I Love It Loud DID get played on MTV. I used to hang out at this local rock club that played MTV on a big screen, and that video was played several times a night for a while.
The problem with Creatures is that nobody knew it was out!!! I stumbled on it in a record store. no Promotion! we weren't listening with our eyes, a**hole! I didn't even know Vinnie was in the band until Lick it Up was released. I actually thought Vinnie was Ace when i saw him on the cover.

He was more slinky and wiry than Ace who we all knew would not be there. He fit in well enough. too bad he was such a head case. You couldn't help but love Eric he was so sweet and gracious

Creatures was a great album but its lack of sales had little to do with makeup and more to do with the disappointments and departures that were Dynasty, Unmasked, and especially The Elder. Taking the make up off let people know this was not the same band and THAT was the rebirth of KISS, which also happened to coincide with the most profitable and popular decade of music that has ever been and likely will ever be. Also, Vinnie Vincent was and is a nutcase but without his genius, KISS would have never had that rebirth. Vincent was largely involved with Creatures, Lick It Up, and Revenge, three albums widely considered among the top 5 of the KISS catalog.

Turned out Vinny was a malcontent and would never sign his contract. Gene and Paul finally gave Vinny the Axe. Vinny slapped lawsuits on the Kiss Organization constantly. Vinny was unseen for twenty years and people were shocked when he recently made an appearance with Gene Simmons s Gene had a Vault deal $5,000 a pop. Vinny showed up wearing a ladies Pant suit and looked Fem as ever. Frumpy with his silly wig, Gene just wanted to get through the meeting lol. They played and sang a few songs and Vinny was hoping Gene would want to collaborate with him on some Venues. Vinny is broke as a joke as he drove up in a clunker, car looked like he got it at Goodwill. A promoter set up a few show’s to help Vinny but he canceled every time. Stranger than strange.
What is the order...in how all of these videos were put out? I want to see them all, in order. Somebody help me with that? I'm trying to go buy the dates but....

That was not entirely accurate. I was at the Long Beach show when Vinnie actually played for about 20 minutes ,or so it seemed! It's on UA-cam, you can watch it yourself. I thought it was the best part of the show. KISS was like watching twisted Bon sister Jovi, or something. I stopped going to see them at the Asylum show ,walked out on the third song! Anyway, this was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time! Do more!
I grew up in the 90s, the youngest of three boys, and KISS was the epitome of what was wrong with wrong rock in the 1980s and what grunge was, implicitly, created to destroy. I never gave the band a chance until now; they have legit good songs, they are real musicians etc but I find their drama/history and their personalities just fascinating, especially at their diversity. I give Gene and Paul a ton of credit for their business acumen and legit musical abilities, consistency and longevity are traits to admire and strive for. Don't get me wrong though, Ace is my favorite overall.
Eric Carr was an exceptional drummer. Also a multi instrumentalists. So sad what happened to him. Vinnie Vincent wrote alot of songs with Gene, but was a terrible lead guitarists. Paul hated Vinnie to this day. Vinnie was as equal to Paul in the queen drama department. If Vinnie wasn't such a crazed drama queen, he's song writing would of propelled kiss in record sales, but you knew that Paul had to be the queen 👸 of the band.

If Paul had punched out Vinnie like he said that he was seriously contemplating,...I wonder if he would have stuck his finger up Vinnie's butt when Vinnie was knocked out on the stage...? That truly would have been monumental 'coming out' moment for Paul. If that had happened and happened in today's twisted society, the headlines would probably read something like, 'Rockstar comes out of the closet in an act of bravery and courage'.

Not only did you have the hair bands, you had New Wave, the NWOBHM, Hardcore Punk, Post-Punk, Indie and all these over things where 70's hard rock sounded dull by then. Had it been the follow up to Love Gun instead of making a disco album, a pop album and then a concept album trying to get critical acclaim and mainstream popularity then it likely would have been better received. There is a nostalgia feel to that sound now and it's retro cool but for 1982 that's kinda bad. It's like when they tried to copy a particular sound that was short lived on Crazy Nights and Carnival of Souls to appeal to quickly sell records, it ages fast and always feels dated like the time Alice Cooper tried to be cool by copying the industrial metal that had been popular in the 90's right at the point it was going out of fashion. KISS were always chasing through the 80's jumping from trying to emulate Van Halen to Bon Jovi and always being behind the curve.

Eric Carr shoulda been the last person to critique Vinnies over the top playing. He played ahead of them live and sped songs up so much it took away any soul they had. Carrs drumfills were very cliche and always sounded fake.

Lick It Up is better than Creatures in every way. Songwriting, musically, vocally, and production. It's also much heavier.

I grew up with the Tommy Thayer/Eric Carr and Bruce Kulik/Eric Carr KISS era. Both were the best KISS era of my generation

Eric Carr shoulda been the last person to critique Vinnies over the top playing. He played ahead of them live and sped songs up so much it took away any soul they had.
Carrs drumfills were very cliche and always sounded fake.
Kiss of the 80's were Paul's solo band they did the one massive MTV hit with a lot of filler.
