Brilliant video, exact thing has happened to mine, tried straightening rear bracket to no avail. New brackets ordered, press replay and fit when they arrive. Just have to watch the saw doesn’t try to jump of the bench anymore!
I was quoted $90 Canadian just to look at my saw, with any fixing labour and parts extra. I'll try spending $10 on that part, plus a bit of fiddling time. Thanks for making the video!
I have that exact saw. I can confirm there is no side to it where it lies flat. It just wants to topple from any position. Other than that it's fantastic.
When I was buying a new circular saw, I was looking at that saw and the DHS660 model, but the side of the blade and the fact that the 18V battery on 660 is hidden inside the body and not outside like in 680, made me buy the more compact girl. Both of them are good small saws, just the 680 got more arse.
*Congratulations* on reaching the *100,000* Subscribers. 🥳🥳🥳 Very well deserved!! 👍👍 Hope your finger recovers quickly. I / we felt that. Ask me / us how we viewers know. 🤦♂️
You may have just saved me buying a new saw, I've got the newer model of this with the magnesium base and mine is bent so that 0 is not 0 on the bevel, its about half way between 0 and 5 degrees. Im hoping it's the same part bent from a drop. Guard is also cracked and that looks easy enough to replace too 😂
I had the previous brushed version. Abused it for 3-4 years. Still works perfect. Got this model and the depth slide bent within a month and it was cutting crooked. Easy to replace but its not built as good as the old version.
Well done on 100k subs … this video also showed me how to adjust my depth lever mine is too low when tightened up and is below the base (from the factory!) cheers dean congrats again on 100k well deserved !!
Gday Dean congrats on the 100k mate. Did the profanities fly after the video on that pinched finger 😂😂😂 Those pliers would have ended up the wall if that was me mate. 😂 Thanks for another great vid.
Great video Dean, can I ask? is it possible to to straighten the bent bracket because you are really desperate to get the job done and can't wait for a replacement part? If so is it possible for you to show a video doing this please. thx m8.
Hi Dean. What brand of circlip pliers do you use? I keep finding crappy ones and I just want to spend a decent amount and get one that don't arrive with tipps that aren't parallel or good that bend the first time you move a tight circlip. Thanks.

Hats off to anyone who sits down and then designs and builds a circular saw!
This is a good base mechanism overview repair of basically every battery operated circular saws from Makita, at least the smaller ones. Thanks again!

Clamping your finger in pliers is the worst. Much needed edit following that lol
That would deserve a few good swear words 😂
To be sure to be sure. 🤦♂️
Sorry Dean. 😔
Another excellent video and explanation. Now I know what’s wrong with my DeWalt saw! Cheers Dean

is it possible the saw blade its self could be bent
no, if the blade was bent it would simply have a wobble
Ден, какова примерная статистика сгоревших контроллеров на этом инструменте? По какой причине они сгорают?
They normaly burn out from being put under to much load. If they are stalled or or the motor is slowing down, they are being worked to hard
@@deandohertygreaserбольшое спасибо, привет вам из России 😅 я ваш фанат.
