That deep red realy makes this one stand out. Lincoln Continental mark V's look their best in certain colour combinations and this is one the best, and with a matching interior, plus low miles. If only i lived in the USA!
That's what I'm talking about! That interior is gorgeous. That was the interior I ordered when I bought my 77 brand new. Does that mean I'm getting old? 66 now not bad.
These 77-79 Mark Vs had a seemingly infinite combo of interior colors , exteriors 1:3 vinyl top , full vinyl top , variety of body side molding colors and a bunch of different interior fabrics / styles and on and on. They’re very Bespoke vehicles much like Rolls Royce of today! Awesome era that sadly will never be again
Bill I’ve NEVER seen a Mark V with a roadster top ( ford called it Carriage Roof) AND the oval opera windows. You didn’t mention this and I believe it was either done custom or a special order for a guy/gal with big bucks. Would love someone with more knowledge to chime in. Also as I mentioned about color coordinated roof, body color and Side molding impact strips. There was a “ pin wheel” in the dealer brochures that had main body color in center then the pinwheel had 3? Sections showing what color impact strip, roof color and pin stripe could be selected based on main body color. I faintly believe that there was some * mention of “For special order colors not shown contact your Lincoln dealer”. Not 100% on latter but I think I read that somewhere. This is going from the memory of a 12 yo boy when these came out! Lololol. That boy is now 57 1/2 hee hee. Still feel 23 which I think means something ! Lol
Well that too “shell” premiered in 1978 on the blue and white Bill Blass Ed (as an option called Carriage Roof or simulated convertible ). I believe after that might have been offered on any mark V as an option though not 100% sure
An exceptionally beautiful Mark, especially the interior. Great paint job, too! I remember when those were new. They were stunning then, but they are much more stunning now.
So, what's weird about this car is the carriage roof. The factory installed carriage roof (which was introduced in 1978 and was a HUGE success) did not come with the oval opera windows. Never came with them. In the interior, where the opera windows would be, there were oval mirrors. Who put this roof on and when? Regardless, this is a gorgeous car.
Here's what the roof is supposed to look like. This is a very sad looking '78 Mark V (not sure if its a Cordovan Luxury Group,, interior is different): ua-cam.com/video/x4S2AMTIn_8/v-deo.html
@@christianbugatticg The owner had to have had it redone or modified. It didn't come like that. Any way to find out? I have to get out my '78 brochure and see what the interior looked like for that luxury group.
So, just looked over my 1978 Mark V brochure. BTW, the '78 Bill Blass was also in Cordovan but he didn't use the Carriage Roof until his iconic 1979 white and blue Mark V. The brochure mentions that the Cordovan luxury Group leather interior was white and cordovan. The brochure also states that for the Carriage Roof option: "Where other Mark V's have opera windows, the carriage has personal mirrors inside." The personal mirrors vanished in 1979. My conclusion is the first or 2nd owner had the opera windows custom added.
A CARRRAGE TOP...with an opera window...First time I saw one ..... .-...I had a 79 BILL BASS ...BLUE and WHITE ....Full white carriage top . No opera window
