Yup, you're one of the guys who told me so. I just don't want ya using this on a dead branch unless you get it set so close to horizontal that you're certain you're not going anywhere even if that dead branch disappeared.
Appreciate that. The relationship with my viewers friends is mutually beneficial. For 12 years, I never climbed anywhere but under a viable crotch. Thanks to the great questions I get from my friends, all of this has evolved.
Thanks John. Great vid. In this example your hitch was positioned between the two dead branches. What would you do if you wanted to move from there? Maybe you wanted to move up another few feet, or rotate on the trunk, or both. Would you utilize a separate short tether on a redundant bridge, or use the other end of your main line (which still has a cord attached to it) to create another hitch above? The latter would mess with your preset, but you could always place a different one from the new location.
Hey John. I think I've seen enough footage now to go out and purchase some items to start building my system. Would your paracord preset be adequate to act as the retrieval rope to break the maverick?
I am trying my best to make video content that will stand the test of time. My favorite rope may change over time as new products become available. And so it seems like a better detail to put on my website than in a video. I have a dedicated page for rope on my website and got y'all a 10% discount at RockNArbor/Ape Canyon Outfitters as well. Use JRB10 coupon code. They have a great selection. I currently have systems using 40ft and 60ft of the 3/8 in / 9.5mm Ghillie rope which is what was used here. Pls tour the website. jrbtreeclimbing.com/
@@feldwebel7734 The Ghillie rope is an awesome color and performs great. It's a little stiffer than I would've wanted. It's also very rugged and so I am seeing less wear on the rope from repeated usage compared to some of my other ropes. There is always a tradeoff!
That"s typically will be my method of climbing down here in South Louisiana! have a safe hunting year up there John!

Great question. Yes, but it stretches so much that it's annoying. I prefer a utility cord, like Sterling. 4-6mm. Whatever ya have or like
Yep, good stuff! John do you have a vid on rope suggestions/reccomendations?
