- I use my $8 Rough Ryder toothpick to
1. Cut Cardboard
2. Cut a soda can
3. Wood whittle
4. Chop wood
5. Chop Ice
6. Open a food can
7. Use it as a throwing knife
Good to see someone use the knife that's being talked about used for more than slicing copy paper, and used for other tasks.
Good on you 👍😁
I would love it if you would put the Rough Ryder "Toad sticker/ Mellon tester" White smooth bone, through a test to see how well it will cut up Papaya and cantaloup and other fruit. Smokey Mt. Calls it a TOAD STICKER, Chicago Knife works calls it a Melon tester. No one on you tube is reviewing how well it performs. YOU are definitely the man to make it happen. Love the small Tooth pick. Great Video, Thank you.
Hahaha... I've never seen anyone baton with a TOOTHPICK before!! 😲🤯
It may have started just as a funny video, but that little knife definitely proved itself, especially with the can opening! It did way better than I expected.
Fun video!👍🤠
It was the most fun I’ve had filming a video for sure. I’m glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
Love it lol! Can we get more knife Olympics?
The winter knife Olympics are coming soon ;)
It took fifty years after canned food was invented for someone to invent a mechanical can opener. Before then they either used a knife or a non-electric can opener
Mr. Barlow, Just think, if you were camping during the Toothpick Olympics, you would have enjoyed a nice dinner of squirrel and pumpkin, washed down with Mtn. Dew!😃
fun video. some people take this stuff way too seriously.
LOL, I'm surprised that toothpick didn't die of sugar diabetes cutting into that Mountain Dew. The toothpick is fully practical as a gentleman's knife, which is what it's design was meant for. Light to medium cutting tasks. Sometimes I carry a Case Medium Toothpick in black micarta.
wears a glove for safety, uses the ungloved hand to hold things being cut and to touch the blade🤔🤣
If the zombie apocalypse came to fruition and all I had was a toothpick knife, be’cher ass there will be a bunch of dead-again zombies.
I’ve used them and found them to be very capable. To be honest I figured the can opening would kill it.
I also cut up a rubber hose
Yeah sure, these knives a junk!
Anything but silly. A testament to a well made knife. That was a heck of a lot of abuse!
I’ve grown to love the toothpick. I sold my first toothpick which was Case
a couple of years ago. I regret that now 😑
@@MrBarlow, I don't have many in the three inch size (perhaps a dozen or so.) but I too was surprised at how well they perform. I like all sizes but prefer the large ones!
Thank you a great enjoyable and entertaining video, good to see some live, true to life experiments 😉😉🤣🤣
Take care
Sam
Haha I’m glad you enjoyed it
Your second cut reminds me that I never want one of these.
Imagine if it had a symmetrical edge! You could overthrow the government in a Central American country! 😱
Holy moly, I am impressed, especially since you batonned the blade and not the spine. The small toothpick is one of my favorite patterns. Thanks for the video, really fun.
This is not how I use my RR toothpicks but as you have shown it can be done 👍.
Entertaining video! Love my toothpicks
I have the exact same toothpick, same colour, everything. And it is useless... It had no edge when it came and for the life of me I cannot get it sharp. I think the heat treat must have been horrible or something cause I have no problem sharpening or reprofiling other knives. Bummer.
Well that was surprising.
I'm gonna have to buy my nephew one
Batoning with a toothpick! Hilarious! Great video, those toothpicks are awesome little knives that get overlooked by a lot of people.
Thier strong little buggers!
I've had a Hammer brand toothpick for 70 years. Yes it is loose and worn and retired but still can perform. It has been replaced by a newer brand not in this video.
Couple rubber mallot taps at the pivot bolster will tighten up the blade and probably center it.
You put nutnfancy to shame with that batoning! 😂
Today "I'll test this toothpick"
10 years later "damn, I wish I didn't test it"
Aw, you brute! Picking on an itty-bitty knife. I’m surprised it held up so well. It’s a tough lil guy.
Great channel! I subscribed, hi from Milwaukee 🧀🍻
Thanks for joining!
Surprised it came out fine after opening the tin can! Nice demo.
Right? I was shocked too!
Olympic "events" LOL! The batoning was very dramatic - it rocked the stadium. Actually, the toothpick does the job as half of my Swiss Army knife attachments (3 of 6). And still sharp enough to cut your finger. Knife abuser!
I'm glad you did this, but you should do it over again because in real life use, you would sharpen them to get the most efficient use.
A dull knife is a dangerous knife if you're using it for a small EDC.
That's the reason for a test like you're doing. How will they hold up to EDC use.
Good job since you're the only one doing this test.
Ps.
I have Knives from AD10 to Reate knives, to loveless knives. I was thinking about getting a case toothpick modified by David yellowhorse.
I use many of my collectables, so i wanted to see how this would hold up b4 i bought it. $300 so you can see why i wanted to check out your tests.🤣
✌🏼🦁
Not for batoning, throwing, or opening cans, will ruin the joints, lol! That's for skinning a racoon. Held up really well through the abuse though.
I agree, just wanted to test the little guy to the limits!
to be fair why not use a large tooth pick
I love the college grad joke
Also I don't know why people knock 440 420 steels -- 420hc is my favorite steel, I've used s30vn and some others but 420hc is just so easy to handle/sharpen and its tough enough
RR green smooth bone gets no respect, haha. Nice demonstration Mr. B. Doesn't change my mind about the 3" toothpick, but hey it survived, and that's saying something.
Haha you convinced me to try a smooth green bone RR
my $20 buck 110 can cut open a can and chop a bolt and nothing will happen to the edge, i know because i have done it before . i stab the can and saw it open because that is what my buck is for
Why ? Why abuse a gentleman's pocket knife ? For like's and thumbs ups? Just idiotic.
The fact that they don't lock is enough for me to never use them for anything besides a letter opener.
I'm 75yo and have used and continue to use non locking folders for all my life and no problem just know your equipment. P.S. I also have a few locking folders as well as small fixed blades. Each have a place.
