    Love that DIY brush roll! The color assortment is very succinct and efficient with a broad range of mixing solutions. Any advice for artists using an easel like this outdoors when it's windy?

      Thanks, I’m glad you like it! 🥰 Windy days pose a bit of a challenge. I think working small helps, but if the wind is really strong then I usually need to hold my pochade box down with one hand while I paint with the other!

      If you use a camera stand with a hook underneath that takes a weight, you can hang your bag from it.

    When I use acrylics or gouache, or any water based medium, I like to bring on old Nalgene, or similar wide mouth water bottle or airtight container to dump my paint water so I can dispose of it at home depending on where I am. Not sure how bad the paint water is for the earth, but I've always felt weird about just dumping it on the gournd.

      That is great to hear! I use the metal jar for the same purpose. As painters it is important for us to dispose of our waste responsibly :)

    Excellent video and set up. I also like to include a pair or two of nitrile gloves to keep my hands clean. Since I often have strangers approach me while I plein air paint, I always have business cards ready. My set up includes a painting knife, as well as a painter's umbrella to keep my painting and palette in the shade. I carry pretty much all of it in a backpack.

    Love this! I have the larger u-go but I feel like it’s too big sometimes. I like the size of yours and the smaller tripod.

      @christinakentart  Рік тому

      Thanks! Yeah I like this size. When I paint plein air, I usually am working in about a 6x6 size, although I've gone up to 8x10 with this setup and it worked well :)

    Thanks for the video. How do you clean your rags after they've dried? They're ok to use again as is? Or do you wash them? They dont catch on fire? Thanks.

    • @christinakentart
      @christinakentart  5 місяців тому

      That's a good question, and honestly I don't have a great solution... I don't wash them, and gradually they get more paint on them until I can't use them anymore. And you raise a good point about catching fire - I have heard the same thing. Really it is best to store rags like these in a glass or metal jar, for that reason! Or if someone else reading this has a better idea, please chime in! :)

      @@christinakentart the trick is to keep oxygen out. Fire needs oxygen. You could have a small bottle of water to keep them moist until you get home. That would also keep them from combusting. I'm no scientist, just relaying ideas I've heard of in the past;). Thanks for your video!

    Thank you! Very informative and inspiring. What size panel do you like to use when plein air painting? I think I read that the u.go medium can hold up to 10" vertical, but it looks like your videos show maybe 5" x 7"? Just curious if you prefer smaller sizes for outdoor painting on the go?

    • @christinakentart
      @christinakentart  Рік тому +1

      Good question! Lately I’ve been painting small for plein air, so around 5x7in or 6x6in. I’ve used an 8x10in panel for this setup as well and it worked. Haven’t tried large, but I think you are right that 10in vertical is the max.

    • @christinakentart
      @christinakentart  Рік тому

      Thanks Doug! I chose that size because I wanted something small enough to fit in my backpack, but that also had a decent-sized palette and could support small to medium panels. What about you, do you have a preferred pochade box/plein air setup?
      And that's a good suggestion! I'll try to include the set-up in my next plein air video :)
