    Thank you! I love that your straight to the point and don’t drag things out causing me to squirrel off. I also love your nickname for the Polar as I’ve just adopted one!!! ❤ I’m in a situation where I cannot exhaust outdoors. In Henderson/Las Vegas, homes are smashed together very closely AND I have a school in front….so the Polar was the most ideal with the power I needed. I did get a manufacturer matching fume extractor, the XF-180 3 stage. I just finished calibrating and doing my very first test run today. I did notice a very faint smell while testing on 3mm Basswood which came with the machine (smells like toasted marshmallows) that didn’t last long, I can see the smoke being sucked back through the exhaust fan, but was wondering if there will be a faint smell every time (so I stop panicking and clutching my fire extinguisher). The smell didn’t last long but was noticeable. I’m worried when I get to the acrylic…as this was the main reason for the purchase. Your insight or reassurance would be greatly appreciated. I am a complete newbie to the laser/Lightburn world and right now I’m more terrified than excited. 😅

    He's right about the inflation. But if what we make with these machines is really just extra, luxury, or non-nessential items, our sales are going to take a massive hit as well.

      Correct. Always have to adjust during difficult times. People are still buying. So much data available to people to see what’s trending. Just gotta put in the work! That’s what separates the winners from the losers! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏼

    Great video, thank you. Would it make a difference between the 60w and 80w besides maybe speed when engraving stones? Wanting to do some pet memorial stones but unsure if they will engrave deep enough. Thanks!

    Great video, very helpful. I'm getting the MF2028 100W. I see a lot of people reccomending upgrading the air assist. I'll be getting the infinity inline duct fan. do you have any experience with the upgrade air assist? what are your thoughts?

    • @RISENGRINDWORKSHOP
      @RISENGRINDWORKSHOP  Рік тому

      The 100w Laser is an extremely versatile unit, you will love it! Right out of the box, the 100w unit does come with an on-board air assist. Like I mentioned in the video this will absolutely allow you to setup the machine and get working. With that being said, keep in mind the overall cost of the machine, this is an area where they were able to reduce some costs for the end user. Now if you want to upgrade to an air assist you can search online and find people that sell a complete DIY kit and there are posts showing all the items you need to buy from an online source. The key with air assist is to keep the debris from cutting from getting up inside the nozzle and on the lens. Upgrading the air assist and lens is a total game changer for these machines. But again, get the machine setup and start using it right away and slowly upgrade and mod the machine as your needs grow! Congrats on the new machine you will have a blast!

    You do talk fast, but I'm from Ireland and we mastered the art of fast talking decades ago hahaha
    Anyway, enjoyed your video. It wa very informative and as I am right now looking at purchasing one of these lasers to start a small business I will be joining your Facebook channel and have sub'd to your UA-cam channel also. I look forward to learning from you as I will be a total beginner!
    One parting questiuon though . . .
    If money was no object (within reason) and I neede a machine to be able to do Mugs, Glassware and Tumblr's as well as flat materials like leather, journals, wood etc which model would you advise as best and which accessories are a must have? With the forethought that in say 6 months time I will be switching out of a garage and into a store (if business is going good)?
    Thanks in advance 🙂

      Hey Derek Congrats on jumping into the laser game. You will have a blast. Infinite possibilities with these machines! The 60-150w Laser units will all do what you are looking for. If budget isn't an issue, sometimes buying the biggest and most powerful is not always the best option. Lower powered laser units tend to Raster images much better than the larger power lasers. Most people going for a larger Wattage Tube primarily are VECTOR cutting and want to cut through material quick and much thicker materials. The next consideration is usually work table size. All the units from 60 and up will have plenty of room for you to do everything. You will need to get a Rotary Attachment for your laser. This will allow you to do cylindrical items as you described. I will be uploading a video here on the TOP 3 Accessories and will cover those models. Personally I don't care if I screw up on a small piece of plywood, however when doing expensive tumblers like Yeti and Stanley one mess up and you eat the cost. So I recommend if Budget allows the PIBURN Rotary available on OMTech site. Plug and Play and lots of tutorials on how to use them.

    Since you’re an OMTech partner, maybe you can clear this up for me. Their support told me they the AF2028-80 runs slower than the 60W. Really? They also told me that the 60W version cannot cut .25” plywood (birch, etc…). That’s hard to believe since anything you buy out there for material is going to be some sort of ply.
    I don’t think I’m getting all the correct info from them.
    Below is from OMTech.
    ====
    For AF2028-60 - 60W CO2 Laser Engraver,
    Max. Engraving Speed 23.6 ips (600 mm/s)
    Max. Engraving Depth 0.25 in. (6 mm)
    While the AF2028-80 - 80W CO2 Laser Engraver
    Max. Engraving Speed 19.6 ips (500 mm/s)
    Max. Engraving Depth 0.4 in. (10 mm)
    In terms of engraving speed, the 60W laser is faster than the 80W laser.

    Which model would work best to cut leather?

    • @RISENGRINDWORKSHOP
      @RISENGRINDWORKSHOP  Рік тому

      For you, all the 50w and up models will engrave and cut through leather. So you will factor in Budget and working table size you would like as power won't really be a factor. Leather is very versatile and gives you options for different machines.

    Can you use this model with the pass throughs to do custom cornhole boards? 24”x 48”?

    • @RISENGRINDWORKSHOP
      @RISENGRINDWORKSHOP  Рік тому

      Yes. You use the print and cut feature in lightburn software. You’ll be limited by the width of the machine, but length wise you can keep passing or feeding it through until the print is done.

      Unit comes with an onboard pump. If you want to upgrade, you can DIY a kit, or google OMT air assist upgrades and buy a kit someone is sellling online.
