Arturia Keystep Pro Jam and a Few of Our Favorite Performance Features

- The Arturia Keystep Pro is powerful sequencer that could be the centerpiece of your hardware and/or software setup. It has drum and polyphonic sequencers built in as well as multiple arpeggiators. The Keystep Pro can connect to pretty much any device since it outputs USB midi, DIN midi and analog CV/Gate and Triggers. In this video we sequenced a hardware midi synth, some eurorack modules and a software synth running on an iPad.
There are so many cool features that it’s hard to choose one. The arpeggiator was our favorite feature. It is extremely useful for performance and creating new ideas and ways to play chords. You can add up to 16 notes to your arpeggio. You have the ability to create an arpeggio by playing the notes and then selecting the HOLD feature. From there you can make changes to the step and gate length of the notes. Additionally, you can change the octave range, change time divisions, as well as velocity and randomness to the notes all on the fly.

love that you're using the iPad in the setup as part of your performance. SWEET deal!
Enjoyed the patch info. Love the old videos but these are greatly appreciated.
Wicked track in this video! Super informative ..
Yes you convinced me to get the pro and not the 37! Awesome video 🙏
Super cool! On the fly changes look really easy and seamless. I like the iPad app too.
Lovely demo and good tune :)
Damn. This thing is a workhorse! This Keystep Pro is going to be everywhere. I love Arturia's dedication to providing CV & Gate i/o on everything.
Though, I still want a eurorack controller module from Arturia using the Microfreak touchplate keys. Maybe 3 or 4 cv/gates. Arp. Touchstrip. Music Easel-esque. That's my dream.
John Doe there's probably something similar out there.
There's a few options. Closest is the Sputnik touch keys module but it appears to have been discontinued. Pittsburgh has the kb-1 but that's just a single octave keyboard. Endorphin es has a new module that is REALLY close and similar to a Keystep but i'm pretty sure it's a sequencer only, which is odd. Verbos has a couple but Sputnik and Pittsburgh Modular have similar controllers that are better and cheaper.
I think someone like Arturia could offer a good Eurorack controller module for a good price that many would love.
Nice. I can't wait to get one of these. The CV connectivity alone is worth the price. Can't wait to not only sequence modular drums, but to play them with my Roland V-drums. That's is going to be awesome.
Mines on back order, been waiting for montttths
You had mentioned more on the iPad app - curious about that - would love to know more about that. Good video - couple of tips there that will help me with my Keystep Pro!
The synth app we used was Continua by Audio Damage
didn't know about the drum muting, thanks
Great demo. Love that you're making subtle techno/electronic that isn't destroying my face. :) Is any of the music you make available online?
Hey hey, have the desktop unit and am using the keystep pro to sequence but haven't been able to get full aftertouch response using the keystep pro. When I press the pads on the hydra there is more volume/complete sound emitting, when I press a key on KSP it isn't sending a strong enough signal to trigger the entire tone from the hydra. So far I've tried changing to exponential to logarithmic from linear, and only changes the timing as expected.
Cheers and thanks
Nice video! Would you able to sequence 4 external synths at the same time and also a separate drum machine? And would you be able to adjust for example reverb or any filters of the synths on the fly, while they are being sequenced? And would you be able to change a preset on synths and overdub, without affecting the sequence that already is in play from that synth?.. If not, what sequencer on earth would be able to do these things that has been asked above, thanks in advance!
I can't wait for mine it's been 2 months ughh
Does it have a button that creates Future Bass music?
Hey, was that you, last Saturday on Beatppl podcast, interviewing Michelle Moog?
Hello! Yes. :)
Hydrasynth and Keystep pro plus Model D, Neutron, Pro-1 Arturia Drumbrute impact.... is what I run and it's a killer setup
My key step isn’t transmitting aftertouch to hydra. Any possible solutions?
