I’ve watched over a thousand of these FSD review videos.. and this was right up there in terms of quality. Please keep making them! Great to have some reviews from someone who isn’t trying to just say it’s amazing all the time..
I drive an 18 wheeler for a living. Im tired of driving. Love FSD to get me home and to work and to deal with traffic. I can lower my alertness level when using FSD and just keep an eye out.
I’ve used FSD 99% of the time since we purchased a Model Y the end of July. At first I thought it was just unique..the car drives itself. But no…it makes for relaxing trips. I don’t bitch about traffic, which causes arguments with the wife and I’m more relaxed when I get where we’re going. Offered to do a down and back 1.5 hour each way drive to the Jersey shore and back yesterday. FSD the whole way. Drives too slow on 2 lane highways in rural parts. Have to push the accelerator to get up to the “max” speed that’s set. The acceleration from a stop is pretty strong for a mid-60’s dude. Maybe it’s normal for a 30 year old but not a mid-60’a dude🤷♂️
This is a very well-produced FSD video. I love just seeing your raw reactions to simple things. It just reminds me of how revolutionary and awesome this technology is, despite the media's downplaying of its actual capabilities.
Bro you're not alone with merging on the highway at highway speeds. People who merge 20 mph slower than highway speeds and drive all the way up until the last moment until the merge lane ends...instead of just taking the safe opportunities to get in. I'll never understand it.
It's a common kowledge than an engine wil lblow up if you rev it higher than 3k rpm.... Also, most people are entitled and prefer to feel "safe" in their own minds than to actually think for once and move faster for 15 seconds.
Had a guy try to stay the same speed being side by side with me running himself off the road. I had a car to my left and He couldn't decide to slow down or speed up. After getting back ON the highway he went 20 above.
People don’t look further than the front of their hood. How do you not see the lane is ending or construction up ahead. People see an empty lane and ride that mf until they jump in front of the tractor trailer at the end of the merge. Not sure why there is ALWAYS a big truck blocking the merge 🤔😂
I use FSD every chance I get. Having more than a million CDL driving miles under my belt; I’m digging being chauffeured around for a change. Also holding a decent amount of TSLA shares; I like to see FSD’s progress and what’s to come. I think FSD is a value at 8K in its current state and I’m running HW3! Call me a Fanboi all you want. I just believe in the company and where it’s headed. No one else is close!
Your premium data gives you live traffic analysis...hence the route avoiding the school zone during high traffic to speed up your drive. I used 12.5, glad you got a chance to see just how amazing its coming along.
I’m in my lower 70’s and love FSD. I use it most of the time when I’m driving on either local roads or highways. The one time I never use it is when I’ve got to get from point A to point B very quickly. That’s what I really love about my M3FSD.
I had the FSD for the first 30 days after the purchase of my Tesla Y and really enjoyed using it. Living on a small island, (Maui, Hawaii) I don't really need it. It was FUN though. My first experience was an eye opener as it sees the road out of my driveway before I do due to it's cameras and pulled out quickly and was up to speed much faster than I do..wheeeeeee..then around the corner..wheeee...I picked up one of my friends and we had (Apollo, my Tesla Y's new name) take us upcountry to Makawao and down Baldwin ave to Paia...Anyone who has been here knows that there are a lot of curves and challenges on that drive...It pulled over when an abulance came out of nowhere, when a guy on a bike decided to jump out too...and doing down Baldwin, tight turns was like being on a ride at the fair..wheeeee! It performed perfectly and the version I have cautioned my friend to keep her hands on the wheel. She was wearing bight blue mirrored sunglasses and it still worked??? Mahalo (Thank you) Jeremiah, I love your videos! If I need self drive, I will just buy a monthly and purchase as needed. Now to have it park itself..never experienced that. I like the parallel option!
Leaving stop signs and lights seems to be so much better in this version. The last version seemed to wait so long to go. Like it waited for a gap 5 times bigger than it needed.
I’ve had my M3P for just over a week now and love FSD using for just about all of my daily drives. I started on 12.3 and after about 4 days got the 12.5 update, which smoothed out the lane changes and love the full hands free. I’m sold and will be keeping on subscription after me 30 days free.
fsd is way better then u make it seem i use it 99.99% of the time ive done 42 long drives with full fsd no interventions even parked itself at the end perfectly
Just last night did a 202-mile, 3 1/2 hour drive from Aspen, CO to Boulder, CO, FSD the whole way. That’s twisty roads, multiple mountain passes with thousands of feet of elevation climb/descent each, both US highway and interstates and even some city driving, all at night. I was shocked how well it did. Just one single intervention at one particularly strange spot in Golden (180 miles in and completely out of the mountains), and 202 Wh/mi total efficiency.
I love FSD on my 2024 model y the only issue I have is if I use the automatic speed offset, the car tries to get me speeding tickets. Like 1 time it was doing 20 over the speed limit and I had to keep disengaging it. Or in 1 specific place coming into the town where I live, the speed goes from 55 to 45 then 35 and the car “max speed” changes on the screen bit the car doesn’t slow down so I end up doing 55-60 in a 35. But that only happens in 1 place.
