Next time try the sprinkles not on a toast but on a slice of bread and some spreadable butter. You're definitely gonna love that!

There are still tons of Dutch snacks to try out. Like licorish, stroopwafels, a big veriety of cookies and fried snacks. Bytheway, Miffy is Dutch and we call her Nijntje ( pronounciation of the ij combination is the same as the ei combi in Einstein) and is the second part of the word konijn ( rabbit)

They come at those Dutch people with licorice, then you just have to run away!!

Chocomel you drink cold, from the fridge. Turn the carton first a couple of times to mix the contents before opening to pour. No whipped cream.
Whipped cream is fine for real hot chocolate made with cacao. That is not the same as Chocomel, which is basically milk with a chocolate flavour and often drunk at breakfast.

Always good to see people try the sprinkles and put on a decent amount like the Dutch would (and the picture on the packaging shows). So many channels try it and not put on half of what you did and are disappointed as a result.

Don't toast the bread, just put butter on it and then the sprinkles. We don't toast the bread here in The Netherlands. As for chocolate, Droste of Verkade would have been a better choice.

By the way, we usually drink the chocomel ice cold.

I like hagelslag best in the dark chocolete (puur) version.

de Ruijter is the brand, the chocolate sprinklets are called hagelslag. Hagel is the Dutch word for hail.

Chocomel is made with its bare minimum of necessary ingredients. It's only 5 or something; cocao, milk (pasteurised milk, not that dried and then rehydrated crap), real sugar (and not that combi of glucose fructose syrups with added sweeteners), and one or two stabilisers. All that is much unlike all the other options at UK supermarkets, which are full of those factory ingredients. It's also why it tastes so milky. Real milk.
As for Tony's Chocolonelly, it's okay. Better quality ingredients than Cadbury, but probably less than Hotel Chocolat. I think Verkade is a better Dutch supermarket chocolate brand. Heaps better than Cadbury.
Hagelslag is best eaten on untoasted bread with some butter.

Tony's are definitely overrated. I don't get all the hype. I suppose it has to do with the designs and the way it was produced, but there are far better (classic) Dutch chocolate brands out there. The seasalt caramel flavour is excellent though.
If you are into chocolate that is not too sweet you should definitely try the Droste pastilles.
As for Chocomel, I prefer it cold.
Sprinkles you can eat for breakfast but I also sometimes have a craving during lunch, so I'll have multiple slices of bread with cheese and maybe one with sprinkles. Personally I never put sprinkles on toast; just on bread, with butter. Sprinkles work in Greek yoghurt too. If I don't have muesli in my yoghurt I'll sometimes throw in some sprinkles.
Thank you for your opinion on these. As someone with Scottish heritage who has visited the country it's nice to see what you think of our snacks. I suppose you've not tried our licorice, have you? ;)

Hello, thank you for your lovely comment! We absolutely loved our trip to the Netherlands and can’t wait to go back. We are thinking about going for tulip season next year🌷☺️
We were so disappointed with Tony’s chocolate, it had a grainy texture which we aren’t a fan of. We will try Droste pastilles next time! I have some left over chocolate sprinkles so will definitely try them with yoghurt and granola too 🤩!!
I hope you had a great trip to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 please come again soon ☺️!
