I met Deron after a 96BB show. I simply just wanted to tell him how much of a fan I was but we ended up talking about how I lost my mom last year 2 cancer.Deron cared so much about my story. This dude hugged me as I cried and vented to him about my life(keep in mind I’m a 24 year old grown man) everyone please support this dude, he’s a true musician and a great guy.
deron is sorta nice to me but I get what your saying. sorry for your lost man, lost my brother to congestive heart failure :( Nov 2019 :( and 24 I'm 27 so your sorta young
Judging by the song 'Sara's Mask' I'm guessing he could somewhat relate. Still awesome to hear, have always loved DM. He's an emotional dude who wears his heart on his sleeve which is too much for some people to deal with (coughchadjesscough) but I think it's all the more reason to like him.
@Chris Holian and @phillip the third Glad to read about all your experiences with Deron and I thought is amazing and pretty nice about how he treated both of you, and what I can say from my heart is I'm sorry for your losts. All I can wish from you both is May God comfort your hearts. Especially that you guys be strong and be ok.
Thanks for doing this interview. Deron is one of my favorite guitar players and such a riff master. CKY achieved something 99.9% of bands never do which is have a unique sound. Deron should be proud of that.
This was awesome! Everything I wanted to know about the behind the scenes of the sound of CKY. One of my favorite interviews on UA-cam from one of my favorite musicians
This is my favorite episode so far! Deron is my main influence on guitar/singing/songwriting. Also I'm loving the quality of this video and the camera editing Raab!
This was rad to listen to, 96 QBB made me want to play guitar so I loved the guitar talk; I've been playing for 19 years because of it! Thank you for the amazing interviews.
Thanks for adding the song at the end of this! I had a hard time figuring out why CkY's newest album just felt underwhelming to me. Don't get me wrong, still love the guys but the current sound is just missing something for me. After listening to this, I can safely say it's Deron's sound. I will definitely be checking out 96 Bitter Beings after this!
I love the longer format of this one, you get so much more out of it rather than just an hour or less. If it's interesting to listen to people really will listen for hourssssss
this was a refreshing great interview. the dialogue between you was chipping away at the depth of the creative process in all things sky/96/deron. thank you for the entertainment
Awesome podcast! I used to be obsessed with CKY and that style of guitar playing. Still to this day I will never use anything but a wound G string on my guitars. Thanks for all the years of great music deron!
Chris! Always one of the best and funniest from the krewe. Glad to see you active again, man. I guess you've been active, my slow ass just found this recently. Keep up the good work, and God bless sir! (No offense meant by choice of words.)
Also if you have trouble finding wound G sets that are close to proper tension for D standard; a trick is to buy a set of 7 string's and you can use the first four strings of the set and the last 2 for your A and D string. So you end up with something along the lines of 56-11 or 54-10 if you like em light. Personally I think 58-60 on the low D plays best for tight rhythms.
Man I've watched 3 bathroom breaks today!!! So interesting. Deron was CKY man when that shit came out there was NOTHING like it. So unique!!! There is no genre u can put them in. It stands alone.
Just discovered the BB podcast, like 1 year late but still.. been listening non stop the last few days. Loving the Camp Pain record and stoked about Deron's new projects! Love his voice and iconic style and riffage. I bought an OC-3 last year so my band can basically rip off CKY
I got to meet both of these guys at Loaded, a dive bar in Hollywood. Probably one of the most surreal experiences....seeing Raab bob his head to Deron's new band lineup.
I love this guy. *And this is a seriously deep and overarching discussion about music creation, recording, promoting, performance...I could go on. Tremendous insight from someone who has been in 'it' from the ground (or below ;) ) up and whom has been creatively tactile throughout the years and still is to this day. Highly recommended listening to _anybody_ either in the midst of their musical endeavours or is even just beginning. I love it.
11/9/2023. Replayed deron’s, lord bottaro, rake and frantz’s episode’s at work. Raab, you should do a bathroom break 2.0 in the future! would be great to hear what these guy’s been up too since 2019. miss the podcast!… btw give us fan’s an update video on yourself soon and what you been working on.
deron is so inspirational, i’m one of the types who can sing but i’m bloody terrified of being vulnerable in front of a crowd… he’s right though, what could happen? so real
would’ve liked if deron went into detail about the universal culture shock era foreign objects and world under blood but this is one of the best podcasts raab has done. could listen to derons story all day
@@phillipthethird3424 I believe the name was Dead Things but I could be wrong. I was living in California in the early 2000's getting away from the East Coast and starting to get clean from drugs at the time so my mind is a little fuzzy. But I do remember that because I was jus getting into CKY at that time.
Love the podcast Raab! Just discovered it a couple weeks ago and been powering through them all. Don’t worry about putting a time limit on them (unless you gotta piss!), let it flow and end naturally \m/

Dudes still cool and down to earth. I’m always bummed that the crew separated but hey, these are people and people have issues that don’t always work out for the folks around them. Great episode! Thanks Raab.
Deron Miller. So nice to see what he's up to now. Always have, always will love this man. Great visionary.
Dico! That would make for a great podcast
Where is Dico nowadays?!?!?!
Dico won’t do it. He likes his anonymity.
This was a great conversation with Deron, always loved his vocals on cKy.

Fantastic episode, Raab and Deron. This one was really special and quite hilarious at points.

Right?? Im fixin to buy some wound G’s, possibly remove my B and e string as well 😂
ROUGHDALE Records and Book Dude, I’ve been using wound g’s for around ten years. They’re so much better and they don’t sound like total ass

Dude the wound G sounds so much better and it’s way easier to keep in tune.
Not in my experience
I always wondered about the g string tone in 96QBB. Thats sick!
D'addario make packs with a wound G string they're really fucking good
