They not only have to put together two of their own songs for most shows, but there is an opening song for each episode that includes all the remaining groups, so they have to spend time learning that song / medley, with choreography. Scott has an increasing role in those as the show progresses, and Kirstie in some. MrDuckBear has those videos, which he labels "opening performance"
Thanks for continuing the Sing Off journey, Jesse! Love your attention to detail. So fun to see how things progressed with PTX. 😉. My favorite performances coming up next. 👏🏻👏🏻
Their next performance is one of my favorites! Pay attention to Kirstie’s outfit….it later makes an appearance in on of their early videos, which I don’t think you’ve done yet.
You're back at the Sing-Off! Every time I watch this series with a reactor I notice new things. This performance was never one of my favourites, probably because I don't know Britney's music very well, but it was great to see you appreciating the creativity and getting into the heads of the individual performers. I know these are not very polished performances, and that must take away a lot of enjoyment when you're looking for technical and artistic expertise. The next one is one of my top three picks. It's rock week on the Sing-Off and PTX is way out of their depth. To their credit, they don't try to soften the sound like they did with their Janis Joplin song, but instead they pull out all the stops, using every creative tool in their arsenal to turn themselves into 60's rock legends. Back in the day I saw the movie in the theatre that featured this song, so it's kinda close to my old heart, and I think PTX did an awesome job with it.
Not to worry. Holidays get to us all. At this point in an American TV competition Mitch had to be presented as he termed it himself as "masc Mitch" (masculine Mitch). They needed to win and LGBTQ+ was never even hinted at in the program for any of the performers. It was a very conservative program that required a chaperone if they went off site during the week which was how Avi's sister, Esther, first got involved as their chaperone. Only Avi and Kevin were old enough to even drink alcohol legally in the group. There was a very good performance of a Queen sing I believe by another group (Dartmouth Aires) just before them that the the judges are referencing as well. What would have happened? In interviews later they mentioned this - Kevin was going to China to study medicine. Avi was deciding between being an opera singer or choir director and playing his own music nights and weekends at coffee houses. Kirstin was studying musical theater. Mitch was still in high school but wanted to go into musical theater as well. Scott was definitely going to be a singer.
Despite all “narrowminded” toughts by production. I am glad they got the spotlight, push to get kevin and avi in and actually some finanicial winnings. Kinda giving them the chance to become the band they’re now. Guess feeling uncomfortable for a while makes you appreciate being yourself even more.
@@JesseReacts Yes. The group's wizard was definitely Ben Bram who gathered them all up a la Gandalf in The Hobbit to send them off on an adventure. 😁 Mitch had never been out of Arlington, Texas until the SingOff according to him and, according to his father in their On My Way documentary, he was so shy the family didn't know he could sing until they went to a school concert and he would even hide behind the fireplace at home to sing to them. Kirstie was also a bit shy and you can see her being encouraged during the competition as well. It is difficult knowing them now to realize that only 2 of them had been in numerous national and international competitions and appearances, travelling extensively before they became Pentatonix for the SingOff were Kevin with his cello and saxaphone and Avi with his acapella, jazz and choral groups. Pentatonix 3 biggest competitors at the SingOff were Urban Method, Afro Blue and the Dartmouth Aires. As a quick way to see 2 of the 3 here is a 4:39 sing off between 2 of them and you can see Pentatonix in their box off to the side watching complete with showing the clothing all the groups wore. ua-cam.com/video/P7aVndsMCTY/v-deo.html
Well shame on Scott.....he made Mitchie big sad. lol This performance was all over the place but the kids did good! I knew we were in trouble though when you questioned why they were rehearsing outside on a stairwell haha Enjoyed it Jesse!
😆 those frikkin’ weird productions lol. “Lets find a weird setting were everybody can face the camera and act like it’s just a normal scene” 😂 i should ease up lol
Pretty sure I heard Scott say in an interview that the “disagreement” was BS…the clip of it was done at the “request” of the show…a lot of the “drama” was just that.
Not my favorite performance, cheesy choreo but that wasn't up to them. From here forward, I think they've really started to gel and the performances get stronger. Looking forward to seeing your react to the end....
Yeah there is definitely a awkwardness about some things the production asked from them or they felt the need to do. Guess knowing what we know now is that people don’t need it. Still can’t understand why some choices were made haha

Kevin as well is visible in quite a few of them.

My favorite part is Mitch’s “Mep, Mep, Mep”
Haha that actually know what you mean 😆

I will check it out! 😄
The line about being drunk was throwing shade on Paula Abdul, who had (at the time recently) shown up drunk for a taping of American Idol.
Woei haha didn’t know that occurred at all haha
You really need to check out "Superfruit reacts to PTX Sing Off." So much fun.

Woei, kinda setting things up for me haha i am definitely curious!
@@JesseReacts it is a pretty epic performance
@@JesseReacts That's my intention! ;-)
Recommend their I Just Called To Say I Love You.
