I'm a new teacher in Los Angeles. Boy am I modeling you. Tone, speed, body language, style. Style, even though my personality is still mine lol. You're doing the Lords work .❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're the best mentor I had. I’m currently in my 2nd year. I worked in the healthcare industry in IT, accounting, HR, and payroll for 38 years. I’m 60 and teaching CTE Business and Finance. I taught advanced marketing and pract- business mgmt. thank you. I start my mornings watching your channel on classroom management and other tips! Thank you❤
I've been teaching since 1999. I actually was going to quit my second year of teaching. All that stopped me was an accident that laid me up for a few weeks with nothing to do but think. I had time to give myself an honest overview. While I don't recommend that, it does remind me that many teachers who quit could have actually succeeded, maybe with more help or with better advice. Your points were good. I definitely needed a dose of humility when I started teaching. I thought I could do so much more. And I was very much guilty of spending my time with the most negative people. Changing that really changed my outlook on teaching. Even now that I'm in a better place, I still avoid those negative colleagues. And I try really hard to be that positive colleague as well. And that boundaries one was important. I quit trying to be a martyr. I have a life outside school.
I believe you are correct. I did walk away from teaching, but I came back... Having that support is key. My mentor first year literally told me all the time to leave the profession and do something else.
I’m studying to be a teacher now, and videos like these help me feel so much more prepared for when I’ll have a classroom of my own. Thanks for the great advice!
Number five, stay forever a humble student in your career and life. Which means you are willing to learn even as a teacher who is seasoned. Example: Real Rap With Reynolds!
I need help with staying on top of grading. I have a terrible procrastination habit with grading and I try to come up with a plan but it isn’t working. I need some tips to stay on top of it without taking it home because I have four kids. I have enough work waiting for me at home.
yeah, Selfmanagement is so important... I have a lumbago now from doing to much for my lazy family.... I started family-work-Managemant immediately.. and the more I do it, the better I feel.
For all folks new to Reynolds, please be sure to pick up his book. Teach Your Class Off is awesome. As educators we must keep reading folks! Plus, support your friendly neighborhood youtuber.
