- Jock’s BRAND NEW project vehicle has arrived - a 1988 Land Rover Perentie! 🤩
This project has been an absolute DREAM of Jock’s for years, and now he has the opportunity to not only build-up an epic rig, but test wheel it in Cape York & auction it through Grays.com later this year to raise funds for Young Veterans!
This build is a special one… Get keen!
The transition from active military service to civilian life is a huge change for veterans. You can check out everything about Young Veterans, what they do & how to donate, here 👉 www.youngveterans.com.au/?pag...

Jock’s presenting skills are 10/10
When are you going to come and work on a sh*tbox with us?
The two best 4wd channels on UA-cam in one video 🤔
The episode the mcm and and 4wd 24/7 fans are waiting for 🥵
That would be the best collaboration ever!
4wd 247 and mighty car mods? I'd watch the crap out of that, this needs to happen like immediately
the 2 best 4wd channels combining??? which is best, though? ;)
I was in 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment from 2011 to 2017, the Triangle on the Door with the 3 on the bottom left confirms she was 3CER, the 23 on the front and back being 23 Troop, which was 18 CE SQN. Extremely likely I drove that exact Rover at some point :D
Jock should invite you on a podcast or a episode and talk about it if all checks out
FFR model too with those extra little doors.
ARN 48-787
I was one of the orderly room clerks at 3CER 18 CE SQN from 2009-2010. Went to Papua New Guinea with the squadron on ex Wantok Warrior 2009. We took over a fleet of 110's, 6x6's and Unimogs. Whilst on ex, I had the privilege of being the OC's (Major Brereton) personal driver and radio operator, but lost the former role due to speeding too many times around Port Moresby, lol. Prior to return to Aus, we spent a couple of days stripping and cleaning almost down to the chassis (as required by AQIS) - I remember sitting on a milkcrate for a seat as I drove a 110 onto the HMAS Kanimbla at port in Port Moresby. Fun times. I almost spat out my coffee when I recognised the unit markings. I live in melbourne now, and the only other 110 I've seen driving around that's kept it's unit markings was also an ex 3CER vehicle from 25spt sqn, which I was also an orderly room clerk for in 2010.
That’s pretty awesome
ANZAC Day aswell, how special mate. Great work Jocko
We will remember them
Lest we forget
We are a 100% volunteer run charity and super pumped for the support. Jocko and the team have been amazing and supportive from day 1.
So the farm truck, the 60, Clifford and Private Perentie. Old school road trip!!!
nah would have to be lieutenant landy lol
I've been waiting for them to do a trip with these 3 4bys to see which is the better off road.
I learned to drive in an old G60 and have had both Landrovers and Landcruisers, personal opinion Landcruiser was nices to drive but Landrover was better off road
@@lesralph70as agricultural the 110 landy was back in 88 it's still miles ahead of any dirty old ute that hasn't seen a road since 2005 😂
Derp
Could make a new series out of rescuing old 4x4’s and raffling them off at the end. Would make great midweek content
Trust Jocko to pull up the most unusual nugget to build up. It's an amazing choice my guy!!
Awesone project say I as a Defender owner myself.
If you're not already, can I recommend you save all the original parts removed from the vehicle and hand them over to the new owner, which will maintain authenticity and value.
US Air Force retiree here. Massive kudos to you Jocko. Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Fist bump to you brother 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Definitely one of my fav episodes, nice to see a bit of Aussie history being displayed. Love Jocko’s passion shine through 😉
Wow! My first 4WD was an ex New Zealand Army 2A Landrover... and funnily enough it too had been a radio vehicle! And... the first (TV in those days) offroading show I can recall watching was the Bush Tucker Man featuring Les Hiddens who drove a Perentie! This is going to be fantastic content! Frothing is an understatement!
YES JOCKO! You said ages ago you wanted to build a Land Rover and now you finally get to do it! I can’t wait to see this thing on the tracks! 🇬🇧🇦🇺
Yesss, finally some Land Rover love on this channel
What an awesome idea, especially with the timing of ANZAC Day
We Will Remember Them
Love Land Cruisers but there’s just something special about old LandRovers that’s just something else
Anybody thinking of owning one, make sure you have at the very least the basic rollover hoop behind the front seats. Even the hard top version has NO rollover protection. They fold like paper. Stay safe. The 24v loom is entirely separate for the radios only but dont bin the alternator, they cost more than an engine.
Looks like 16 Sqn 3CER. There is probably a dingo paw print somewhere on there. 3CER's mascot was an alpine Dingo named Wooley when I was there and was known as the Dingo Regiment. We would stencil that paw print on everything. If that vehicle was in the regiment in 99 it would have gone to Timor with us.
18CE SQN, which comprised of 21, 22 and 23 Troop (the 23 on the front). 16CE SQN had 15, 16 and 17 TP
Thanks mate, it's been 20 years since I was there, i could remember the squadrons but not the troops. Electrical fitter '99 ‐ '01.
