I have a lot of bearing EDC folders and personally never saw the need for it in a bali.
In folders, bearings help mask unevenness in the force used for opening. The fact that there's lower correlation between the force applied and the resulting movement is actually a feature there. With a positive detent, it's more like a light switch - on or off, open or closed. But that quality is not necessarily desirable in a bali where you want the movement to be predictable and continuously responsive to your inputs.
That said, I think if everyone learned to flip first on bearing balis, we'd be having a different conversation 😆
Tang pins vs zen pins!!!!!
😉
Jk thanks for all the daily content!
Also to add imo I think you can feel the weight of the bearing system at the mid point of the bali vs. the weight of a bushing system. Which to me is kind of a negative but overall I think is a preference thing.
Tang vs zen pins huh, there's an idea
zen wins, tang pins are stupid and sound bad and always fall out
@@geckoww2022 homie said it straight up
Zen pins win, tang pins just sorta get crushed when used a lot (except the nautilus) while zen pins are added quite discreetly but overall they both work well just not have them built like shit or it’ll just suck
there has been a pressfit bearing type balisong called “heron” by spasm fingers. its using 2 bearings instead of 4 but i could be wrong bcuz it also uses washers to be cranked down like a bushing.
bearings is bouncy if doing fast trick while doing slow tricks has more flow
I like how bearings can be tuned so many ways. And how lube/drylube can change the experience so much.
and you can just leave them dry lmfao
@@user-ww2nd4co2p I really life graphine if I'm not doing a wet lube. I find totally dry makes noises I don't like
@@Randy-Lahey how do you use it and is it literally just power graphite?
@@user-ww2nd4co2p yeah just throw a dusting over the bearings, not too much and really work it in after you put the knife back together.
@@Randy-Lahey thanks man i’ll try it sometime
Yeet! Yeah pressfit bearings wouldn’t be an overnight thing even if someone was able to properly implement them. But i just enjoy the fact that bearings are easier to clean with compressed air and they dont require oil that attracts more dirt. Still flip both though
Wicked Sic vid!!! Excellent viewpoints and definitely food for thought 😀😀😀😀😀
Slayed
I am with bearing balisong with custom bearings and I am really happy
People who like the bearings better are the same people who would pick Pepsi over coke
I would pick Pepsi over Coke 😶
Are you sure you want to Unsubscribe - (Yes) (No)
Pespi over Coke anyday of the week😐
I would pick Pepsi over coke, unless the coke is in a glass bottle, but even I am a bushings guy
As a part of the south, I’d take Pepsi over coke :)
I love how he Chaplins a ton know!🤣🤣🤣
Always have always will
Technically it would be possible to do both by having a larger bearing with the bushing inside of it and then washers on the outside?
I don't think so since the bearings would still be compressed and inhibited from moving freely but I'm certainly no expert
i have a 25 dollar 51 clone i bought off amazon (they dont make them anymore) that i got a year and a half or so ago, which i can crank all the way down for perfect play. they arent press fit or anything they just work like dat
Press fit bearings tend to be pretty thick. I'm not even sure you can get them in that size. At least I have never seen any small enough to fit in something like that. Ya a quick search the smallest i could find is 6mm or nearly 1/4 inch. that would be a damn thick blade.
Honestly someone should just send it
By press fit you mean skateboard style bearings I assume, if so spasmfingers heran uses those style bearings
Yeah, you’re improperly using the word pressfit though press fit means that when the pivot or zen pin for example is when they take the pen and they use pressure to press it inside of the handle and it expands it. I think, more or less the idea you’re going for is having the actual barrel the actual pivot barrel be slightly or the exact same size as the handle from handle the handle so that when you tighten it all the way, the screw goes to the end of the pivot and can’t be overtightened that would be my best. Guess on what you mean and then have the bearings inside of there like normal but if you press fit a bearing it would expand and it would it wouldn’t have any pivoting so obviously you didn’t really understand what press fitment exactly but everything would be stuck in place if it was pressfit, you just need a barrel or (female part to your pivot) to be the exact length that you needed for it, to be tuned perfectly, which I don’t seem to be impossible, squid industries because they make their own so they in theory could do this because they make their own hardware but yeah I love your Contant try and bring you up to speed a little
I know what press fit means, I was simply talking about a pivot type someone mentioned in a comment that I know little about. Thanks for the info though
which lube do you use for bearing balisongs? And can you use lube like super lube or benchmade blue lube also on bearing balisongs?
I’m probably way late, however I’d stay away from lube if at all possible, that being said if you’re going to get a very lightweight low viscosity oil, nano oil Lucas gun oil that type of thing
I only like bushings better because it doesn't stop as suppose to a bushing knife. it is however personal preference and not against bushings.
True
Wait what?
Squid Industrie needs to put out a bearing knife if they haven't already
True
Would bearing make my Tsunami clone smoother? It's just on floating washers.
You can't just put bearings into a balisong like that
@@BladeBias oh yeah, I just took it apart. Floating washers. But how about on balis that are just basic washers?
max ace makes a shit ton of bearing knives for around $150
I think the taisong z is on bearings
It is, did I say otherwise?
2:34 whats that trick called?
Z Choker
what guitar is that
Ibanez something or other
Revo nexus
I flip a stock lucha😭🙏
I am so sorry
i just want a knife that feels nice and flips nice after i learn to flip, sofar im really not into the whole like...tuning up my knife past general maintenance, and it sounds like bushings are easier to maintain, i think? so im glad the squidtrainer V4 im getting has those. we'll see though
I loooooved both of my aluminum luchas, but if the bearings aren't raced properly they feel like shit, that's the problem with bearings is it requires the user to know how to properly "break it in"