Okay, I am new to exploring Tesla for getting one, love this FSD video. With the new version of FSD what years are the "New" years that use the in cabin cameras and such that you spoke about earlier in the video about improving the FSD? Thanks for the great content!
The stops signs are annoying because NHTSA has forced FSD to make a full and complete stop to zero even when it’s absolutely clear. Which also, I know that’s the law but it’s a little annoying and I noticed you noticing it lol. Same deal with right on reds.
No absolutely, like I get it’s the law. However, at the same time I don’t know anyone who actually treats stops signs like that every time especially on completely clear intersections like in this video and as a result it is the number one cause of me getting honked at on FSD. People just don’t drive like that nor do they expect you to. I love that it follows the law and I very much think it should but that’s where one of the biggest annoyances for people is and I only bring it up here because I noticed him in this video commenting on it a couple times.
When getting on an Interstate, whenever possible I am already picking where I want to merge with the traffic (for example behind that semi) and start increasing my speed as soon as possible to match speeds and merge as smoothly as rotating gears.
Coming to an exit it often switches to the fast lane with less than a mile to go. Also, if cross someone turns from the center lane on a large road with 4 lanes, it slams the brakes all the way. Once on a difficult merge it drove me into traffic then said ' take over'. High acceleration saved my ass
I don't know if it's just my car, but the moment I got FSD 12.5 the car no longer maintains speed. I have to press the accelerator to get it back up where it belongs. If the speed limit increases... say 45 to 55, it sits at 45 unless I press the accelerator to get it up to 55.
One thing that hasn't been fixed that's been happening all the time, is when I'm in the carpool/express lane and it splits up into exiting the lane, the car would move to the middle of the carpool/express lane and the opening to the carpool/express exit and gets confused on where to go even when I want to stay in the carpool/express lane.
Mr. Jones, excellent work, very informative video. Does anyone think that HW3 or 4 will one day be capable of FSD that doesn’t require driver attention/intervention?
As of V12.5, the NN is trained for HW4, then optimized and distilled for HW3. I think there may be more HW4 cars on the road now than HW3, and HW4 is the path forward, so it makes sense to prioritize their biggest market. In order to be able to claim old FSD money as income, they have to keep working diligently to keep HW3 performance as close to HW4 as possible.
I want to ask your advice on something. I recently bought the Tesla model three dual motor and I was looking on the underside of the car the undercarriage and I found some damage plastic parts and there’s a metal part. Looks like maybe somebody ran over something I don’t know if I’m getting off the truck. I’ve already got 400 miles on it. What’s your advice about how I should handle that getting them to fix it.
FSD is great but im still on 12.3.6 and the lane changing (even minimal lane change checked) is less than stellar. It changed lanes to a right turn only, even though we needed to continue straight, then immediately changed back to the original lane
Try this FSD in Southern California and 8 lanes of traffic bumper to bumper and see how far you can go before you disengage or if critical error takeover required
Easiest thing ever for FSD. There is even no way to fail that, you just go straight, stop, go, stop, go, stop, go..... Basic free Tesla autopilot will be enough for that.
It could be the persons car, speaking of getting up to interstate speeds at on ramps. I have a 2017 Jeep Cheeokee Sport base model and I cant go zoom zoom, so when im getting on hwy its always about 45-55 mph. I also go spd limit the ramp suggests. I was in an accident when I was a 12ish, my gma was in an accident that left her unable ro walk and I know people who have been in accidents that didnt come out unscathed. Also some people dont let you get on the hwy from the ramp, just oblivious or uncourteous. Lots of reasons preventing people from hitting max moh getting on interstate
All turns need a turn signal. I don't know why you keep saying you don't think it does, but you'll allow it. Unless it's different in different states. But to my knowledge you should always use your signal.
The car used the turn signal on a road that was just curving… it wasn’t a turn, it was the same road but with a sharp curvature and the car triggered the turn signal. It was unnecessary.
Was highway yesterday withFSD Several times the FSD went into the left lane and passed a slower car but then went back to the right hand lane way too soon and I had to disengage. This happened over and over even when I had it in chill mode. This is really scary and I wonder why I'm paying for having to pay MORE attention to what's going on. Anyone else having this problem? Should I contact TESLA support? Is it something with my personal download? It seems perfect in town but at 70 to 75 I can't afford these kind of gliches.
I’m getting my first Tesla it will be a Model 3 long range AWD and I was wondering if anyone in the comments could tell me if it’s just worth it to order a 24’ M3P instead of the 24’ Long Range AWD or wait and drive the Long Range AWD and trade it in in about a year or so for a M3P. I will be financing my Tesla and it would be about a $120 dollar difference every month. The M3P was really what I wanted but I decided to settle for the Long range instead because I’m located in a colder climate and I will have to buy all new tires for the winter with the M3P. If any other Model 3 Highland owners can give me their opinion let me know would be appreciated. I’m new to the Tesla Fam.