I was at 3CER 98-02 I recognised the old unit markings on the door- probably went to Timor in 99 with us!
Would love To buy it went Jocko is done with it
@@user-yb6fy6by9p nice one. I was an elec fitter in Wksp troop there 99-02. Me, Dutchy Vanderblis and Cpl Stewie Stuart. I took Stewies Cpl spot in 01. I posted all my letters on my Facebook page from Timor if you want to have a walk down memory lane.
Please take it to cape with the farm truck and Graham's G60!!!!
bloody oath mate. that would be a cracka
Great for our veterans to have a connection to a military based rig .... Landrover for the win🔧🤠🏆🥇👌
As the owner of a Defender 110 and an ex ADF Unimog, your research was on point, really looking forward to the rest of the series! Side note, you can get castor corrected Superflex arms for these, i also run a Tom Woods double cardan front shaft.
My wife works with Defence in a role that transitions veteran's into civilian life. This is an awesome thing your doing lads, should be proud of yourselves. 🌺
*crys* Stop. Stop it. You had me at “Landrover”
As a US Vet...Love seeing this ...Well done Jock and team!!!!
Jocko, cheers to you mate for this project. I served with Australian soldiers in Egypt. They are class act people!!!
A 6x6 perentie would of been awesome.
There is a very very high chance that used to be one of the rovers I used to drive my LT around in when I was in 3cer from 2000 - 2005 brought back so many memories id give anything to have that back in my life.. to own that would be a dream come true
It's from 16 fld sqn too mate. Fancy seeing you on here!!
@@justinreeves962 hahaha hey dude how are you I swear that was ours ay
It has the 3 on the the bottom left and 16 at the top, just missing the troop it was from. Not bad mate, how have you been?
@@justinreeves962 yeah I saw those 2 been pretty good mate
Thanks Jocko and 4wd247, what a great charity to support. It's a shame the ADF doesn't support its veterans the way charity's do
Love a perentie! This thing Is quite possibly the most purpose built tent on wheels ever made!
It's cape york ready as is 😂
Awesome to see another Defender on the show and for a great cause!
Welcome to the Perentie fraternity! I also have an FFR - it constantly amazes me how capable they are. Gotta say I am fuming though - I went to Tough Dog a while back when i needed to do my old girls suspension and they just shrugged and said they couldn't help!
There you go you have to put your perentie on U-Tube to get any form of help from Tough Dog.
When I discharged from the Army we had 4 cylinder petrol Rovers. First couple of years it was the GS and as a Gun Tractor then the last 7 years we had the FWR (fitted with radio). The 4 cylinder petrol was a slow but sure vehicle and no desert not jungle could stop it.
Jocko, you do the best presentations.
Looks so sweet! Tough as nails just like the men and women who drove them in the military.
You legends have outdone yourselves this time at 4WD 24/7. Been following you guy since the mag days back in 2009 and a a Veteran who joined up in 1987 driving around in these things and spends a lot of time raising funds for veterans over here for a similar reason to your Young Veterans I just had to share this episode with so many of my mates 👍
Respect ✊
Thanks for your support mate - cheers!
We asked for a perentie build and you've listened.
Can't wait to see the action and a couple of good trips with it.
If you want I'll happily tag along with my 6×6 perentie.
(Dreaming I know)
Love this, the channel has the budget, let's restore the old girls ❤
It about time mate! Good on ya to bring some culture back into 4WD24/7
Finally, a mans 4x4!👍👍😎😎❤❤
Please bring out a part 2 for the rest of this build. Luv your work.
Even though this one will be heading on, I feel this channel should get jock his own Parentie the joy in his face says it all
Will make a change from all the old toyotas and Nissans although i like those to
that KLR rig looks so good on challengers
As an American vet, I'm excited to see this build and where this thing ends up!
i like that Jock have no car done, all are in the shed not working properly, but with confidence: " i Have new project" 😀
Awesome, great vehicle and great cause.
Well done guys, just wish it went for longer. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Best build you have ever done 👍. I’m a veteran 22yrs service several deployments, I really appreciate what you’re doing for veterans, there should be more of it.
The best variant for off-road was the SRV, Scout Reconnaissance Vehicle, power steering, better suspension, two fuel tanks, endless air, spare wheel carrier’s, extra jerrycan holders, better roll cage etc.
Did you tweak the fuel pump to allow for the turbo?
👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent work, and I'm not only referring to the Landy, statistics on younger vets are frightening, all the best on the project!
The triangle logo on the doors is a Royal Australian Engineers identification symbol. The 3 would also indicate 3CER. 23 is possibly the squadron it belonged to, and because it’s an FFR it’s likely that it was a troop command vehicle ✌️👌
Of course this was released on ANZAC Day!! Legends! What a perfect video to remember our soldiers and those who still serve. Thank you all 💪
I would love to see a Landy in the 4wd 24/7 main fleet! That being said, I love what you’re doing here! And, being from the US, I hadn’t heard of the Perenti before so great bit of history!
