  • We continue working with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 MSFS. In this part 2 of 2 episode we fly the magnificent and newly certified Cessna Citation C700 LONGITUDE Business Class Jet. We are at our cruise altitude of flight level 280 preparing for the arrival and approach into Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
    Is this default MSFS 2020 Corporate Jet any good? Are the G-5000 touch screen avionics fine tuned well enough to navigate a fast jet in busy airspace? Tune in to find out answers to these questions and a feast of flight simulation goodness.

    Tim, Great to see you back and flying the Longitude with the mods. I'm still awaiting some more updates to MSFS2020 before moving from XP and/or P3D. Nice to know that the mods are working and developers are taking time to work on the Longitude. I like flying corporate/biz jets (on flyElite now) vs tubes, so glad to have you do a review. Hope to see on Vatsim someday.

      I’m definitely going to plan a Vatsim flight for the next video flying the 787 if I can get it to behave. In due time we will get some premium study level aircraft (fingers crossed). Until then the community is doing some good work to keep us flying. Great to hear from you Ron. Best regards, Tim

      Hi Jon! I started MSFS with a 2080 super and found it didn't have the muscle for 4K monitor and high quality MSFS settings. I somehow found a 3080 and have been pleased with the performance. I will say it has taken a lot of tinkering/tweaking to get the sim running at a level that I'm happy with. Thanks very much for the kind words! Best regards, Tim

      @@FSMaNiA Ha ! with me its 90 % tweaking 10% flying, sounds like a GTX 1080ti might not cut it when using MSFS ,but maybe good enough for 1080 resolution

    • @FSMaNiA
      @FSMaNiA  3 роки тому

      That seems about right! I think a 1080ti will work on a 1080p monitor with settings lowered a bit. It's all in the tweaking. I had a lot of CTD's with the 2080 because I was overloading the GPU.

    Newbie here. Great video. I gathered that you were in manual speed mode using auto-throttle, but I could not see any indication on the displays to indicate that. Even when you disengaged, I could not recognize anything. Am I missing something?

    • @FSMaNiA
      @FSMaNiA  3 роки тому

      Hi Frank, just from memory there were a few tricks to getting auto-throttle to behave on the this model. Click the auto-throttle button on the power lever, set the speed mode to manual in lieu of FMS with the switch located at the speed knob on the auto flight control panel. Then adjust your speed with the speed knob to the desired setting displayed in the window above the speed tape on the PFD. You’re right in there isn’t any indication on the PFD that auto-throttle is engaged. I feel pretty certain that is a MSFS omission. When you’re ready to disengage the auto-throttle click the button again on the power levers. I think I mapped a switch on my Saitek throttle for auto-throttle disconnect. It’s a good idea to double check to be sure the auto-throttle is disconnected and you have full control of the power levers. It’s basically a work around for a dumbed down G5000 that we have to live with until a developer provides a study level business jet. Long winded answer that I hope is helpful! Cheers from Tim.

      @@FSMaNiA Thank you for the reply, kind sir. Yes, that helps and matches what I'm finding through my research. The interesting thing during my previous flight, a green "AT" indicator light was visible in the middle of the ?autopilot indication panel?? Later in the flight during the approach the indication light was not there and I thought I was controlling the throttles. By the time I figured out that I had no throttle control, I could not disengage AT at the power lever. I'm going to map a button for AT and make sure I'm in Manual mode. Thanks again.

    Does it seem overpowered? The climb looks wild! And getting up to speed seemed intense. I don’t know much about the real jet , but it looks like a rocket ship in sim.

    • @FSMaNiA
      @FSMaNiA  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Jeremy, I really don't think it is overpowered. The jet is lightly loaded (50% fuel) and low payload. It has enough muscle to climb to FL450. It will flat out get up and go!! Cheers, Tim
