Every once in a while you come across something that makes you go,
this is why I do this. It could be a piece of gear, a camera and or in this case, a lens.
That just makes you want to go make a movie, and you don’t care how bad the storyline is you just wanna go shoot with it.
Let me introduce you to a budget Anamorphic lens that will raise your production value.

Insanely beautiful lens!!! I wish that one day we have anamorphic lens with autofocus... I do love manual focus, but, for a budget filmmaker who live in a country that lens are so expensive, a lens that fit in most scenarios it's more affordable... But if I don't need autofocus for almost nothing, certainly I would get some of these sirui anamorphic lens, BEAUTIFUL!!!
Hey Lury, I agree that would be amazing. I heard about a DJI product that turns manual into auto focus. That may be the only work around as of yet, but again that just means spending more money.

Great review, thank you. I've been using this with my Panasonic S5, so I can actually monitor in camera, and also I find this lens so easy to manually focus. And I agree with you, there's just something that you can't describe that just looked so different. Honestly, I have been struggling with going back to any aspherical lens because they just don't look anything like this lens. I'm shooting a feature right now, and I might very well shoot the entire film on this 35 mm lens. :-) I might use an ultra-wide spherical lens just to get some establishing shots, but then again, this 35 mm is really kind of like a 22 or 23mm wide equivalent, so I might be able to keep this on my camera for the entire film. It just looks absolutely beautiful. Also, when you look at your footage through different aspect ratios, it changes even more. Although that can be a problem, because then you have way too many choices. LOL Thanks so much for sharing.

Looks good, I seen some amazing Anamorphic lenses that will autofocus but the price is around $30,000.00 + but they are fantastic lenses.
I totally agree. They are fantastic lenses, but they are just, way too expensive. I could buy a couple cars at that price:). If you ever win a lottery someday, you can try them out for us, and tell us what you think.

Newby here - would autofocus typically not work with anamorphic lenses?
It's a fantastic lens for this Prize!!!!!!!
But I wouldn't go with the Sirui Anamorphic 35mm f1.8, because I use a Gimbal and I defenitely need a auto focus.

Hi, to use it on SONY ZVE10, would I need to use the adapter provied inside to mount it on that APSC camera? Because this 35mm is built for micro4/3 originally?
However, a 4/3 sensor is smaller in size WRT APSC (Sony) sensor. So, would that play or introduce some kind if unforseen compromise to the quality?
Please answer, I got ZVE10 inspired by your good recommendation.

New firmware allows you to de-squeeze right on the camera, no need to post edit it.
Wondered if you can record via the ninja too? I have a ninja with lots of hard drives for it and shoot everything ProRes. I know you can shoot Raw on the FX30 via the Ninja but wondered if can also shoot standard ProRes 422 too? I have all the sirui lenses. They are lovely. So much character!

Sony should really implement some common cinema camera features like the anamorphic mode, open gate, waveform, false color throughout their so-called "Cinema FX Line".

If you put 50mm Sirui APSC lens to a Sony Fx30, it stays 50mm or does it crop to 75mm ?

First of all.., do you own a ford Maverick? I know I saw Maverick headlights…lol Second; wait until you have a chance to shoot a concert with this lens! The light streaks! I shot one last week with this same camera/lens combo and am blown away!!!

I friggin love these lenses. Used the FF 50 and 75 on the FX3. Now with the 3.0 update we can see the 1.33 desqueeze!

Not 35mm F1/8 it's T1/8 because it Anamorphic lens!

Unfortunately it is false. This lens is f 1.8. This is determined by the aperture ratio of the focal length to the aperture.
The "T" values do not indicate the mathematical ratio but the real light throughput of the lens.
If you compare "F" values based on the amount of light that falls on the sensor, they can be different. This is due to the losses within the lens system.
In the field of cinama lenses, however, the amount of light on the sensor is decisive. Therefore, these lenses are specified with the real, the "T" value.
This then accounts for all light losses within the lens.
Current full frame Sirui lenses have "T" values, this one has "F" values. However, the difference is usually not very large in terms of light throughput.

The fx30 will not do IN CAMERA RAW. So the sony fx30 cannot even match a 11 year old BMPCC og. Pathetic Sony.
