Seymour Duncan Mayhem Distortion (JBSH6B & JBSH6N) Review

A little review on the Seymour Duncan Mayhem Distortion pickups. Raw sound from camera phone to hear the actual tone from the guitar without any post audio edit and compressed filters.

Been shredding these pickups since 2005. They're brutal, especially in lower tunings.

You can't get more metal than the Mayhem set. I've used Distortions since the mid 1980s. I prefer them to the JB for clarity, even for lighter forms of music. For cleans I'd always coil split a Distortion. I never expect high output pickups to clean up with a volume roll because must don't. The Distortion was way ahead of its time when it came out. It was Duncan's response to the popularity of the DiMarzio Super Distortion, another classic pickup. It's not as warm as a Super Distortion but it's a hell of a lot meaner and tighter with better harmonics.

What pickup do you prefer? The sh6 distortion or the sh4 jb?

To be honest I love the SH-4 and 2N a lot more. I had them on one of my Jacksons and it was like the best sounding tone.

A lot more true tone than running audio through the interface because it would be a different audio source and more compressed than what’s coming out of the 2X12 cabinet I’m using in the video.

There’s no Duncan JB in the Mayhem set. The MAYHEM set is unique, the neck pickup isn’t wound like a PAF. The ‘Hot Rodded’ set has a JB and ‘59 neck combination.
