    I didn't realize the amount of thought Trevor put into this bridge. And if StewMac carries it, it's got to be the cat's meow.

    I use them on all my Tele-bridge guitars. Also I convinced all my friends so they use those too.

    Two of my all time heroes when it comes to guitar luthiering and hardware design. Damn I would love to shake both of your hands gents - Dan for his tutorials and Trevor for his great hardware and pickups at affordable prices for mere mortals. Also love his partnership with JHS and some of the Vintage guitars can put certain bigger names to shame for build quality and playability.

    bought the more trad compensated bridge saddles, took 20 minutes to fit and setup and now my guitar intonates "perfectly" on all strings. Thanks Trev

    I wish they did a demo on how it rotates. How does it work? I can't find any info or pics.
    1 saddle is split into 2 shifting pieces, up and down?

    I have one of these but I never really got my intonation better than I could with the original one. When you adjust the barrels, the strings sit differently on each side, and it throws off the spacing.

    The 2-string saddle design that swivels is an interesting set-up. Are there any situations where intonation of one string does not allow perfect intonation of the other string attached to that particular saddle? For example if you set the intonation of one string perfectly, and then move on to the other string, and that requires the saddle to rotate or swivel, you automatically shift the position of the first string which will change its intonation.

    • @sephuh353
      @sephuh353 5 років тому +1

      Petra Kann there is also adjustment to move saddles but it wasnt mentioned in the video. you can see 3 philips screws at end for adjusting.

    • @josephtravers777
      @josephtravers777 5 років тому +4

      You would have to get adjacent strings same cents sharp or flat, then move saddle to compensate for both strings simultaneously.

    • @PetraKann
      @PetraKann 5 років тому

      @@josephtravers777 That would work. Although it would not produce "perfect" intonation due to the different thicknesses and vibrational characteristics of the two adjacent strings. Pedantic I know, but I really cant see how this system can produce perfect intonation for each individual string. More of an average for two strings, which is fine for almost all playing (apart from the upper frets)
      As much as I like the original Tele design I changed the ashtray to a chromed "L" plate that enabled individual string intonation adjustment.

    • @Jakeman90210
      @Jakeman90210 5 років тому +4

      I do not understand your point. This bridge does allow perfect intonation like a strat or tune-o-matic bridge. The initial intonation process would take longer but that’s the trade off for having 3 saddles.

    • @PetraKann
      @PetraKann 5 років тому +1

      @@Jakeman90210 Maybe I wasnt clear. What if the locations for the 2 strings to be perfectly intonated are both forward or backward of the centre adjusting screw, but at different distances? You cant adjust for both strings.

    • @ResoBridge
      @ResoBridge 5 років тому

      It is easy enough to show that a three barrel Tele bridge always involves compromise on intonation. You just cannot get intonation spot on over all six strings with a traditional Tele bridge. 4 or 5 cents is about as close as you can get - it varies with string gauge and action height. Even the three saddle designs with fixed compensation result in an error of 2 or 3 cents.
      In theory the Wilkinson bridge with swivel saddles should allow close to perfection.

    His stuff is quite good, and I’ve had good success with it. However - Glendale bridges and compensated saddles with matching string ferrels are better to me. I like a stainless bridge,with aluminum and titanium on a pine body- for a steel bridge, aluminum and brass

    Avoid compensated saddles that are not relieved underneath. These saddles are large, full barrel with no underneath relief. If you like low action, you won't be able to get it, no matter how straight you adjust the neck. They are well made and very solid saddles that did help with intonation. But I went back to my original uncompensated barrels because they did have a bevel on the bottom. I adjusted the intonation pretty close and I can live with the slight imperfection. I'd rather have the low action than perfect intonation. Not bad saddles, but not for me.

    Trevor talks about the effect of the Telecaster bridge and of the steel elevator plate under the pickup (apparently that is what Leo Fender called it) on the magnetic field around the pickup. He implies it has a significant effect on the sound of the Tele bridge pickup as though this is a well established fact. Is there any measured experimental proof that this is the case? I suspect the mechanical vibration characteristics of the bridge are far more important.

    • @ResoBridge
      @ResoBridge 5 років тому +4

      ??? I don't know why so many people regard Leo Fender as perfect. Over time he constantly tweaked and improved his designs. He did always try to make things as simple as possible. The original Precision Bass had only two saddles and the original Tele only three saddles for intonation because he thought he could get away with it as close enough.

      The closer the better but experienced players realize you have to play a guitar in tune and I've never had a problem with a standard tele bridge. When did James Burtons guitar ever sound out of tune, for instance?

    • @ResoBridge
      @ResoBridge 5 років тому

      @@TeleCaster66 I think he means that all tuning systems involve some compromise unless you play in only one key and use Just intonation.
