    I don't think that any of the governing bodies are going to reduce the number of games that a team is expected to play, what i believe will happen is they will put a limit on how many games a player can be selected and play (perhaps set it so a player is only allowed to play 40 games in a season)

    • @AndyLowe-net
      @AndyLowe-net Місяць тому

      They wont do that. Its up to the clubs to manage their players, they have the sports science knowledge to monitor their players and make sure they arent overloaded. The club can rotate players with other players from the squad if a player needs to rest. And Man City is the last club that should have a problem doing that

      Increasinģ the squad size is one solution. To be honest, these players are earning so much money and if you try to reduce their wages for lesser amount of games, they'll still protest...so?

    I feel bad for Rodri, I wish him a good healing process. However, this will teach City fans to appreciate Kovacic more for what he brings to the team whenever Rodi is not available, just recently at the beginning of this season Kovacic did very well for City against Chelsea in their opening match. Tough luck to Rodri, it is time for Mateo to step up to fill this season long void, best of luck to both players⚽🤍

    I want to see that science article of correlation between fatigue and ACL and make the conclusion myself. A very few percentage of players as a whole play a lot of games, and they happen to be in top clubs. I hear historically big clubs from South America, for example, want this extra competition by FIFA. I agree, though, a new additional competition by corrupt FIFA is a bit much. Clubs should just field their academy players for that competition.

    I don't understand how pros are not fit enough to play a game every 3-4 days... growing up we used to play 2 sometimes 3 games in 1 single day. But these guys get 3-4 days to rest and still say it's too much. How about they act more professional and take care of themselves and stay fit rather than going out to night clubs and partying and maybe they would be more fit and stop getting injuries. And I don't wanna hear the lame excuse of oh it's cause they're getting older, cause that's not an excuse. Cristiano and Zlatan are the best examples of how taking care of yourself will lead to less injuries.

    Expan the squad sizes so that players like Rodri can choose which competitions to not participate in (I don't how that will go with their employers) becuz Jason Reed and Robert Ashworth in the English 3rd tier are not gonna take a pay cut to help elite players like Rodri on this becuz lets be honest, they have no chance of playing in the Champions League or Club World Cup. So Rodri and the elite players unfortunately are on their own. But you wont get that perspective from Skysports.
    & where is the pro's union (professional footballer's association) in all of this. They are supposed to negotiate for their constituents, that's what they are being paid for. Honestly the elite pros should consider their legal position and the possibility of LEAVING the association if they don't start doing their job and defending their interests.

    that was Rodri's first start this season. So this injury has nothing to do with fatigue. It would even be the opposite, maybe linked to a lack of rhythm, I don't know.

    Player fatigue? What kind of nonsense is this?
    It's still the start of the season. He just made a weird movement and injured himself. That can happen with the most fit players.
    Also, there already is a solution against fatigue. How about utilizing your entire squad? If you really care about the health of your players you will rest them even if you need them for a win. But I guess they care more about winning and not about health. Its really very simple. Rodri was tired before this match? Play Kovacic instead. Rodri is better and you need him for a win? But don't you care more about his health? You're making a whole big deal about health and rest. Well let him rest and stop caring more about winning over health. Bunch of hypocrites.

    Where I stand on this matter: There are ways you can solve this issue rather than overhauling the entire system - that shows shallow thinking.
    Increasinģ the squad size is one solution. To be honest, these players are earning so much money and if you try to reduce their wages for lesser amount of games, they'll still protest...so?
    Let the administrators find creative ways to solve this issue.
    Fyi: the new UCL format is exciting and should not be touched.
