Unironically looking forward to losing myself in creating one parafolk for 3 hours, then one room for 5 hours because of all the customisation options. It looks like such a cozy, relaxing game you can come to after a stressful day and all the builds are gonna be so unique. Also absolutely love your outlook on life rn and especially your magic greenscreen mug there 😊
i feel the same!! :,) tbh, building and furnishing in the sims is kind of stressful for me. i have a vision of what i want, but the lack of customization becomes really frustrating and i give up. i’m so excited to build and furnish para homes to my heart’s content. 🥰
@C I've been watching hack videos recently and there's stuff the game doesn't bother to teach you that help in build mode and CAS... Nothing for customizing patterns though.
The art style definitely grew on me and now I'm eager to create characters, build, and play. They're hard at work on live mode now but I can't wait to see more about genetics and personalities.
Tbh i like how they are confident of the game they are making but they're open to DLCs as well in the future because you never know, maybe there's something that players would really really want to see and the can always add it like supernatural creatures, you know?
Honestly a very extensive dlc is the only way I see them adding supernatural one day. Entirely optional for anyone and exactly what a dlc should be : an extra that adds a new dimension but that you can entirely play without if it's not your thing

I think with so much insanity and stresses of real life I think Paralives decided to keep it simple and cozy is the right choice. I am super excited to see it released, even though it will take longer than usual because it is a small team. All the best to the Paralives team!
I think the comic book art style you talk about will make it so much nicer and easier to make unique characters. That can be for different races but also for styles like punk or fashionista or grungy looking Paras. I’m ready for Paralives.
I really hope it’s on the switch. I wasn’t crazy about the graphics, but my mistake was to think of it as a sims alternative. It doesn’t have to be. It stands on its own perfectly fine as a cozy game and now I can’t wait for its release. Puffpals and Paralives are looking so good, big companies should learn.
I love how the characters look now? They did look very weird or uncanny at first but it seems like things have smoothed out and it’s a cross between sims like cartoonish to realist or drawn like how I draw my anime etc. I’m digging it!
I think, it would be a good idea for base game of Paralives to have horses in it. Only because it seem more challenging add in later on with DLC. Plus, if the coding is there for horses. They use the coding for dear, and other similar animals later on.
What I'm looking forward to in this game is spending hours customizing everything and then actually wanting to play with what I've created. We haven't had much gameplay yet but just the idea of being able to send my para outside to smell the flowers and lean against a tree makes me happy
They have been doing amazing, and I love how they are being realistic with us and setting boundaries with what they can/will add. Personally, horses does feel like a stretch. I ain't a developer at all, but it seems they would be under pressure from all these announced life sim games, and they need to be very conscious of their budget - it isn't a very big budget at all. Despite that, they are still doing so amazing, and I hope they don't feel to much pressure/ expectations, much of their fanbase are happy to wait.
I was not sure of the graphix of the avatar themselves at first.... but the look is growing on me (especially since i am a graphic artist myself =) I LOVE the "comic book" style!!!
It really is nice of them to take their time with the game’s development. Been years since we first heard about it. It’s like they’re taking into accounts the things that are limited in their future rival game(s), and trying to bring as many features as possible into their main ‘base’ game. Treat yourself! The world is so much brighter and better with something to balance the drama~ Also Paralives looks so cute, and so good. It kind of reminds me of the New York New York manga, maybe because it's style is so unique and different!
I love the little details. The basket on that bike is ABOVE the bike light. TS4 just stuck the basket right over the light. 🙄 Garbage bin and recycle bin. There's even a power meter on the side of the house.
It's interesting to see how the art style is evolving! 😍 You can just see how they have spend a lot of time on it. Tweaking it over the years and improving little aspects. This game is clearly made with love and care. 🥰

I like the style of Paralives more than the one in Life by you. And also, it should be a game that is less demanding of my computer then the life by you will probably be. The black outline reminds me of Disney's 101 Dalmatians. I remember something about that being a very new style and technique for the studio in the 60s and I love the aesthetic to this day.

They have said that their artstyle draws heavily from Studio Ghibli movies! When you look at the hand-drawn textures on environments and the outlined-cartoon (or ig anime) style characters as a contrast it really makes sense!
I know the sims 4 has us all fed up but I just want to say the grass is always greener on the other side until you get to the other side hehe that's why I'm not putting my hopes in a new game, paralives or sims 5 bc everything is going to have issues, just different issues and I prefer sameness. I rather deal with the well known issues of the sims 4 than new issues from new games, specially sims 5 which will come bare bc new simulations games always do. There is no way for the "other side" to be worse than TS4, for me at least. I haven't been excited about this game since it's launch in 2014! Can it just finally die off. It's been long enough. The problems in this game aren't problems we had with any other Sims game and the main problems with it will still exist even if the game goes on for 10 more years. 🙄