Have a look into the SAS LRPV
@@col470 will do!
Happy ANZAC Day 🇦🇺 🇳🇿
Have a good one - UK still remembers 👍
Most exciting project they’ve ever done!!! Which is saying a lot
It’s so good seeing some land rovers on this show , don’t see much of them .
Had a 110 Defended here in UK and a rough as they air, I loved it.
Great idea, we have a charity which does similar here. My best mate's in a chair following a rta 40+yrs ago and making sure he's always included and places accessible is so important.
Gwyn Lewis is the man when it comes to mods for off roading a landy. Representing Llanfair Careinion!!!
A great episode to watch. Jocko you the man.
Wow, glad to see 4K res improvement in 4WD 24-7 upload!
I can't wait for the next episode...You just gotta love the dream Perentie..
At last, a bit of variety.
Once you've got the Landrover Bug that's it you will want to own one personally, they are just a great enjoyable vehicle
Especially if you enjoy oil leaks and being towed.
Landrovers like to mark their territory and if its not leaking it mean its not got any oil. As we say in england 70% of all land rovers made are still on the road the other 30% made ig home again lol
So excited for the new build Jock! I can tell how passionate you are about it. Good luck on the tracks!
Excellent vid, welcome to the Landy Family, you'll not regret it.
Well done to all involved! Makes me proud to be an Australian
What a trio for a big trip The Farm Truck, The G60 and the Perentie 👍
I was really disappointed with the choice of vehicle in the beginning until Jock mentioned Young Veterans. I'm all in now! I'm excited.
yeah land rovers arent for me either but its for a bloody good cause.
Happy to see a defender in the Show, cant wait for next episode.
preserving iconic history
Your a true Australian Jock, Les Hiddins will be proud 🇦🇺🤙🏻
Jocko is a legend
Looking forward to this build!!
Such a cool build! Loved all the history and facts about the Perentie! Can't wait to see it in action!
Only just started watching but I’m excited already. I’ve been so keen to build one myself
Finally you guys are getting into proper 4WD's, Land Rovers and Jeeps...
Watching all the way from Ireland lads love this channel I always binge watch video after video...unreal vehicles and education about terrain and vehicles cooking ideals and great laugh to watch don't miss one not even oldies...top work lads
I own a FJ40 and a HJ45 Landcruiser but can see the beauty of that Landrover, it is scrubbing up well and a great cause and great choice of days to drop episode.
Really looking forward to the build and seeing it on trips. 👍
Timing 👏🏻. 🇦🇺 love it. Thanks to all our service men and women past and present and future.
Drove them for 20 years, took them over the Simpson, and up to the cape all standard towing the halmark trailer
We need more landrover content
100% agree
@@robmacca67 discovery 3 or 4 would be cool
Awesome video as always Jocko. Can’t wait to see it tackle Cape York.
Now this is gonna be the coolest build in 4wd 24/7 history
My pop daily drove a 2a for 40+ years. We still own it, Tough old girl 👍
88 :) the year i left school. Hope you have fun with it, nice to see them getting some love.
Landrovers for the win! 💪🏼💪🏼
Good on ya Jock! Legend! 👍
I sense a Shaun’s 47 vs grahams g 60 vs jocks Land Rover
Don't Forget JimnyJess
@@DMSVICAU hell yeah
Lest we forget well done 4wd24/7
I have watched you guys for like over a year. Love the adventures and mechanical tech. I might go down under and bid on this vehicle. My daily driver is a 2015 76 series LC. I am American and former soldier who lives in Panama. My second tour here but this time I’m a civilian. Total almost 20 years. I found my LC at the port in Colon Panama. It was on the dock for a year. She only had 11km at the time. Installed ARB lockers, old man emu lift and suspension stuff. She is bad ass. The original destination was the Middle East. All the writing and owners manual is in Arabic. Now my girl in Central America. I’m amazed at what you guys do for us veterans, gooood job we are often forgotten.. cheers mates
I am a cowboy from Wyoming by the way. Most people do not know where Wyoming is. Big state in the USA up high in mountain plains and home to Yellowstone. Nobody lives here except my family
Great episode on a very special day!! Jocko giving us a class act, as always!!
Excellent in every way
Lest we forget
Gosh darnit, this makes me miss my old '75 109" ex-mil. Really sweet build! Use the heck out of it!
what a cool project!
An absolute weapon! 👍😎
No matter who you are your a land rover design fan
Landy's are the best! ❤
Last episode Jock drove the Zook because everything he had was broke, solution - Land Rover! awesome new content!
🤣
Iam so happy to see this ❤
Great project for a great cause, good on you!
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Looking good Jock! Can't wait to see you tackle the tracks up in Cape York!
This is going to be the most popular Cape York trip I think plus luv your nerdy explanation of the army specific mods
