Just want to go on record saying I love your playing the most of anyone doing gear demos, full stop. Very versatile ability, technically pristine, but also evocative. If you're in a band, I want to listen to it.
I also prefer the teck 21 even if the selling price is much higher. It sounds better in my ear despite the very good quality of the Mooer. Thanks a lot for this very good VS. Excellent job.
What can I say, satisfaction is the combination of sound quality and the price 😅 So yeah, just bought a used Red Truck, and thank you so much for the review, u r the best... 🤗🤗🤗
I wish I had known about these 8 years ago when I first started playing live. I spend so much time and money buying/selling/trading gear. I love my setup now: gtr>Polytune mini>Dunlop mini volume>HX stomp>fx send>TimeFactor>BigSky>fx return. Small, yet very capable.
Fantastic comparison - thanks so much for doing this. Even though the Tech 21 is less tweakable and more expensive, I think it's what I will spring for. The sound quality seems fantastic and I like that it has the onboard amp-simulating pre-amp. I can always add some modulation pedals in the fx loop if needed.
Just what I did. I bought the Tech21. I have my chorus and tremolo (both Boss) in the FX loop with the final output to my amp's clean input. Sounds great. I found that the compressor doesn't help much with this unit so I removed it from my setup. Edit: You cannot use the headphone with the unit. You can however connect it to your amp or computer and use the headphones that way.
Great video. On the Tech 21 I don't think you combined the blonde and plexi, which is how I use it all the time giving an extra dimension to the overall sound. BTW great playing.
When the video changed from the red truck "overdrive" to the playing on the "sansamp" section being used as an overdrive into the front end of the H&K, the improvement in sound quality was dramatic. To my ears the red truck has some a/d d/a conversion going on and the tech21 is all analog
good job explaining these, I'm thinking of getting a pedal like one of these, was also looking at the NUX Cerberus and the TC Plethora (too expensive for me!). I like Mooer but can always trust Tech 21 products and I agree with your assessment, thank you!
I have an older 21 Kotzen pedal and it has a prominent bass that’s there no matter what. The pedal is a different distortion than the red truck, which I purchased recently. I don’t like the 21 through my Fender amps but sounds great through my old superlead re issue, the 1987S, yes, S. It also sounds great in my old Peavy Bandit 65, it kind of tames down the hiss somehow. The delay is great and the reverb is pretty good. The pre amp doesn’t have much gain but it has enough for that grainy growl with an open G. The Red Truck I like but I use the boost with the bass up more than half way which fills in and gives it a fuller sound with distortion. The depth and level controls in the delay are finicky. Sometimes there’s like no delay, I have to turn those knobs to get any delay out of it. There’s more but I’m tired of typing. Reverbs are good in the r truck.
Hi, I recently purchased the Tech 21 Fly Rig 5 v2 , I've noticed that when I set a delay tempo and then press the dotted 8th it does fine but then when I put the dotted 8th button off it does not play the normal delay.. It just continues with the dotted modified delay even with it off. Is this normal or a flaw ?
You are one of THE BEST reviewers on guitar products I have seen! And I watch WAY TOO many!!
Cheers man!

Great Job! Fly Rig 5 has the edge. The sound is just a bit better to my ear!

That is all I would ever need. I have the stuff for equivalent sort of. But my volume pedal is the Me80. Hahah I need a volume pedal standalone.
@@robertclarkguitar I actually changed this setup to an even simpler one about a year or so ago!

Did you go for it ? how do you like it ? Can you use headphones for silent practice ?? Thanks

Your honest reviews helped me in my buying decision. Thank you for the good work! Greetings from Germany
You provide a superb and thorough comparison. I subscribed dude.

Fly is definitely winner with a perfect sound here
Nice demo, thanks. I thing Mooer is a toy, but TECH21 is a tool :-)
Hey Man,
Great sound and video !
I ask you, what do u prefer? Mooer or Tech 21 ? Why ?
Thanks a lot !!! 🔝🔝🔝

Why no headphone out on the tech 21? I know the RK version has it... but I feel the fly rig 5 is more versatile, what are your thoughts ?
To my ears, the Tech 21 sounds much better, more natural.
This video, very very good!
The Tech 21 had a more professional sound quality all settings.
needs a chug test haha
Admired your play
More than the device
Great demo, do you play with a major band? If you don’t, you should😊😊
Used to be in the pub circuit before the pandemic hit. Right now I just have my death metal band called MOTHFLESH. We're on Spotify!
Will it Vai?
