    How come I haven't heard of this before? I mean this sounds pretty important. Also does this happen to all stars? and does it happen to planets such as our own? Imagine if every 10000 years on earth we had to change where the signs are on our compasses
    haha

    i am curious what would be the scenario for a similar magnetic reversal on planet earth? although far less frequently these cycles seem to take place fairly regularly also

    VERY CONFUSED-she sometimes says the field reverses at maximum, and sometimes that it occurs at the minimum (producing pairs of whole cycles in alternate polarity)...

    We have a lot of people with less than a 6th grade scientific literacy, and when one understands science the whole world opens up like a lotus flower blooming. I have no idea what the world must seem like to them but I can imagine it must be scary and many escape through drugs. The people who generate fake controversy are mostly religious, they also have a dark age view of the world and live in perpetual doomsday fear.

    that's an excellent question, in my book the old cycle # 24 finished on the 17th may 2013, cycle #25 starts on the 28th july 2014 with a reverse polarity, the sun is now at solar minimum and the planets around the solar system should show signs of cooling, keep your eye on the north west passage, it's earth's canary in the coal mine for climate.

  • @markspann
    @markspann 11 років тому +1

    Yes, Phil. You're spot on friend. Wallace Thornhill and Don Scott have more comprehension of how the solar system and the Cosmos work than any two fellas on the planet. They would of course have chuckled, as I'm sure you did, at the newbie errors in logic that riddle this and other NASA science-as-newscast videos. But at least they are able to bring themselves now to use that verbotten "E" word : ELECTRICITY, even if they do have the entire thing backwards. This is clear progress

    Sorry... I just realized that I improperly worded my previous reply. Increased solar activity (and resulting auroras) are NOT likely caused by the magnetic field reversal. The reversal simply signals the peak of activity which is during a time of maximum solar activity.

    Scientists predicted that this year sun activity will be increased greatly. Michio Kaku said that people better be ready by improving their power boxes and electricity controlling stations. Quite a few of those boxes will blow up this year. And a lot of people will lose electricity until things are repaired from that EM blast from sun.

    latest SEPs impacts suggest that the earth magnetic + pole maybe has shifted southwards near to the Equator .
    This year the Sun did not produce so many flares as 2012 , the difference; In 2013 Sun almost only produced socalled Proton flares or SEPs( the strongest on may 21 with protons accelerated almost to c) those all have a deep Impact to the geomag field.
    cosmical influences? solar x ray activity becomes lowest during the soltices- ( gravity from Sagittarius "A" and/or Sirius?)

  • @er3L
    @er3L 11 років тому

    well, plainly then. i haven't researched it, but i highly doubt it. what i suspect is that they are distinguishing between the heliographic and magnetic poles; meaning that 'magnetic north' has moved away from the 'top'. otherwise i am more than baffled - i had missed that statement before.

    There is no Solar Max, neither Solar Minimum. The Solar System is described by Newtonian Mechanics and works as a perfect machine, a wonderful precision clock, at perfect thermodynamic equillibrium.There is flow of energy inside the Sun because Sun is the nucleous of a system which is an evolutionary step created from atoms systems. The movement of energy inside Sun has the same equillibrium of atom nuclei flow of energy. Ok, that's a Matrix/DNA theory model, it can be wrong... also.

    You don't get it :p what they observed since 1976 fit to solar cycle which been observed based on sunspot activity half of 18 century and even earlier but back then there was Maunder Minimum that disturbed solar cycles processes on sun. If it fits to solar cycles and those solar cycles been repeated for so many times it easy to assume it happens with each solar cycle.Not to mention sunspot/active region polarization also is flipped every cycle but on minimum not maximum,been observed earlier too

    magnetic flip obviously means, that electrons within the suns magnetosphere will change their direction, Same as on the earth, the Northern Pole is currently the + or "gravity" pole attrackting solar electrons (measurable esp. after SEP events, The Southern pole contains more energetic electrons (-) attrackting solar protons. My theory: The Sun`s Center of gravity is NOT located right in its middle. and shifts all 11y to the South/ North, Then electrons will also change their direction

  • @ABitOfTheUniverse

    So, after 30 centuries, only 3000 years, we have gained 9 exponents and the and the leading coefficient has little more than doubled. At this rate we will have gained 18 exponents in 60 centuries and the leading coefficient will be approximately 4.2, in other words a little more than 4.2x10^18 tonnes of mass lost from the Earth in six millennia. At that rate there would be nothing left of the Earth in 7,000 years. Of course it won't occur exactly like that, but it will be a similar process.

  • @ABitOfTheUniverse
    @ABitOfTheUniverse 11 років тому

    2.2 billion until what? I think you mean 2.3 until the sun's radius reaches Earth's orbit today. But even if that happens, with the mass Earth has today, it will have forced the Earth out to where Mars is now, maybe even out to the Asteroid Belt. Of course, if we increase the number of spaceships we make and just keep sending bits of Earth (ships) towards the sun, every little nudge will add up and we can put the Earth in exactly the orbit we want it, when we want it there.

  • @ABitOfTheUniverse

    Relax, life has existed for nearly 4 billion years on this planet, maybe longer. We got another 3 or 4 months, tops. Plenty of time do all the things we want to and even lots of things we don't want to, but do anyway. Keep going to work, it'll happen before next tax season so no need to worry there, keep trying to score a date with that smart girl on facebook, keep getting out of your bed. In five month you can go back fighting capitalism, or promoting libertarianism, or whatever you want to do.

Number of sunspots is more then a half smaller then last cycle. Some people believe we might approaching another Maunder Minimum which been observed in 17 and 18 cencury

    The Sun or the Earth?
    The Sun will act up, throwing mass out, so overall it will get cooler. It will always get cooler, overall, as it fuses heavier and heavier nuclei. These active moments might make the outer layers hotter as the inner layers restabilize.
    As for the Earth, chances are very slim we get hit by a CME bad enough to cause serious problems. Worse thing along those lines that has happened during my life was during the spring, 24 years ago. The beauty of the aurora made up for it tho.