Yesterday I felt like building instead of playing and searched for unique or weird floor plans and a lot were very curved. Nautilus shell shapes and all. Definitely can’t do that in Sims 4. Looks way more possible in Paralives.
Also when it comes to the weather aspect that’s a big annoyance for me in Sims 4. Each new pack the builds are only made with base game and the specific pack in mind. Then when winter hits sims are freezing or burning to death in summer. University housing is designed for locked build mode so you have to use enable free build to be able to add a thermostat. Lol
The art direction reminds me like what Need for Speed Unbound did with its character models, but this works better because the cel shaded characters are in stylized environments rather than juxtaposed into realistic cars and maps.
I lean towards this more than the other life simulator in the works I think in a big part due to the graphics. I like games on the cartoony side. The game looks fantastic really.

I´m not a builder, I generally download other people´s builds in the sims, but with this tool, I´m dying to try it. I want to build my own dream home! I just wish I can do it in the style that I want. I live in rural northern Spain, and we have a specific look on houses, with celtic roots. Hope that I can build them now, and made them look ok.
honestly I'm gonna be a bit sad that I won't be able to spice up the game play with magic, sometimes I want to play sims inspired by shows like charmed, Ted or wizards of wavily place or other nerdy shows. but I'm downloading it anyway cuz this game has the best building tools I've ever seen in any single game. I'm excited to see how having a job works in Paralives, and how they are gonna go with how the pregnancy system works. just yes!!!
I respectfully disagree about people not playing for occults or weird things, im def one of those people 🤣 The minute I saw that I could curse my Sims, make vampires and werewolves, get them eaten by cow plants, thats what made me want to play lol I love weird shit and life is full of little quirks, things we don't understand, insane things that happen to us so I would say that these little things are what make life simulation games exciting imo. Im kinda bummed Paralives won't have occults but I'm excited to see what they can do anyway 🥰
I hope that Life by You coming out in the fall will draw in the Sims community, give them something to do, so that there'll be less pressure on the Paralives team ^^ So far, Life by You seems more solid on gameplay, and could have more content and scope since it's from Paradox, but Paralives looks sooooooooooo pretty and lovely and full of love ! I'm really really curious how these two games will turn out !
Maybe they can make a supernatural DLC, that would be awesome. For me, I love playing with supernatural things, but I get they're trying to be realistic, so this could be a good way of implementing it.
Paralives reminds me of Stardew Valley for some reason, I think it just looks like the cozy; comforting kind of game that you play to relax after a stressful day. The Sims 4 just feels like trying to keep your sims alive instead of actual gameplay (what gameplay? lol), Paralives looks more like a warm; calm *life* game and less of a stressful; BORING *surviving* game

Me too ! I love medieval fantasy in the sims 😂 ( involving so much CCs and mods lol)

I just wish I can do it in the style that I want. I live in rural northern Spain, and we have a specific look on houses, with celtic roots. Hope that I can build them now, and made them look ok.
honestly I'm gonna be a bit sad that I won't be able to spice up the game play with magic, sometimes I want to play sims inspired by shows like charmed, Ted or wizards of wavily place or other nerdy shows. but I'm downloading it anyway cuz this game has the best building tools I've ever seen in any single game. I'm excited to see how having a job works in Paralives, and how they are gonna go with how the pregnancy system works. just yes!!!

I respectfully disagree about people not playing for occults or weird things, im def one of those people 🤣 The minute I saw that I could curse my Sims, make vampires and werewolves, get them eaten by cow plants, thats what made me want to play lol I love weird shit and life is full of little quirks, things we don't understand, insane things that happen to us so I would say that these little things are what make life simulation games exciting imo. Im kinda bummed Paralives won't have occults but I'm excited to see what they can do anyway 🥰
I hope that Life by You coming out in the fall will draw in the Sims community, give them something to do, so that there'll be less pressure on the Paralives team ^^ So far, Life by You seems more solid on gameplay, and could have more content and scope since it's from Paradox, but Paralives looks sooooooooooo pretty and lovely and full of love ! I'm really really curious how these two games will turn out !

Maybe they can make a supernatural DLC, that would be awesome. For me, I love playing with supernatural things, but I get they're trying to be realistic, so this could be a good way of implementing it.
Paralives reminds me of Stardew Valley for some reason, I think it just looks like the cozy; comforting kind of game that you play to relax after a stressful day. The Sims 4 just feels like trying to keep your sims alive instead of actual gameplay (what gameplay? lol), Paralives looks more like a warm; calm *life* game and less of a stressful; BORING *surviving* game

So nice to see you in such a good mood! I would be fine if the swapped out the horses for hamsters, birds, snakes, turtles, and tropical fish. I'm not a programmer, but just seems smaller pets would be easier.
