@@429freedome oh I do... Luke has helped me solve hundreds of airsoft problems when I'm doing custom builds for customers. But you are correct. I hope everyone is having a great day!
This was my first airsoft gun I bought as an adult, I intentionally wanted a bolt action springer because I didn't want to worry about CO2, air tanks, or batteries, but I recently decided to take it apart because it wasn't firing and so many parts are damaged inside. It surprises me how much metal they used except for where they cheaped out on the inside.
I own one of these rifles. I can say that for the short while it was a decent gun! I had a lot of fun with it at my small outdoor field. Then the safety malfunctioned and wouldn't turn on anymore. Then the bolt wouldn't catch anymore. So I bought an upgrade kit and went about repairing it and changing things out. Instantly regretted it. Had to watch a Taiwanese airsofter take it apart and put it back together, even then it wouldn't work. Waste of money now.
I have this same gun also and my safety is broke/stuck so that the safety doesn't work and also the cocking of the bolt often releases the full magazine into the barrel. I was going to get it repaired and upgraded but after this I'm on the fence.
Out of the box it's absolute shit, but I have one with the full TNT upgrade package including the barrel and hop-unit, and the SWIT airsoft wood kit. It's now a very decent gun that also feels very solid. Sure, it's not a VSR-10, but it's accurate enough to where I felt confident putting a Zf39 scope replica on it. It's now my main sniper rifle for WW2 games, and it lifts .45's without issue. I can honestly say that with fully upgraded internals (and not partly like in this video), it outperforms any other K98 on the market. edit: reading other people's comments, I see a lot of people have issues with these guns. This is really odd to me. I play in a group of 40+ players who exclusively play WW2 games, and we have 8 of these upgraded rifles. None of them show any issues. Then again, it's usually the people who have issues that vent their frustration on the internet.
how does the fully upgraded version from SWIT airsoft compare to other snipers on the market? What is it that's missing from it? Thank you for your input
@@markus.ww2 It's a decent shooting gun when fully upgraded, but it slightly suffers from the fact that there aren't as many upgrade parts available for it. Other platforms have lots of manufacturers that make parts for them, which allows you to tune them perfectly. The K98 realistically only has TNT making parts for it. This makes the gun less attractive for those who wish to fully customize their gun, but the TNT parts do tighten up the tolerances significantly, which out-of-the-box were rather loose. I wouldn't field an unmodified one because of these loose tolerances, as the airseal isn't that great, and the plastic stock feels cheap. The fully TNT upgraded version has parts that all match up perfectly, which allows for very consistent shots. It's not second-mortgage-level-upgraded VSR-10 consistent, but it can definitely hold its own, there's a reason I was confident enough to buy a 360 dollar replica RSM ZF39 scope for it. ( Mounting this scope was one of the hardest airsoft projects I undertook, and I built a freaking Gewehr 43 from scratch, so definitely not a beginners' project.) I think part of what makes it less appealing for regular players is that people can't put rails, standard scopes, lasers, bipods, and shit-coloured paint on them, which is what the cool kids want these days, and this gun doesn't allow them to be different. I wouldn't recommend buying only half of the upgrade parts because you would still use some of the standard parts with loose tolerances. People who complain about bad performance after "upgrading" this rifle are usually the people who cheaped out and only bought the cheaper kit, and then blame it on the gun itself. The only issue I had was that I ordered mine with the 500FPS spring, and it came in shooting 520FPS, which is above the fieldable limit in my country. I had to grind down a few coils on the spring to sort that out. Something to also keep in mind, it only likes .40g BB's and up ( I currently use .45). Some of the players in my WW2 airsoft group claim theirs will overhop anything below .43, even with the hop fully off. The national airsoft regulatory organisation in my country decided to ban anything over .40 though, so if I didn't have my private airsoft group to play with I wouldn't even be able to field it here.
@@DannyMNL Thank you for your thorough answer. I bought the rifle in question a few days ago and I came across this video. By the way, are you a reenactor? Because I am and that's why I bought this replica (blank firing replicas and real firearms are ilegall in my country, Argentina) and also because it would be nice to use it for airsoft games too.
@@markus.ww2 I sometimes join re-enactment events but first and foremost I am an airsofter. The rifle can be used for re-enactment (especially with the amazing SWIT wood stock), but the bolt does give away that it isn't an original. I would suggest coating the entire wood stock AND the metal externals (but none of the moving parts) with boiled linseed oil and letting that dry/harden thoroughly. This will protect the wood and give a nice realistic sheen to the metal parts. It does add a tiny layer to the metal though, so absolutely make sure it doesn't contact the bolt, as this will stop it from moving smoothly. Speaking if which, the black coating that was applied on the cylinder scratches very easily, and I completely removed it on mine just by scratching it off with a plastic ruler. The bolt now runs much smoother. If you're interested, there are some pictures on my instagram of my K98, and some other projects: dannymnl.
@@DannyMNL thank you once again for such feedback! You went above and beyond! I was wondering what to put on the wood too, I guess only linseed oil will be enough. I'll be sure to follow you on Instagram! Here's mine: @markus.ww2
I bought this rifle in 2020 and put upgrade kit into it the same year. It was not TNT, one of the domestic airsoft shops in my country, Czechia, had made their own upgrade kit. It's even cheaper than TNT, it costs equivalent to about 50 USD, however the quality is questionable as I had a problem with tolerances on the piston which I had to file down in order to not get it stuck in one position (and another guy I know who bought it had problem with tolerances on the angle sear or spring guide stopper, I can't remember, basically the trigger wouldn't let go of the spring for him, he solved it the same way, he just filed it down a bit). That being said, it gives me more or less the same performance as the more expensive TNT. After that, the bolt was a bit sticky, but manageable and it shot pretty well (it didn't have the greatest range, but it was still more than range of AEGs I encountered on the field, and it was extremelly accurrate, like... I once was able to shoot someone's boot sole of which only 1cm was out of cover and I shot it at about 15 meters). That being said, I replaced hop up rubber recently and it improved the range dramatically, but unfortunately the rubber twisted inside so now it hops sideways and I will have to readjust it. In fact I watched this video only because I was searching for the disassembly video (just to make sure I won't fuck up anything, I did disassemble it before, but it's better to be safe than sorry). At any rate, I'm no airsoft reviewer, but I would say this for a review. It's a decent gun for the money, and it's usable if you use the upgrade kit which is also relatively affordable. For WWII airsofters of Heer and SS it's a go-to weapon, because it's a K98 that's relatively cheap, available in large numbers (PPS K98 was always available in like one shop, they restocked