Ah so “Alcohol” and “Art” have the same pronunciation in Korean: “Sul”. So the song is playing to the double entendre: getting drunk on art, art is alcohol to an artist thirsty for creativity, etc

Dionysus is the Greek god of wine, fertility of nature and arts among many things. A lot of literature also talks about his insane hold on females and cult following

There is a video of them dancing on stage and under the stage it started to collapse and the staff and stage hands literally held the stage up. You can see it bowing and the people holding it up jolting with every stomp of BTS. They dance HARD!
Dionysus and thyrsus spoken in Korean slightly differs from the American pronunciation (short first vowel sounds vs long sounds in English) - but the fun fact is that they rhyme. When I first heard the song, it threw me for a second since I studied Greek Myth in college. And the best line of the song, personally, is the "born twice" part describing Dionysus which also coincides with how BTS has transformed themselves as artists. 💜 I consider myself of calm nature except when I tell people about BTS - and I can see the similarity in Brian where he gets a somewhat mischievous smile when something great is going to come up. (It's that child-like "look what I found!!" joy and energy 😁)
The only song (that I know of), that starts and ends with Hobi. He bookended himself in his creation. Love it! Thank you Hobi 💜

Hobi, who can't drink much, but in fact he was involved in the production of "Dionysus", and among the songwriters, he was placed in the second place.
Born as an idol reborn as an artist (Suga’s lyrics) Dionysus experiences a rebirth and this is the metamorphosis with BTS’ from idol to singer. It’s a cool song and still a deep concept dropped in.
That crouch and twirl at 17:52 gets me every time... It's just so smooth!
Not sure if you knew, but the interlude remix here was one of their older songs N.O.
They just crammed so many bits and bobs of their discography into that half hour time slot I lost track of how many they put into it :)
I watched MAMA 2019 so many times and never get tired of it. Love it. Thank you for the reaction. And SUGA is my bias. His show in 2023 was amazing.
There's no hate when someone makes a reaction video because we are happy that BTS's music is spreading more and more. Somehow it makes me feel proud of them when I see a positive response to their music.
And I'm glad that you choose to watch 2019 MAMA Dyonysus because this performance hits you like a truck. Its one of the hardest choreography and they still sing perfectly. And stage setting is breathtaking. They work hard and practice every performance to perfection.
I was a rock fan for many years. Until I decided to listen to BTS. They came into my life when I was at my lowest and rock didn't help me anymore. They cured my soul. Literally. And I'm glad that your metal head friend liked them. As I said it makes me feel proud 💜
I've never seen a translation of the words but always felt it was them talking about they used wine and drinking as a picture of their art and diving into that art of music, lyric's and dance being saturated in it. Almost to the point of being drunk on it as they enter the stage all pumped up ready to explode on stage.
Dionysus! 👏👏👏👏If this banger was just a party drinking song, I wouldn't be nearly as interested. It's the intelligent metaphor for the high of creating and performing art that makes this song meaningful as well as entertaining. Enjoyed your reaction!

Next time maybe you can showed Claude Mikrokosmos live performances from their concerts or So What live performances from their concerts. This 2 song usually their last song from the concert where they are more relaxed with casual outfit (from their merchendise)

One of my favorite things about this performance is near the end, when they sit down and Jimin's chair isn't there yet. He sits on air for a second before the hand comes in with his chair 😂

Many ppl feel oh its a drinking song but they are wrong. I am glad u were aware of this idea Bryan behind the song. Such a bop. Jin absolutely slays those Dionysus highs and lows. His slows totally shocked me on 1st listen. What a King. Dionysus was J-Hope's "brainchild" btw. Also, did u know this is one of their harder choreo songs. Im super late but awh man it's a shame you didn't show Claude the whole MMA 2019 performance. I suggest you show him all the main songs that they performed then and don't even tell him you're doing this because he deserves to see all the introductions and the anticipation they built for this performance of Dionysus. He can also get to see Persona, Boy In Luv, Boy With Luv and Mikrokosmos too. I don't think anyone would mind even if the video was blurry but i get it if you can't post it because it gets blocked, i just would love Claude to experience an entire BTS award show performance!

It always surprises me when people attribute this part to the last supper. It was common in ancient times to have long tables for feasting and this concept was going for Ancient Greece, lol
I didn't know that, just the first thing that came to my mind was the Last Supper.
But Also if you think this was supposed to be their last award show season before they did the MOTS tour and then went away and did solo stuff in 2020, then it kinda makes sense that it is the 'last' supper.

One reason why ARMYs shout to their lung was for the song change in this dance break moment, which was BTS early era song to speak up the young generation’s anger and anxiety and them selves eager to be acknowledged as an artist.
This is the BANGTANTV version - he should see the televised version too which has some close-ups and good camera work (which isn't always the case with stage performances). In this one, Suga is blocked by the camera person, etc... it's good to watch to see the overall stage from one fixed point (which I do prefer for many of their other performances), but the televised one is better for this particular performance. You need to see the intensity of their eyes and facial expressions in a song like this. 🔥

Dionysus is much deeper when you know who he is. Blood Sweat and Tears is another song based on a famous artwork The Fall of the Rebel Angels and Icarus.

I luuuuv that you do lyrics separate from video. Our little brains just can’t take in everything at once. I always recommend to new fans that they just watch a video with no subtitles first to just absorb the artistry, and then watch it again reading the subtitles.

Billboard is changing it's rules so that Jimin's ranking will be affected.
The radio stations don't include his songs even if Army's keep on requesting to play the songs.
All socmeds are being so racist towards Jimin's album.
They cannot accept that JIMIN made it to #1 top 100 without payola, without collabs, without radio stations or producers influence in buying votes.
