This foundation was inclined to gather in my wrinkles (79 yrs), so I asked the company how I could keep that from happening. She replied that I should not use sunscreen that has any dimethicone in it. That cured the problem.

I’ve been seeing a lot of videos on the foundation lately, so tempted to try it but I have so many foundations going right now. I just wish things weren’t so fragranced. I don’t break out or show any signs of irritation from fragrance, but that doesn’t mean irritation isn’t happening and I’ve read it can interfere with collagen production.

Sorry I am just seeing your comment now. What i have found is that the more of a zero-tolerance policy I take toward any kind of product that causes any kind of irritation at all, the more that I am able to really zero in on things that are even a little bit irritating. That has definitely decreased the products that I am able to use, but on the plus side, my skin is in such better condition that I don't need to use as many products anyway. My skin really is a terrible mess in this video as a result of using the RDF foundation, i am noticing as I re-watch a bit of this video. Which is too bad because I did really like the lab sample of it. In any case, I don't think that fragrance ingredients probably are a good thing for anyone in skincare or makeup. but probably if you have a really strong skin barrier, you are more protected from them, I think. ❤

Great review and choice of product. Does the foundation have any silicones in it?

    • @lisapetrison-beautyreviews

Sorry to not have seen this comment until now. This foundation does not include silicones and I think that none of the other Rituel de Fille products do either. The formula does feel nice, other than the fact that it caused me so much irritation. It is interesting to see how red my face is in this video - good grief! But most people seem to have done fine with it, from what I have seen. ❤

Speaking about Joans Road, I bought a lot of it and I'm STILL trying to find a way to use it without itching and sticking! I just want to cry. I spent so much money, but I was desperate. Rosacea is tough !

I am so sorry to hear that! According to what I hear in the FB group (JRB Roadies), they are supposed to be pretty good about taking things back. They may be overwhelmed with customer requests of all kinds though, so maybe reach out in a different way if you don't get satisfaction. I did find that using a good priimer has been helpful to me in terms of allowing me to wear the products - I especially like using the Jane Iredale Hydropure Tinted Serum as a primer. But i also think that needing to use a primer to a large extent negates the whole no-makeup makeup look vibe they are going for.
Westman Atelier is very expensive, but (apparently because Gucci Westman has rosacea herself), I have never experienced any irritation at all from any of her products. It's very expensive but if I were not all-in with regard to this channel, i think I would probably pretty much just buy a few items from her line and try to be happy with just that in terms of caring for my sensitive skin. 💗

I think your dark eyeshadow looked nicer without the highlighter.

The eyeshadow colours are very nice, as are the lipstick colours, but all the shadows have shimmer. I think shimmer is problematic for most over 50.

Thanks much for your comment! ❤ I know there are some people who suggest that older women would do well not to wear shimmer, but I think it looks nice on them and most of the makeup artists that I have seen discuss the topic recently (including people focusing heavily on the market such as the Jones Road's Bobbi Brown) seem to be pretty strongly suggesting that shimmer can be a nice thing on over-50 women as well. I'm also thinking of Boomsticks by Cindy Joseph, which sells a shimmery highlight stick that they suggest using as an eyeshadow. Some of the RDF Eye Soot colors - including the Half Light one that I demonstrate in the video - are only very slightly shimmery, though. Or some of the Inner Glow shades - such as the Eros one - are nice for use as eye shadows as well.
I will admit that the Fauna (champagne) Eye Soot that I tried on in the video is a little more shimmery than I prefer though. Maybe I will try using that as a cheek highlighter instead.

@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews Personally, I want to look more vital, and not more made up. I think that’s easier when my makeup restores a youthful vibrancy rather than add any shimmer. Different strokes, as they say ;0)

Speak for yourself. Shimmer looks fabulous on women over 50. Too much Metallics, glitter perhaps not but from my experience shimmer colors that aren’t too too light or too dark look best but any well placed color is flattering.

I like a little shimmer in eyeshadow, but not foils or metallics, or anything too glittery. Soft shimmers applied with a light touch work fine on me. And I no longer apply it all over my lid, now I’ll start with a mid tone satin or matte and then just add a little shimmer to the center of the lid. Not too much. I like a lot of the topper shades they have today in palettes, they are a touch more subtle.
