I feel spoiled. I just picked up my 1st Tesla, a new Model X (about 3 weeks ago actually) and I'm still trying to get used to how amazing FSD is. I appreciate these videos and the new Tesla community.
I grew up in IL miss these roads and areas, and cannot wait to get a TESLA!!!!!! Like I've heard others say, yes we want robotaxi tomorrow with flawless driving, but honestly lets just enjoy these moments along the journey before we get there. Great video Mr Geek
My 2020 Model 3 on FSD v12.3.6 was doing really well with speed bumps at night while it was raining tonight! I was very impressed. There also was a “No Right Turn On Red” sign at a red light and the car didn’t go, I am not sure if that is in the map data or not though. I was impressed with that as well
Version 12 introduced training by watching video samples showing "good driving" collected from drivers. Starting in 12.5, however, they don't even do that anymore. They use a simulator to generate videos suitable for training and then train on those videos. They literally have one computer teach another computer how to drive and push the skills out to a million cars. It is wild when you think about it.
Training off of video did not begin with v12, it just became far more efficient and flexible because almost all of the traditional coding was removed, which left it 99% AI coding. As for your second claim, I'd love to know why you think that. Tesla has always asserted that real-world data is necessary and their chief advantage over competitors.
Really good video. Couple items you might want to check on. 1. Buying a new Tesla now is cheaper than the average vehicke sold in the United States. 2. You don't lose 40% of your range in Sub Zero temperatures. 20% is what is generally reported as a worse case. An exception to thwt is if your car is parked in Sub Zero temps, then you will use energy to prevent the battery temperature from dropping below acceptable levels.
Re: potholes, the AI simply has not yet learned to avoid understand and them. It is simple as that. They are quite visible to the cameras. Basically think of it this way, whatever problem scenario you car considering (potholes, blind turns, etc): if a human driver could see and react properly given a big screen with all 8 camera views, then it is not a cameras limitation, at all; it's just an "intelligence" issue for the AI which needs more of the right training to deal with that scenario. For many scenarios, the always-on 360 vision and reaction time of the AI could give it better-than-human ability, but still requires a level of "intelligence" able to take advantage of the 360 vision & reaction times.
Like for birdie. Glad he’s okay. Haha, great videos. I enjoyed your other video about the drive around downtown a lot. I’m on Model S Plaid 2021… patiently waiting for FSD 12.5!
I only see very small improvements with FSD 12.5.1.5 vs FSD 12.3.6 in HW3, in some areas 12.5 is worse than 12.3, below are a few of my observations: 1. driving under the speed limit for long periods of time, I have to press the accelerator pedal to get up to the speed limit. 2. not slowing down for speed bumps, not avoiding potholes. 3. choosing the wrong lane and waiting too long before trying to move into the correct lane. I have not gone over 30 miles without safety interventions in the last week. I'm using FSD 12.5.1.5 in the Chicago NW Suburbs v2024.26.20 on a 2023 Model Y HW3
Well according to TeslaFi after few days of release, they completely stopped Hardware 3 car pushes of FSD 12.5.1.5 on 8-28-24. Then pushed the latest summer update we haven’t gotten any updates since May 1st.
11:28: "The one thing it doesn't do right now"? You mean other than Avoiding dozens of other obstacles, Reversing, Routing around Closed Roads, and Consistently doing all sorts of other stuff? 🤨 17:16: It's not expensive to get a Tesla, it's expensive to get a new car. Among new cars, Tesla has excellent TCO. 24:30: What you should do with your hands is put them (at least one) on the wheel. FSD still screws up sometimes, including dangerously. Until that is no longer the case, you should minimize your reaction time by keeping your hands as ready as possible.
Can you please always add a chapter at the time 00:00 called "start of the video" or something? It is needed for UA-cam to display the chapters in the timeline...
So, to not know what to do with the hands is kind of a new issue... In a nutshell: with FSD, driving will become even more boring than it already is! 😂 Hopefully FSD gets resolved soon and comes to Europe as well, so that in a few decades I still will be able to "drive" my own car. That would be awsome, not only for me.
It’s interesting,it’s not safe for a human to change lanes in an intersection, because we only have one pair of eyes. But the car has 8 eyes so can be sure if a manoeuvre in an intersection is safe or not!
It's a design choice not a capability issue. You have no option but to use one pedal driving with Tesla. People buying a Tesla know they are getting something different. Legacy car makers need to make sure they don't make something too different to what their existing customers are already used to and their customers are used to the car coasting and to have to use the brake pedal to slow down.
It's illegal to change lanes in the middle of an intersection in most states not sure if it's in all states. Pretty impressive that the car knows this.

Congratulations. You made the right choice
Teslas are such a better experience over essentially anything else. Welcome to the family 💙

12.5.x definitely has regressions for speed bumps and dips.
Chicago resident and new Tesla owner here, love your videos!
5 is ALIVE!
Like your drives because they're local. It makes you feel like ok maybe this would work for where I drive.

Single solid white lines are generally legal to cross, but discouraged since the area is risky. Double solid white lines are not legal to cross.
great job!
TechGeek Tesla, cool video it was really good

Mine definitely loses up to 40% sometimes. I believe this is the case for older Teslas, before the heat pump was added to cut down the losses.

would you consider upgrading to the highland model 3

which models has 12.5? who has it now? he has 12.5 on 2019 and yours is newer. why dont' u have it yet?
"Don't change lanes in an intersection" also applies to the solid white lines approaching an intersection (and all other solid white lines!).
Great vid 👌

12.3.6 just gung ho over potholes and speed bumps for me so i wont notice any difference
Amazing.
Nice video. You could also ask Andy if, at any moment, he felt so comfortable with FSD that he stopped paying attention to the road himself.
I have pain in my right leg and could benefit from self driving for the gas and break. I've been waiting until the tech improved. Is it ready?
Does it get out of the way for emergency vehicle sirens or do you have to take over control?
It doesn't
7:45 I always see CHILL at the top of my screen even if I have the driving mode set to Assertive.
You have the fsd mode and the "acceleration" mode, maybe something is off

@@adron115 ooh! I didn’t know this trick. I will do it. Thanks.
Where is the shot at the beginning from your face?
How do I know if my hardware 3, 2023 model y will have v 12.5 if I rent it ?

forget FSD-not having Start Button & HOLD will spoil/surprise the newbie.
The video quality is great. I am sure a lot of hard work in editing
I really want 12.5.1... I'm still stuck on 12.3.6, wasting my 3 month subscription
Hi, How can i contact for cooperation inquiry?
Slamming on brakes at blinking yellow lights is not a good idea Tesla...
It’s interesting,it’s not safe for a human to change lanes in an intersection, because we only have one pair of eyes.
But the car has 8 eyes so can be sure if a manoeuvre in an intersection is safe or not!
Why hasn’t tesler adopted blended brakes like everybody else?
Pardon my ignorance... what are blended brakes?
