinet..
Ya, I agree, and the dust cap says peavey XD
The kenwood sticker isn't right.
Video should say -second redtoration of a kenwood speaker box with Peavey speaker
No, the dustcap is not even a real peavey dustcap. all the speakers have the same kind of labels, which means they are actually a set. However the whole work is done not really well. Specially the box.
@Paul_is_ok_ish Is actually possible. Also the back labels of the speakers altough seem to be a set they don't look neither like kenwood or peavey. I think is just some junk speaker with a fake label on it. I remember in Mexico when i was a kid people who were printing stuff like labels or stickers would sell this kind of fake labels for you to paste on your car audio equipment or in the lousy speakers you had at home. The same with the dustcaps for speakers: You could have an ugly chinese pair and put some Kenwood or Pyramid dustcap or whatever other brand you'd like to.
These videos always have that water bottle of “mystery liquid “.
Great skills rebuilding those speakers!
Box was trash though .
That liquid is probably some kind of glue remover.
Why everybody so mad to this guy he did a good job
thank you
That’s actually pretty amazing. The only thing it really needs is maybe to wrap the box in some type of fabric.
thank you
I can't believe he actually saved the box.
@@barrymonroy7138 I was really expecting him to build a new one, not fill and paint. Low density fiber board must not be readily available.

Good work.
итог: динамики хорошо сделал, корпус колонки страшнее атомной войны. Странно, что во время работы шпатлевка не стала осыпаться кусками из-за вибрации
Ну, назвать это ремонтом динамиков сложно товарищь)))
Would've been easier to just build an all new speaker tower with new speakers... Good job rebuilding the speakers, but why not make a new enclosure? The water damage isn't going away with filler....
日本の古いものを大切にされているのですね。感謝。
Excellent
Ficou perfeita 👏👏👏👏
That’s actually a Peavy speaker. Why there’s a kenwood logo idk probably originally a kenwood. Lucky find, Peavy is good
DJ Wolve it’s a real kenwood cabinet that someone hacked an old peavy woofer into.
Campbell Pritchard I figured, probably moded because kenwoods weren’t that good, or the original owner blew the kenwood woofers.
Ohhh boy!! You did a good job with the speakers, you must have made the same with the cabinet (box)!
really appreciate what you do with what you have..but please..PLEASE..do not repeat the same damn audio track 88 effn times...i had to turn the sound off after 87th time..
Зачем начинать делать если нет желания сделать нормально. Ну сразу бы пыльнул из краскопульта и включал на прослушку, тоже самое бы было 1 в 1.
С корпусом то да,но все равно автор молодец!!!!
Едет чувак, хоба колонка лежит на мусорке, привозит домой, и у него сразу дифузоры есть на все динамики, заранее знал что колонку найдет и купил дифузоры)) Но шпаклевка это жесть, любая царапина и будут белые полосы, кустарно!

Nice restoration good job. I would’ve probably covered up where you painted with some sort of wallpaper or something. Just a question for you how long did it take from start to finish
Donald Lentz Did you not see were he covered it up with wood putty. I think he did a fantastic job. Far better than I could do but I would’ve never tried it in the first place.

Таких колонок не существует у Kenwood, это подделка. Динамики от фирмы Peavey. На просторах интернета информации о такой акустики вообще нет. В место её модель Aiwa предлогаеться.

Great work! Well I just wondered: why no damping material inside the speaker? I think it's fundamental, even with a bass reflex hole. I appreciate the restoration of the rotten chip board box/cabinet. Perhaps you could have painted it with a rougher, textured paint as used for road worthy, heavily used speakers. Just an idea. Awesome job on replacing the cones!
Saludos desde Puerto Rico. Buen trabajo.

Кто нибудь подарите ему уже нормальный паяльник.
И шуруповёрт.
it would been have nice to have pair for stereo sound great work .
The bass driver has been reconed before he did it, using a Peavey recone kit which will have a voice coil, dust cap, spider and the cone & surround.
The speaker basket & magnet is from a different manufacturer, hence the 20 watt.
I take my hat off to this guy :-) he spent as little as possible to bring that one speaker back to life !!
He even re-used the dust caps & voice coils and kept the spider on the bass & mid baskets.
Kenwood drivers at the time would be "Trio" branded. Also there doesn't seem to be a Kenwood with that model number. I think it's a "parts bin special", surplus parts put together and sold off as a fake Kenwood. Even though the quality almost seems too good for that.
Ужас😲
Лучше слепить корпус с фанеры и оклеить ткань карпет😎

@@dimepapi6801 Surely you are allowed to say the speaker cabinets are shabby after they have been left out in torrential rain and all the neighbourhood dogs have pissed all over them? I am not criticising his work as the driver unit repairs look quite OK to me. Perhaps its perfectly alright to have something that looks this in a third world home but a full restoration would have involved constructing new cabs as these are quite plainly rotted right through and it most affect the sound quality on what is supposed to be an airtight infinite baffle enclosure. My DIY attempts will look better better because i can obviously source better materials that may be in short supply in his home country. Stop being a soft melt and such a little bitch as i might equally ask what have you achieved?

He would've needed to bondo it a whole lot and then use laminate or veneer to refinish the OSB. Honestly at that point he should've just built a new cabinet. But I can understand why he didn't want to.
