+Scotticus25 This was probably my favorite episode so far in terms of animations. There's some great stuff coming up too! +Thought Cafe is amazing. -Nicole
the fact that I watched this 10 minute video and understood everything astonishes me. It also amazes me how college professors literally elongate so much of their lectures, sometimes talking for 3 hours straight to tell us the same information in this video.
My Ancient Greek teacher did the same when talking about the Minoiens. He mentioned "in passing" that they could have been Atlantis and then said that the lesson was done!
If phagocytes can swallow invaders, like bacteria and viruses, then how can anyone be sure that vaccines that are made of inactive viruses really work? Inactive viruses do not reproduce, and do not cause infection, vaccines with weaken viruses may replicate, but also do not cause infection. Does the immune system really need to produce antibodies, for viruses that do not cause infection?
It certainly was at that time. Japan made a longer portrayal. It's called Cells at Work (all but three episodes the immune system is featured prominently)
I am a visual learner and let me just say this.......this FINALLY makes sense!! I love those animations!! Besides it being informative, it's really entertaining. Loved it!!
I just wanna give a HUGE thank you to this entire series of videos (but especially the immune system ones!!) I took the MCAT last May after many months of studying and watching this series over and over and over (by the end I was literally playing them while I slept). I got an amazing score and I've now been accepted to a couple of great schools, and I literally could not have done it without these fantastic videos that present the topics in such an engaging and informative way! Seriously, THANK YOU!
I work in medicine and i approve of this video, everything is spot on, amazing presentation and an absolutely hilarious barrage of jokes and puns. Well done Hank, well done. I will be referring to this video anytime a friend of mine asks about immune systems in the future.
+Jess Liu I remember that there is a company that makes custom plushie toys. I forget the name but you can look them up and send them this video saying you want a plushie of this cell at this time in the video.
I can't explain just how much your videos are helping me! I'm also 62 but just getting into this education lark (I hated school when I was a kid, now I'm a big kid I don't think I'll ever really grow up) If only this sort of thing was available then! I am training yes at a late stage to be a reflexologist and need to understand anatomy and physiology you have made this all possible as I was struggling just reading books. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I can't tell you how helpful this episode has been to me. I have an immune system quiz a couple days from now and being the visual learner that I am, decided to watch this episode in order to better understand the process. My Biology AP grade and I thank you for your thorough explanations and great analogies and examples.
but if it's a part of us along with many other organ systems then doesn't that mean that humans actually work far harder than the immune system itself?
What will dendritic cells do with an overwhelming attack on the body? TUNE IN Next time, for "THE ADAPTATION". PS. the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
Just happens I'm doing this in biology, my absolute favourite topic when it come to biology, so grateful to be able to watch these videos to enforce everything i learned in class(while teaching me more) thanks again!
so basically the immune system is the custom and border protection, your Innate is the office of border patrol, adaptive defense system is the Office of Field Operations
Amazing job again guys! Just wanted to add that fever also makes it harder for the invading bacteria to replicate as our usual body temperature is their optimum and a lot of bacteria are rather sensitive to temperature changes (at least that's what I learned in my immunology lectures)
Anytime I hear about all the awesome ways my body is protecting myself from the outside world-which I hear mostly from you and Kurtzgesat-I get all giggity inside. Like, my body is freaking awesome! Good job bod!
Soooo... My biology final was this morning. And my professor specializes in the immune system. Thanks for nothing, Crash Course. But seriously, I actually appreciated these videos a lot while studying for this class. They made it a lot more interesting and manageable.
JDraks Final Fantasy came out before pokemon did, Final Fantasy was released in 1987 and Pokemon came out in 1996. And I understood the Fire Blast Pokemon reference but the fight was in the style of Final Fantasy. I've been a video game geek for 31 years, you don't have to question my knowledge.
Megan Rivera The health bars and text box at the bottom are pretty much perfect matches for Pokemon. Really, the only difference between this and Pokemon is that Pokemon text boxes would be on bottom right for left and top left for right.
I actually found the CrashCourse Biology version of the Immune System more helpful although the animations are better here yet it was more easy to comprehense in that video. Is it just me or anyone else too?
The immune system videos are among the best in the whole A & P series. Phagocytes and natural killer cells are described and illustrated in such a clear way. Thank you and God bless.

+Scotticus25 Literally scrolled down to say 'the animations are awesome'. Saw this. +1 :D
+CrashCourse TOTALLY
the fact that I watched this 10 minute video and understood everything astonishes me. It also amazes me how college professors literally elongate so much of their lectures, sometimes talking for 3 hours straight to tell us the same information in this video.
You guys are amazing. Managing to pull off a cliffhanger on an educational video is quite the deed.
Right it's kinda scary
+Tyrannosaurus Rex Didn't even think of it that way. It is impressive.
My Ancient Greek teacher did the same when talking about the Minoiens. He mentioned "in passing" that they could have been Atlantis and then said that the lesson was done!
+Tyrannosaurus Rex - Very impressive, indeed!

As both a medical student and artist, I find this blend of animation and science all sorts of awesome. 👍
This is, by far, the most adorable portrayal of the immune system I have ever seen. Props to Crash Course.
Loved it!!
Literally the best animations yet. Absolutely flawless.
empCarnivore I agree
*Kurzgesagt* is better...
@@WadcaWymiaru nope
Is ur profile pic mugi from K-On?

Macrophage: WE ARE INFECTED WIH THE EBOLA VIRUS MA' AM
CD4+ CELL: THEN GET TO WORK YOU FREAKING @#$%@$$#$
I don't know why people hit the dislike button... your videos are amazing keep doing what you are doing
I think because he is really fast in talking
Well you can slow down the video...
The dislikes are viruses that escaped the immune system.
Jose Arellano , yup at 75% he sounds normal
Simplified bait video, useless graphics (but good, gotta give em that!), narration is "overacted" to the fullest.
hes gesturing so hard the fluid on the table in the flask is jiggling wildly
I need plushies of those little animated cells omg
Same! They're the cutest microscopic structures I've ever seen
+Jess Liu I want the plague doctor NK cell
they kinda exist already. check giant microbes. There are several blood cells too.

our own immune systems are more intelligent and work harder than most humans do...
lol very true
but actually your immune cells are human too.... pero en realidad tus células inmunes son humanas también... xd
Your scope of domain gets larger.

I wish my I.S. would go to work for my brain cells. They're doing the jobs that Americans just don't want to do.

"Natural Killer Cells" would make a great Quentin Tarantino film.
Natural Killer cells are basically like the inquisition. Because you didn't expect that comparison.
Well they made them ss like soldiers in an anime.
That's something
hahahaha..
I'm assuming you already know that he wrote the screenplay to the movie *Natural Born Killers*. Such a great movie.
no but they made a great anime
"Just because it's simple doesn't mean it can't be elegant."