Definitely go with the M3P. Never settle if you were really wanting the M3P. The long range will never fill that void that the M3P will. It’s just a better car in every way. Plus the look and ride quality is 👌. The long range AWD is a GREAT car. But if you’re wanting a tesla for Performance/Handling/looks. You gotta go with the Performance. I have a 2021 Model 3 Performance with upgraded MPP suspension, and a 2024 Model 3 Performance. Both are amazing
i just got my 2024 model 3 4 days ago but im still on 12.3.6, Any tips on how to push the update or get it quicker? Ive gotten 2 system updates and a map update but no FSD. i also have the advanced update setting on
Don’t sweat it. They’ll push the update in a few days. They want you to have the latest and greatest software so you’ll buy the subscription. It sure worked on me. Got ours end of July and I’m gonna for sure do the subscription cause I use FSD 99% of the time.
The vast majority of people who purchased or subscribed to FSD are on 12.3.6. I'm thinking of dumping the whole thing because I had a critical failure on 12.3.6 and I've never gotten any update to it. Paying money for beta software is bad enough but not even getting updates to it is pure BS.
@@lashlarue59 Yep…my understanding is those with hardware version 3 the update will come out later or be a different version number. We got the update 4-5 days after delivery on a new Model Y with HW4, end of July. I’m pulling the trigger on the subscription service in a few days but expect to get timely updates.
@@fgrodriguezqac the day/night rate plans aren't that much of a difference. Cheaper at night but more expensive during the day - however more than 50 percent of our bill is "power supply charges" which don't change based on that rate plan
New FSD was fantastic, until the recent updates completely broke the speed control. It drives insanely slow now. It was fantastic until made it hands free. I'll gladly take the wheel nag back if it means it drives at a reasonable speed.
FSD can't read most signs. As a result, it uses alleys, cut-throughs and almost any pavement it can see. It also stops on diagonal white lines with a "Do Not Block" sign in bold black and white near the leading edge.
bingo to me fsd when beta was complete complete garbage as every day i got "cameras occluded...degraded" so bad i had cameras replaced but to no help..so only substantive improvement on supervised was elimination of that complete complete garbage and now rarely get occluded..now amongst many fails is the continuous nag..i suspect only real big improvement to 12.5.??? will be elimination of touch steering wheel nag...other than that FSD as a sunny day too lazy too drive tooting around town seems fine but not worth $12K or $8K or $5K or $2K which is why FSD has such low penetration.
Only issue with the latest FSD update is it’s SLOW. It should be called Granny Self Driving. If the limit is set to 40 mph…it’ll take forever to get up to 35-36 mph and then just sit at that speed, refusing to ever go up to 40 mph. It’s just way too slow and overly cautious to use FSD. I hope they’ll fix this major issue
I’ve watched over a thousand of these FSD review videos.. and this was right up there in terms of quality. Please keep making them! Great to have some reviews from someone who isn’t trying to just say it’s amazing all the time..

Tesla's drive train is in 2012-2014 year Toyota Electric Ravv 4's, and that might be why some Tesla-labeled parts were found there.
The stops signs are annoying because NHTSA has forced FSD to make a full and complete stop to zero even when it’s absolutely clear. Which also, I know that’s the law but it’s a little annoying and I noticed you noticing it lol. Same deal with right on reds.

Now i can Drink while driving 🫶🏼
The FSD UA-camr comment is so funny 😭
i just got my 2024 model 3 4 days ago but im still on 12.3.6, Any tips on how to push the update or get it quicker?
@@Skyking6976 Good luck I had the subscription to FSD for 3 months and I never received a single update, not one
I am HW3 and do not have the update yet
Electric rates here in NY are over $0.39/kWh right now 😅
How about at night? Rates are cheaper during the off peak hours. Thats why it’s best to charge overnight.
@@fgrodriguezqac just a few cents. Still over 30 cents per kWh
Lol pretty entertaining.
What is that thing under your rear view mirror?
Looks like a radar detector to spot cops
Oh okay thanks. Where did you get that?
FSD can't read most signs. As a result, it uses alleys, cut-throughs and almost any pavement it can see. It also stops on diagonal white lines with a "Do Not Block" sign in bold black and white near the leading edge.
80% of my driving is FSD. much safer and more relaxing
Is this running FSD 12.5.1.5?
He says the version in the video....
i don't think so, most likely .4 , as the .5 is only pushed to HW3 influencers at this point
0:44 to 0:55 FSD 12.5.1.3
@@troydelgado1271 Thanks
You got somewhere to be. lol.
bingo to me fsd when beta was complete complete garbage as every day i got "cameras occluded...degraded" so bad i had cameras replaced but to no help..so only substantive improvement on supervised was elimination of that complete complete garbage and now rarely get occluded..now amongst many fails is the continuous nag..i suspect only real big improvement to 12.5.??? will be elimination of touch steering wheel nag...other than that FSD as a sunny day too lazy too drive tooting around town seems fine but not worth $12K or $8K or $5K or $2K which is why FSD has such low penetration.
Smart not adding the FSD version in the title as it gets more people to click. Nobody wants to watch FSD 11 in August 2024
Funny🤔 people are saying it's accelerating too fast 🤔 or are u just driving fast 🤔
Terribke
Still dont trust fsd seems like 14 year old driving