it to 5 pieces, those were sold out in about two weeks and then it took about a year to restock the same amount, the rest of K98s were either unpractical or too expensive), doesn't require as much maintenance, is cheaper to operate (no gas needed) and works better in winter than gas rifles. The only flaws in the design I encountered are that magazine acts like stuck if the last round bolt open kicks in. because of that you need to use a bit of force to pull out the magazine and it really feels like you're gonna break something (don't worry, you probably won't). Oh also, it can can lead to unsecuring the spring of mag release. This isn't a fatal flaw which would break something, but it means that operating the gun afterwards is a bit tricky (you have to be aware of loose mag release) or it requires you to disassemble it and put it in place which is not ideal in the field. And the second flaw is that there is a lot of friction between the outer body of bolt and the receiver. This is what makes the bolt sticky (surprisingly it wasn't the uneven filed down piston which I was worried about), but if you use enough lubricant or if you use it enough times, it will get better. Basically: if you're doing Heer or SS rifleman loadout, this is probably the best choice for you unless you have pockets full of money. For any other airsofter, unless you really really want K98 and use it in field, buy something else.
Airsoft Pro is a god send when it comes to making parts for some guns that other people don't make. I have the Galaxy M82 and they're my go to when it comes to any springer SVD parts I need.
Can u make a video about gbbrs and what to Upgrade on them? Especially on WE guns, u seemed to like them in your know your airsoft Brand Video. Much love
With WE a better barrel and hop usually is all you need. The good thing about WE guns is that when eventually your hammer or other triggerbox parts wear out (usually it's hammer or the sear) you can just buy them for cheap because they're available pretty much anywhere where they sell the GBBRs (or you can email WE for replacements). DON'T BUY RATECH PARTS, their QC is shit.
Upgrading a Well MB10 thinking its VSR-10 compatible was a massive pain, had to change pretty much everything inside and file down the hop up chamber etc...
It is technically vsr10 compatible, but the Well VSR10s MB02/3/10 etc. all have very minor changes that mean that you have to modify parts. For example, the cylinder diameter is slightly smaller which means that you have to change it or buy airsoftpro parts. The cylinder is trash anyway so you might as well. As with all the clones, you also have to shim the trigger box if you replace the sears. Well l96s are decent. Their VSR10 clones not so much, just because they can be a pain in the a**e. The best VSR10 clone is the AA T11. It's better than the TM VSR10 itself to be honest, what with the 90 degree trigger, tightbore barrel and strong cylinder out of the box. I also heard that the latest generation have aluminium pistons and spring guides. The TM VSR10 is now difficult to upgrade, mainly because you have to replace everything if you want it to last on a spring over 1 joule. Some other criticisms: The Cylinder is Weak Coated Brass. The Cylinder head is pinned on so you have to drill that out if you want to remove it. The Stock is weak compared to the stocks on vsr10 clones (cyma 701/aat10/11).
@@Rorschachs_Bloat I’d agree, also the newer specna arms series snipers have comparatively cheap 90 degree trigger parts, I just had owned the mb10 for so long I wanted to upgrade it when I got back into the sport which led to problems with the compatibility.
@@smileydog5941 I think so. I'm pretty sure Negative Airsoft put t10 parts in a vsr body so I don't see why t11 parts wouldn't fit. The t10 and t11 are the same rifles in a slightly different stock.
God bless you mate for uploading this. I just got into airsofting and basically I love to build and use costumized stuff. I'm the type of guy that puts on some music and actually enjoys building something for 6 hours and for me it is relaxing. And I love ww2 rifles like the 98k or the mossin nagant m14 ..ect. in my country there is a full wood full metal version of this alivable. I was about to buy it and put a 525fps vsr10 spring in there with upgraded piston and spring guide. Now here where I was about to buy it there is actually a brand that makes a stainless steel trigger assembly but for like half the price of the gun and they only sell the whole unit. So thanks again if I havent seen this video I would have bought it for tunning porpouses and probably would have blown up.
TNT... I have a TNT barrel in my VSR10 and I think it might be ruining its performance. They basically tried to jump on the Tanio-Koba twist barrels train but made the rifling straight. Ignoring the fact that twist rifling basically ruins the hopup effect, what TNT did with their barrels is equally bad. They market them as 'tightbore' 6.03s or whatever, but they really aren't. You get so much air leaking past your BB in the grooves. Don't buy TNT barrels kids.
I can only imagine "Timmy" screetching at his Monitor: "reeeeee! He insulted my favourite Airsoft youtube channel! Mom, can you write a angry letter for meeeee?!?!?!?" :D another great video, thx for that man!
That kit actually came with a proper trigger shear. The customer probably lost it. TNT also make a hop + barrel upgrade kit, though tbh I think the barrel is worse than the original one. As for reviewers saying its VSR compatible, maybe they 're mistaking it with the new S&T Kar98 that according to S&T is, though in actuallity that is not either. As for the take down, TNT have published a take down guide on their youtube channel, and as a novice that litteraly used to only own this very gun, taking down and putting back together again was not hard, especially by the 5th time I did it. Hell I even did it during a game day once, in the field on a piece of Zelt. Just my 2 cents.
hiya Negative airsoft, I know you mentioned the flamingo rubber, by chance have you worked with the Maple leaf MR silicone and MR silicone hotshots on gbbrs? I say this as I have had actually quite a great experience using those in my gbbr builds, and I pretty much exclusively gbbr.
I picked up one of the swit upgraded k98s they do. With the tnt vsr hop unit it's a world of difference add the steel sear and its performance is quite nice. A vsr or my hpa striker still out performs it but it's consistent enough to do 250ft 10/10 on a human and can lob 280 290 with about 5/10 on a human. The hardest part about these is getting a good scope. The 1.5x scope g&g makes is aweful and it's very hard to use sense its such a small sight picture.
I'm gonna give you a bit of a hot take, but I feel like it's required: you don't need scope at ranges usual for airsoft.Granted, it allows you to see the BB better so it does have a prupouse if it's windy or if you're adjusting your sights for precision at ranges over I'd say 40 meters, but other than that, people should have no problem with using iron sights even at 200 meters, let alone 50 or so meters in airsoft.
I love the honesty. So many people think stuff is good because someone else said it is. Or because it has a logo on it so they look all tacticool. You show if it is dog shit or not without caring a toss what is stamped on the outside.
Hey Luke, have you ever worked on/had experience with the Specna Arms SA-S02/03 (so the Specna Arms M40). I've heard it's TM compatible, not TM compatible and partially TM compatible. I haven't been able to find a lot of information which truly confirms how TM compatible it is and was wondering if you maybe know the answer.
Tbh... Half the time I didn't even know what you talking about, but that's just because I am not actually into airsoft, I just a k98 for collection. But it is a very detailed video :)

