Yes, my roses have gone into retirement until springtime. Despite 2 hard frosts, The Poet's Wife has a half dozen blooms, she is a strong performer, also, my 1890s Chlotilde Soupert has one shell pink bloom, both joyfully fragrant. Yes we brought our Bulldog home 11 years ago as a puppy, I ceased my long, fast, climbing racing bicycle rides to give him 3 walks every day as far as he feels like going through fields, forests and country roads. So your Seanie and our Bullie have the same age, our Bullie, the past few years has discomfort walking on hard roads, but does as well as ever on soft field and forest surfaces. I hope that a remedy can be found for your Seanie, and I hope that the pain is not extreme. The frequent way of knowing that they are in pain is if they become snappish and ill tempered. Good to hear from you Jay, with roses in retirement, our paths don't cross as often. I wish that the news were better, sad, but if every living thing lived forever, then the world would be so unimaginably overpopulated that there would not be sufficient resources for us all, so we stay a short time, we learn and hopefully we are a blessing to the world around us and not a blight. For 30 years I avoid television and radio and listen to talk radio and independent news and analysis, and more often then not the caller states his/her name and which state in the union, which is especially useful for gardening, that way the results that we are reporting can be interpreted in light of the climate that we have. The veterinary obviously has experience to know how these situations progress, but there are various types of cancer, particularly prostste cancer with which the person presenting with the condition can live many years with it before it becomes unbearably miserable and life threatening. ❤❤❤

We lost 3 oldies within 18 months and it broke me but I can't live without them so now we have another 4 that we will treasure until their time comes ❤

Oh Jay Jay😢😢😢 I am so sorry…sadly it’s one of the main causes of Death in Greys… I help a Rescue Organisation that specialises in rescue Greyhounds from Ireland here in Germany, in recent years many of the Pups died on Bone Cancer and they didn’t even get 10 Years of Age…I have a Rescue Grey myself and I don’t want any other Breed anymore, they are so lovely 🥰 ❤ I am always afraid he will get the same, he turned 6 this year..Greys will suffer silently, mostly don’t show signs and bone cancer is extremely painful, they are pretty tough Dogs. I don’t envy you saying Good Bye to your best Friend, I wish you strength ❤ Best wishes Dagmar

We’ve had 4 over the years and this is the first time we’ve seen bone cancer. I wanted to film him now whilst he was still fit and healthy because as you know things can change quickly. @@Jay_Jay I am just helping and it’s just a small community , helping around 80 Dogs a Year, like we say just a Drop of Water on a hot Stone…evaporated considering the round 40.000 Greys bred in Ireland per year and mostly discarded in a young age or send abroad ….your Boy was a lucky one …you found him..❤️
Oh Jay, I am so very sorry for you, your wife, & of course the lovely Seanie. Yes, bone cancer can be amazingly quick & is definitely a racing greyhound thing, as there is no breeding control for it. I was lucky that my racer lived to be 13, did not get it, died almost a year ago of unknown cause. I've had many dogs pass away, but this one really got to me so much, maybe b/c I am older & closer to my time or b/c those slender greys wriggle into your heart so easily & deeply. A word of caution fr/ an experience of a friend w/ a retired racer who had bone cancer---the bones become extremely fragile & when using pain meds, the dog will of course feel much better & want to be jumping around like normal. Limit the activity, esp. once he starts to limp, as a wayward jump can snap the leg bone and that is the end. I hope that you will have plenty of time w/ Seanie to say good-bye & lead him into his Next Thing. I am firmly convinced that all animals go to heaven automatically but that humans must be invited in by special request. When Seanie's time comes & he takes a break from racing across the clouds, he will surely request that the 2 people who taught him to be happy on earth be permitted to join him! I will hope to see him in the spring, but if not, tell him to look up my dog Bailey, she'll show him the best places to run! Hugs to humans & dog!

All we can do is continue to do what we have always done and that is give him the best life. He was in lovely rescue kennels prior to us getting him, but he was there for 7 years waiting for his forever home and that started to take its toll. That’s why we took him.
