Oh also, I never got why so many cozy games revolve around time syncing, we need more cozy games that aren't based on putting in hundreds of hours, something I can boot up for a few minutes feel welcomed and feel accomplished when I log off. How would it be done, idk, but it is definitely welcomed.
Care to describe the game that could be _the dark souls of cozy games?_ just a few notes on what its basis should be. Other than that, i was thinking *Aground* could be it, but at the same time it might not be cozy enough(because of nah, spoiler...), but the soundtrack, Gameplay, story(...) sure is. Oh thinking about the hoarding scala, maybe not. But still the game sure is a hidden gem.
idk why I find heavy post-processing of cold or warm tones cozy, with the orange or blue overlay you just feel a bit cozier, it's welcoming. and RAIN rain is so good, u even have it in many of your stock footages.
There must be something wrong with me because none of the most popular cosy games feel cosy to me. They feel anxiety inducing. They give me a big list of things to do, people counting on me to do them, time limits to do them in... It feels more like a work simulator to me than something I could do to relax. When I imagine a perfect cosy game I imagine something like dragon quest builders but with the story stripped out. Just a sandbox with people in it making requests. "Please sir, build me a house" "please sir build me a beach" "please sir build me a bridge so I can get over it." And gradually, at my own pace and in my own style, I go from a little void to an entire world. Make is a cosy sandbox roguelite. I start with only dirt but every request I fulfil unlocks a new thing I can build and then I can start a new world with those all unlocked and build differently. I think this time I'll start with air instead of earth and build everything in the sky. It's sandbox and roguelite because I like those kinds of gameplay but it's cosy because there's nothing in the gameplay to stress about. It's just a thing to do at my own pace in my own way and a motivation for doing it. Because you could say this is basically minecraft but there is no insentive in minecraft to build and if you run out of ideas, you quit. Also creepers exist and make it anti-cosy. Also also there's no reason this idea has to be done voxel style. I never imagine it that way myself. I know the only replies I'll get will be from people who didn't really read the coment recomending I try something that doesn't satisfy what I'm looking for but I keep posting these coments everywhere anyway because maybe there'll be one person in the whole world who'll think "yeah actually that's a fair point, if a list of tasks and a penalty for poor time management is a cosy game then why isn't university life cosy. It's stressful as hell. Ok lets try a cosy game like her idea. One task, a reason to do it, and no time limit."
Cosy games can be nice, but I see many gamer sick of them too. I guess people either love them or hate them. Either way I'll look forward to your devlog on the cozy game.
Games that call themselves “cozy” almost always suck. It’s you are a dev, keep options open for your players. If some people want to play your game fast-paced and time-sensitive they can. If they just want to relax and do things at their own pace, they can do that as well. But most cozy games lock players in the 2nd option, forcing you to play the game at a snails pace just for the sake of “vibes”.
True but some people are there for the cozy vibes and don't mind being locked into that second option because that's what they are there for. I will say having flexibility does allow your game to reach a larger audience, which is always great.
Sometimes, _cute & cozy_ as a (self-) label is used as a blanket cover. _It's boring? No, it's cozy. Too grindy? No, it's slow burn. No substance? No, it's cute._

Make a cozy game about letting the effing genre breathe and not over saturating it any further.
All cozy games about working and crafting
All games are these days.

Jack of all games end up pleasing none. Especially indie games.