Havent take my on the field yet after i upgraded it. But i got som nice part from airsoftpro. They also had their own uograde kit. Like a new hop unit with aeg barrel. But can agree its not easy to disassembly. SW scope for the gun is a joke. It tries to be a Z41. But they used a garbage cheap scope that have so short eye relief. And the Z41 is a scout scope with a loong eye relief.
I'm curious as to why you dislike the ares striker so much, I've owned a couple and had no issues another than the cylinder, but that's an incredibly easy fix and pretty cheep fix.
Aeg spring means a shorter but tougher trigger pull, the parts grind & the overall longevity is a joke. Retailers were "nah, it's perfect", then the gen 2 came out fixing the problems with the gen 1 that never existed so retailers were all "buy a gen 2, much better & flawless" and then of course the gen 3 came out that fixed the issues with the gen 1 & the gen 2, neither of which existed & so now its the best thing ever until the gen 4 comes out that will fix the issues that the gen 1, 2 & 3 never fucking had. Fuck the striker.
@@NegativeAirsoftTech yeah I see what you're saying 😂. It's the rifle I started with so I've never really noticed the tough bolt pull. Main reason I chose it was that I didn't want a Vsr since every man and his dog seems to have one.
My only complaint with this rifle is the safety on it, 2 games and now it can no longer go into safe... as in won't even move, tried fixing it but no luck
Snowwolf are the ones telling them there vsr 10 compatible I got sent a review unit from them and that's stated in the talking points packet provided by the manufacturer I found it's only comparable with there vsr 10 not others
It's only compatible with AA and TNT parts AA doesn't even have a hopup unit. So if you want a full upgrade it's TNT parts only: Hopup unit, barrel, piston.
I bought a pre upgraded snow wolf 98k for about 400$. After i had it for a while i sold it for 450$ and bought a real 98k for 200$ and used the remaining 250$ to buy ammo.