This Jam is Sooooo good release the track
Oh amazing. But I only have ipad pro and keystep pro.I download AUM app too.How to give full play to their best results? How to operate several loop modes
Nice to see that somebody got a Keystep Pro that’s not buggy. Arturia are being really slack with updates too. They promised a bug fix update in mid May & we’re still waiting. As it stands, I’m seriously considering a refund and I would urge anyone thinking of buying one to give it time for the numerous bugs to be ironed out. This product has incredible potential but was released way too early. Mine, for example, has shocking midi clock timing (I’ve tested it extensively using MidiOx), it never starts anything in sync even using the CV Clock out to my outboard. Great video though, peace ✌️
The same thing happened with the Beatstep Pro. If that is a guide, you should hang on to your Keystep Pro. Their updates got rid of the bugs and implemented a great deal of features requested by users.
That's definitely a bummer but yeah as the other guy said, they definitely do release firmware updates. And they do more than just fix bugs, some of their updates have added game-changing new features to the devices. On the other hand, by the time those updates are released, they may have also finally gotten around to manufacturing the black version that we all want...
Maybe I won’t be so hasty to send it back then... Like I said I can see the incredible potential of this, I just feel like I’ve been burned at the moment! Cheers for the comments, you’ve made me feel better about it, peace ✌️
1.2.7 is online dude, what the bug? ;)
no clue what you are talking about but the music is kvlt
Ooh I hope this means you guys got a restock recently! I placed my KSP preorder over 2 months ago, but clearly missed the first batch of units.
we should get more soon, this unit was a demo unit we were given to make a video though, not part of a batch
Nice jam, but I guess that's the Keystep Pro that I pre-ordered and still waiting for :(
This is our display model, we already got one batch and should be getting another batch to ship out soon
Yeah Guenter.....waiting for mine as well....3 months now!
It's the Corona messing w China
im an Akai dude for sequencing but starting to think Keystep pro may be a god.
I was gonna get an akai but I can save a couple hundred dollars and just get a KSP and sync all my hardware
This is great PC, but when the heck are they ?shipping. Its been 3 months already!
we just checked an got an ETA that they will be shipping in late July
What ipad app is that?
The iPad synth we used is Continua from Audio Damage, we also used AUM as a host for the synth.
Aye Trovarsi
does this mean they’ll be shipping soon?
We got one batch we shipped out and should start to get more batches soon.
Hey, instead of jamming out and making these videos, do you think you could reply to one of the 4 messages I sent you regarding support? I went through the help button on your site, I filled out a support form which I had to bump again when 48 hours passed with no notice. I even reached out on Twitter. It's been almost a full week. WHAT THE HELL.
The people who do their videos are not the same people that do support.
Hi Brandon, if you are having trouble getting ahold of our customer support can you call them at 877.909.0303 that is the fastest way to get in contact with them.
@@PerfectCircuit though I hate being on the phone (like many people my age) I called anyway and resolved it very quickly. There's an expectation that your support contact forms work. It looks like they work from my end and I even got an automated email thread to prove it. Please fix as soon as you can!
@@BrandonAaskov thanks for the feedback, we will look into the contact form issue you mentioned.
@@PerfectCircuit I too feel like I don't get responses to emails any more.
with only 4 tracks i'm curious as to how this can be a center piece of a studio set up
Just put it physically in the center 😎
@@rdean150 lol
Just hook all your hardware up?
@@brainbox9219 hook all your gear up for 4 tracks?
@@mpmi7588 if it doesn’t suit your needs, don’t get it, move on
Perfect Circuit - please feature more female artists!
Be real..
Arturia is dead to me until I can use everything on their website to update or edit on mobile . I don’t by laptops anymore or desktops just to use their ....shift command laden “stuff “ anymore and they never keep pace with apple updates either. Also “analog lab “ won’t run on iOS which is ridiculous and stupid. Great demo though. Peace Christo👽🎶🐕🛸☮️
terrible sound demo and I really listen to everything in synthworld.....hydra and ksp? sounds like keystep + some volca 🤣☠️ sorry not sorry 👎
What would you recommend to hook up with the keystep vs the hydra
@@jdssurf I got a KSP myself and the Hydra Key as well - so the Combo is nice but that sound demo was really weak in my Eyes. You dont need the Hydra for those Sounds.
More Hookups would be: Peak, Pro 1 and RD-8 - massive combo!!
I hate sales men and weman at that fact.. Seems like everybody is getting free gear for these videos.. I'm not seeing any normal people UA-cam videos on these devices it's always reps from the sale department explaining how cool shit is ..Couldnt even name the synth and I'm sure for good reason...
shut up
