The Dignity ship sailed when Sky Sports took over F1. Sky's build up programmes and "features" are unwatchable fillers between adverts and their presenters stink (Brundle is the only exception). I know they are aiming their programming at kids these days but it is barely a sport any more.
Hang on, Ted Kravitz, Naomi Schiff and Bernie Collins are good, too. But i agree about Sky’s over-production of shows and features. Side Note; Please keep Danica off the air. Keep all the others but for the love of the racing gods, no more Danica Patrick.
It was Bernie's rightful take on "dignity"...He kept Formula 1 exclusive, aloof, an elevated & private environment for those only he chose could enter, & put the on-track racing first & foremost... So yes, it did have dignity that is now seemingly disappearing year on year.
This was inevitable when liberty bought it. And I anticipate it to continue. They might try to find a balance between stylish and trashy. And in fairness, it happened in America before liberty owned it.
Frankly I don't like watching the races anymore (I certainly won't be going to one). It's just a festival with a bit of racing on the side these days. It's way too false and about the spectacle now. I only follow the results.
The dignity went out the window long ago lol I haven;t watched an F1 race live in years. Couldn't care less any more. Too many gimmicks, not enough hard racing. I mean F1 still has a problem of slow drivers in front no longer willing to defend position and overtaking being as easy as the push of a button and that problem has existed for about 10 years now. Every era of F1 prior to the current one saw better racing.
yes it has been a money grab for a while but it wasn't ridiculous like it is now. The spectacles, the celebrity contest, netflix, everything is tailored for american viewers but it is just embarrassing for people outside of the US
@@olliecl979 yeah i agree. but i think its tailored to the newer generation, more specifically gen z in terms of content being pushed out. engage the younger audience today to secure future financial gains; while the spectacle is obviously a money grab, what better country to do it in than the USA. *eagle noise*
I totally agree. Formula 1 Does Not Need all the razz-a-matazz that other motor sports resort to. I'm a big fan of the KISS principle - 'Keep It Simple, Stupid'. I've not been happy with the way things have gone, since Virgin Media took over F1 from Bernie. Agreed, Bernie's way of running the sport wasn't perfect and the whole system was biased towards Ferrari, but we had a set number of races per year and that was more than enough. This year we have 24 races, which is far too many. There are a number of races I would like to see dropped from the calendar; in particular, the 'Convoy' races on Street Circuits, which are too narrow to allow safe overtaking and where Racing - in the true meaning of the word - is not possible. As much as I hate to say it, that includes Monaco and in particular, Singapore. Baku is another one. And now that Sochi is off the table, I'd like to see it scrapped permanently. And as for getting rid of Spa... if Virgin do that, F1 is going to lose a lot of viewers; as they will if the British GP is dropped. Russ. UK
Some of F1 dignity will come back once Lance Stroll is gone. So I say let's start with that, please? But also, yes, he's absolutely right. The "show" in Miami and Vegas is absolutely ridiculous and over the top cringe. Stop it.
Right. When he started in on F1 not being IndyCar and NASCAR when there are drivers in both those series that would beat Stroll and a couple of other drivers of F1 given the same car and some time to learn the car is absurd.
As a very long time fan I am disappointed in most of the changes in F1. I really dislike the sprint races and the glitter that has come with the Liberty Media organization. Three races in America says a great deal and for me that is not a bonus. This really has turned into a situation where money has become the "only" driver of what happens next and we have lost some of the "purity" of the race. But I am only one person; and there is no stopping change..
He was a man of his time & had what it took...Take a look at all the other great (& not so great...) Formula 1 teams that ceased racing during the time of Jordan Grand Prix....
Dignity has left F1 when they gifted Verstappen a championship. Miami is the plastic Grand Prix. Vegas racing comes second to showbiz. At least Austin puts on a good race.

F1 sold itself along with other sports a long long time ago.
That might be true...but they still don't have to turn it into a clown show. What they did last year was ridiculous.
Uh? The dignity of the sport ? You must be joking. The dignity left F1 long ago.

@@_Ben4810 As I recall, it was under his remit that all the boring circuits proliferated.
@@_Ben4810 True. It does seem to have declined in that regard, and gone very show-biz in some ways.
As an American I definitely feel Liberty has turned F1 into a circus! Miami an Las Vegas are a joke.
I mean yes F1 is like football now (soccer)
Worse than Miami for the dignity of the sport. It's racing in Saudi Arabia or Turkey. Just shameful
This was inevitable when liberty bought it. And I anticipate it to continue. They might try to find a balance between stylish and trashy. And in fairness, it happened in America before liberty owned it.
Yeah ….integrity 😂how’s that Saudi / Chinese/ Azerbaijani/ UAE /Russian money going for you …. F1 is only about money

There's so many better locations for it in America.
Like where ?
F1 is becoming trashy.

As a fan since the ‘80’s these stories are priceless. Please, more Driver interviews and behind the shenanigans!
dignity of the sport wtf? it's a money grab these days. stopped being a sport long time ago. actor quite playing with your mouth.

Do you not remember grid girls? Ha ha
With dignity comes revenue loss. Can't have that.
"dignity" isn't really something I would attribute to F1 anymore
I miss Bernie, he wasnt big on social media for a reason.

At the end of the day it is a business
The US has some amazing circuits like the Glenn and Road America yet they go for the pretty girl in Miami. Racing in a parking lot is the new F1
anyone else think he was Phil Collins going by the picture lol
Eddie Jordan talking "Dignity" is ironic if you look how he ran his team
He was a man of his time & had what it took...Take a look at all the other great (& not so great...) Formula 1 teams that ceased racing during the time of Jordan Grand Prix....
You only have to look at all the celebrities on the grid before a race to see that F1 has sold out its core support base that enjoys motor racing.
I hate street circuits
That went out with Grill The Grid.
Dignity has left F1 when they gifted Verstappen a championship. Miami is the plastic Grand Prix. Vegas racing comes second to showbiz. At least Austin puts on a good race.
Nope, it was Balestre that did it, looong before AD21.
This is getting manipulated man 🤣🤣🤣
America is the best at making boring sports entertaining so maybe they can help a bit with F1
Depends on your definition of entertaining
