    These are Noctilucent Clouds up to 85Km up formed in mid summer in Antarcia when you can see the sunlight high up hitting the clouds after dark. One of the most beautiful sights here in the UK in June. Roll on Summer!

    I would LOVE to see that show. Nature is truely wonderful isn't it?

    This is indeed a science channel, but may I remind you that science is often a house of cards built upon a few hard assumptions? We are constantly "baffled", "shocked by findings", or "forced to return to the drawing board". Many books have been written just on the dead ends of science. Notice in a video if the narrator says scientists at such and such "believe" the main action is blah blah. The key words are "suspect, believe, concluded, etc.". Know when something is well established (and could still be wrong) and what is a supposition. They will do this to cover their ass. You listen for these. When we have a TOE then we will have grasped all of existence and how it functions. And hope we like what we find.

    This was interesting but confusing in one respect. As an environmental chemist, the connection between methane and added water vapor high in the atmosphere could not be as simple as explained from the "oxidation of methane to water molecules" as the theory was proposed in the clip. What about the general increase in surface temperatures world wide from the overall increases in all of the GHGs such as manmade CO2 which would then cause increasing the rates of evaporation of fresh and salt water? That would be a much more significant source of upper atmospheric moisture in my opinion.

    Why is there always a black circle in the middle of pictures of Antarctica?

      I'm guessing satellite measurement and orbit restrictions.

      But why would the satellite not be able to measure that specific part?

      ...because that is Area 52. It's where the other Stargate and Ancients outpost is located.

    • @Laughinggray
      @Laughinggray 11 років тому

      Was waiting for the giant mothership but a Stargate, an ancient outpost and a passage to inner Earth will do. Anyone else? Nothing too big, should fit in with the rest.

      LOl. It's already a bit crowded under the black circle by now but a couple of monolithic blocks including Keir and Gary will probably fit and sure match nicely with the rest of the stuff:-)
      NASA has extraordinary costumers I must say.
      (or: how dull life would be without black circles).

    How about positive ions from our Sun drawn in through our magnetic poles that combine with oxygen in our upper atmosphere to creat water which freezes into ice crystals? Simple answers are the best answers.

    Since these do not look like ordinary white or pink evening clouds, the strange blue color is more like fluorescence. Some frequencies of the sunlight are absorbed by the cloud particles, and that energy is faintly re-radiated at the new frequencies (electric-blue), against the darkening sky, or dark side of the earth..

    wait...what? so NASA stated that greenhouse effect is actually true? o.O but they said totally opposite ... those video quality on NASA webpage.. demotivating..

    • @marumiyuhime
      @marumiyuhime 11 років тому

      AGW and the greenhouse effect is not the same thing it would be very cold if we did not have the GHE. get your facts strait. my credentials i am an environmental biologist. if you don't know What AGW is then here anthroprogenic global warming. food for thought 80% of global warming is a result of water vapor. the effect of methane is negligible less than 1% APG does not pass my stink test either but i try not to get involved with that discussion. just wanted to set you strait.

    The AIM project started in 1997. That's 6 years of data and this is the second earliest that the clouds appeared, and NASA don't even fully understand the mechanism behind the clouds yet with this scant amount of data they can surmise that our planet is doomed? Is this enough data and science to state with certainty that we should be concerned with cows and global warming? Please, NASA, get a grip on science and logic.
    Why does NASA so often give in to the urge of damaging beautiful and interesting videos on natural phenomenon with highly speculative analysis? In this case we were treated with an unproven theory of methane and images of some earth-killing cows butts. Shame.

    It appears network isn't strong enough in my present location; and inspite of the good quality smart phone that I' m using, I could hardly play any of the UA-cam videos I've subscribed to. So, I'm not enjoying the science casts.

      nature is beautiful though. Christians are responsible for the dark ages and the destruction of the great library in Alexandria the greatest loss of human knowledge ever. we lost 1000 years of development due to that. real sad
