my rottweiler is good at herding...our neighbors have a sheep, my mom hates it eating up our plants, i was to scared to chase it away cuz last time it kicked its legs around in the dirt...so i tried getting my rottweiler to do it, she's really good at it.
@starlaylla actually there is,the name may have started in Germany but owing to the importing of dogs there are now official breeding lines in the UK and the US. Besides only the name Rottweiler came from Germany the dog dates back long before to 'Molossus' dogs used by the Romans. The appearance of the Rottweiler is fair to say has most likely changed since then.
How is randomly, aggressively lunging at them "herding". He didn't move the cows anywhere or seem to have any awareness of where they should be or what you wanted from him. he just lunged and barked any time any of them stared at him or got close.
my dad often told stories of how before meeting my mother; he lived in the house with a Rottweiler who was his best friend. The dog was never used for herding as my dad wasn't a Farmer and lived in a now-urban environment. The stories I heard about such a friendly creature always made me wish I could have a dog of my own and treat them like my best friend.
Conider, your comment that rotties should not exceed 110 lbs is obsurd. It depends if they are a german roti or american rotti. to my knowledge, an american should not exceed 110lbs, and a german, which i have, can get up to 160 lbs (mine is 150 and in good overall shape
if you knew anything about rottweilers, you'd know that the only german rott is one from germany. There is no American Rott or German Rott. Also, 130 lbs is an oversized rott, whether they are fat or just muscular. Some breeder jipped you.
my rottie is 50-60 kg heavy and hes bigg i have been thinking if hes not full rottie, but he is cus hes dad is a rottie and hes mother too, but i dont know why he grew so damn big :D
That's how Rottweilers herd.... They usually find the dominant herd Bull and attack him once and dominate him.... control the Bull, Control the herd. Smart as hell.
I forgot. You are perfect and always correct. ... i laughed at you when i saw you making fun of the wrong guy. because the ones who project how right they are ... are wrong. THat is why I tell people I am not smart. Conifer. I am not smart.
Huh? My rottweiler is 1.5 years old and already weighs 110 lb, and he's a LEAN looking dog. At about 2-3 years, he should be at about 120ish lb. A normal male rottie weighs between 95-130 lb.
Yeah they used to pull the butcher’s cart through the street, strong, but calm and with the money in a pouch round the dog’s neck if you wanted to try and steal the money you had get past the dog

How is your rottie?
He's just giving them a warning to not come so close. If he wanted to attack them he would have.
He would be fucked
Cows: I wonder who the new dog herder is
Rottweiler: boy you learning today
MY Rottweiler is already 125 pounds and 29 inches tall at 10 months. Roman type. Great family pet. Gentle giant.

a stubborn bad-attitude cow deserves a rottie treat =]

It's always great to see the Rotties in their true environment.

That is a rottie showing who is the boss...
I would not really call this herding...😂
Yeah, but if the owner had trained it to herd, this dog would have been great

WOW!! Yes Rotwelliers are a very strong and intelligent breed and are very capable of herding for sure!!!I found it funny as an american!!!

awesome! once i saw this i realized why the rott acts the way it does! thanks for posting
there is not such thing as a german or american rottweiler, there is only the Rottweiler as said be AKC
When he went for the brown cow near the end he sounded kickass
Ain't no herding here....just a rottweiler in a field with cattle. duuuuuh
People who have commented on the Rottweilers origin on here generally seem to know SFA......
Uh yea that’s not herding that’s protecting
Грозный. Сразу показал, кто в доме хозяин.

@ConiferTreez You don't know what you're talking about
cool!
The Rottweiler is more adriving Dog then a Herding Dog, it was the Butchers and Livestockdealers Doc, not a Dog of the Cattleherders.

You don't know anything about rottweilers! Go look at the AKC and ADRK standard for rottweilers.
the cattle are only curius but if they had young calfs you would have a dead dog