I'm from germany and here is the problem, that there is a SW Kar98K and a S&T Kar98K. Yes, there are the same guns... but no. Everybody here on YT is saying, that S&T and SW is the same company, so the guns have to be the same. But the S&T Kar98K is a new gun, which is TM compatible. the SW one is not (it's the one in your video). It's so hard to find any infos, because everybody thinks "oh, it's an Snow Wolf, so it has to be TM compatible."
A quick overview of this rif after spending about a month trying to get it sorted. There is two version. The old one with a scope mount under the iron sights will take tnt parts. The new version with reciever scope mount will Not take tnt parts as far as I'm a aware. If you plan to upgrade the old version. The piston and trigger is easy. However the hop up is a pain. Mine kept shooting to the right constantly. It's an issue with the hop up arm and the outer needing to be positioned perfectly whilst you screw the two Allen keys together. If you plan to upgrade this be prepared to have to take a good deal of time to get it all working. When it does work, it's decent little rifle however. It feels great in hands and once weathered honestly looks very nice. Even though it's stressing me out to get it working. I'm still glad I got it.
no wonder I had a customer asked me if I would work on one of his recently. He said it wouldnt shoot for crap. this would require some custom barrel work to get it to work right. maybe some lead tape around the piston ir a custom machined heavy weight piston. dont think it would be worth the money. The only Kar98, if I were so inclined, I would own would be the gas (c02) powered. Hey hey now.,..my striker is a beast..of course lots of custom parts...

@@DannyMNL thank you once again for such feedback! You went above and beyond! I was wondering what to put on the wood too, I guess only linseed oil will be enough.

Removing an empty magazine is so difficult!
Much love
That would be indeed very interesting
Some other criticisms:
The Cylinder is Weak Coated Brass.
@@Rorschachs_Bloat
Do you know of you can put the AA T11 parts into a vsr10 body?

I will always appreciate your honest commentary. Great work as usual mate. 🤘
So what is the best replica of Kar98? As realistic as possible for wallhanger and some backyard shooting?

Well this is my favorite airsoft channel. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Luke have you any experience on the S&T SVD?
Is that Kittie I'm hearing in the background?
@negativeairsoft luke I've a well mb03 would the flamingo hop rubber be the best one to use please

New video! Time to grab some snack and enjoy the show...
