This is near the Island of Mull where My Great Great Grandfather John Patterson was born and married and Lived before immigrating to America 🇺🇸 so happy i came across this video!I so wish I could afford to travel to Mull !I am sure my Grandfather had visited Skye also long long ago ! Hi Susan, good to hear from you. Yes, when I was a child we used to take the ferry from Malaige across. The bridge is a lot easier! A return visit, great idea. Let us know how you get on, have a think about Lewis Uist an Harris too, they are a further 2 hour ferry ride away and really worth the extra journey. Thanks 🙏 👍🏴
Wow..., this video brought memories back. It must have been 1995 ish, my friend and I spent our holidays in Scotland. We went by car and put our tent up and down every third day or so, while it was pouring down 😂 The Scottish told us that the weather had been wonderful two weeks earlier. 🤪 BUT... we spent just one day in Portree and guess what..., it was the only sunny day (and I mean the WHOLE day long) we had during our 3 week trip through Scotland. 😂 But we had a great time anyway and I loved to watch the different greens and blues depending by that changing weather there. The UK is defenitely my favourite country to travel. So, thank you for bringing back these wonderful memories 💗

@@TheNewbys Can't wait to see your Hebrides trip - I cycled up through the outer Hebrides starting in Tiree a few years ago in brilliant May sunshine - a truly stunning place. Look forward to seeing your van stops though as will give a different perspective altogether.The WHW was awesome but challenging weather and feet - did not take away from the special time with my dog and meeting such great people along the way. Sections of the Loch Lomond paths, the end of day 4 and day 5 from Bridge of Orchy probably my favourite sections :)

Thanks for the videos! I love watching them, while on maternity leave for my 3rd son. With our 2nd son, we flew to South Africa when he was 8 weeks old. Nice time to be travelling! So recognizable that some days just don't go as your planned :-) I love how you always adapt. That's the most important skill in the life of a parent. The carpark you pay for every penny goes back in to the upkeep of the fairy pools, for example the toilets plans are in motion for bridges over the river instead of stepping stones

first night in our van with my little, under 1, i couldn't sleep for worry about him being cold. i kept getting up to feel him. warm all night long. i don't know the temp though and we had a little heater.

You should definitely head over for the hike around the Old Man of Storr, beautiful over there but it can get quite busy. Portree is beautiful for some coffee, we had a great meal at the Antlers pub and a delicious spiced hot chocolate at a little cafe overlooking the row of colourful houses called Ariba Cafe. Coral Beach is gorgeous and Dunvegan Castle should be open for you and looked worth a visit! And then drive down the north east coast, it’s beautiful up there. Have fun and please let us know how you get on!
Imagine, sun screen in Scotland? We do actually get a lot of sun, even at ridiculous times of night (sometimes early am in the morning in some parts) in the summer. Why would we not need sun screen, especially as we are obviously all fair or ginger? If the sun shines, you need protection. Worst sun burn I ever got was skiing in the Cairngorms one February. Face like a well skelpt erse, with a white goggle shape, when the goggles came off. To be fair, everyone that came off the mountain that day, looked the same :)

We're just using our iPhone 12 Pro Max cameras at the moment, they're doing a great job and means we don't have to carry heaps of kit as well as the nappy bag! 😂 We will upgrade in time, but for now, they're brilliant. You tight gits! Paying for parking your car/s at the fairy pools helps to create paths and bridges which are going to be built come 2022, the money they raise from the car/s parking is used to stop the corroding from all the visitors who have been parking where they should not be parking! I am Scottish and I never gave the cost a second thought! I am a carer for my wife and she struggled to get three quarters of the way at the pools, next year we hope to reach the top! So please give thought if wanting not to pay five pounds for parking - you pay more that that for an hour parking down in London - so please help these guy's preserve the fairy pools for the next generation to enjoy! I am sure most visitors will be in awe in their visit to the pools! TIP - park on the lowest part of the parking area - saves you walking back to the top tear of the parking area after such a long walk there and back! Enjoy - I am sure you all will!

Gorgeous scenery once again. I’m really enjoying travelling vicariously through your travels. Little Crusoe looked like he was laughing in his sleep early on. Must have been John’s joke about being in Jamaica at the start; Crusoe learning to laugh at dad’s one-liners.

The carpark you pay for every penny goes back in to the upkeep of the fairy pools, for example the toilets plans are in motion for bridges over the river instead of stepping stones

first night in our van with my little, under 1, i couldn't sleep for worry about him being cold. i kept getting up to feel him. warm all night long. i don't know the temp though and we had a little heater.

You should definitely head over for the hike around the Old Man of Storr, beautiful over there but it can get quite busy. Portree is beautiful for some coffee, we had a great meal at the Antlers pub and a delicious spiced hot chocolate at a little cafe overlooking the row of colourful houses called Ariba Cafe. Coral Beach is gorgeous and Dunvegan Castle should be open for you and looked worth a visit! And then drive down the north east coast, it’s beautiful up there. Have fun and please let us know how you get on!

Imagine, sun screen in Scotland? We do actually get a lot of sun, even at ridiculous times of night (sometimes early am in the morning in some parts) in the summer. Why would we not need sun screen, especially as we are obviously all fair or ginger? If the sun shines, you need protection. Worst sun burn I ever got was skiing in the Cairngorms one February. Face like a well skelpt erse, with a white goggle shape, when the goggles came off. To be fair, everyone that came off the mountain that day, looked the same :)

We're just using our iPhone 12 Pro Max cameras at the moment, they're doing a great job and means we don't have to carry heaps of kit as well as the nappy bag! 😂 We will upgrade in time, but for now, they're brilliant. Do you have any tips if we did upgrade?

You tight gits! Paying for parking your car/s at the fairy pools helps to create paths and bridges which are going to be built come 2022, the money they raise from the car/s parking is used to stop the corroding from all the visitors who have been parking where they should not be parking! I am Scottish and I never gave the cost a second thought! I am a carer for my wife and she struggled to get three quarters of the way at the pools, next year we hope to reach the top! So please give thought if wanting not to pay five pounds for parking - you pay more that that for an hour parking down in London - so please help these guy's preserve the fairy pools for the next generation to enjoy! I am sure most visitors will be in awe in their visit to the pools! TIP - park on the lowest part of the parking area - saves you walking back to the top tear of the parking area after such a long walk there and back! Enjoy - I am sure you all will!
