Thanks to that man for curating all this and you for showcasing it. There's actually nothing stopping us from being as powerful as one of these characters except our own lack of belief. 🙂 Once you find that belief you can be greater than even all four of these combined.

Re; FF80 I think you may be correct about this being non-distributed in the UK. Notice the base banner which is aimed at retailers - only US retailers, I think. Same goes for ASM 66.
This from George....I've just searched out my copy of # 80 and it has a T&P 1/- stamp on it (scan attached) so appears to have been distributed in the UK after all. Same goes for my copy of ASM # 66 with banner which also has a T&P stamp on it, plus I can remember buying it at the time.
Interesting. Duncan Mcalpine records it as ND “All issues of the Fantastic Four were distributed in the UK from 1961, right up until the first one-off Non Distributed issue #80 (Nov 1968)”. Pre internet getting it as a back issue it was always less common than surrounding issues.
T&P does appear to have got limited numbers of some books considered ND - Silver Surfer #10 for instance which I have seen one T&P in 30 years of looking.
@@gary-jg4qh McAlpine lists # 80 as ND in his earlier UK Price Guides but not in later ones so most likely was LD over here. My Silver Surfer # 10 doesn't have a T&P stamp either and # 11 has a printed 1/- in the corner box and no stamp. I seem to remember buying SS every month back in the late 60's and had the run, don't recall an ND one. Sometimes the comics would just have a 1/- sticker on them and no stamp.
Re: ff72 cover...
Cover dated 5 months before Silver Surfer 1, This is a far better cover (IMHO) and I wonder if there may have been an intention to use this instead of the Buschema Surfer 1 cover?
Look at it - Surfer prominent, no image of the FF (Except in the corner box) and look who else is prominent - The Watcher, who was the backup feature in those early Surfer issues.
Makes you wonder eh?
(Buschema's first cover looks a bit uninspired to me, especially compared to the covers of SS 2,3 and, of course 4, which are so beautiful.)
Possibly. Stan wanted to do a Surfer book and Jack would probably have been expecting to draw it. Did Stan assign it to Buscema as he (Stan) would have control over the character whereas Jack would have lead direction if he had been on it or was it simply that Jack was maxed out on his current workload….
