Metal Spinning and how to do it without, well, almost without any skill Part 1

  • I was asked to make some baffles to fit a Suzuki 750 exhaust and not wanting to make a press tool I made a metal spinning roller tool instead. In the video you will see me making the first forming of the baffles, now you must realise this is not proper spinning which requires more than a little skill, but the result is just the same. In part 2 there will be a closer view of the action.
NB this is mild steel that is being spun, so no annealing was required, brass or copper almost certainly would need to be.

I like this, funny I work at a steel drum factory and see this type of forming every day but had never thought of trying it on the lathe. I'm sure this is going to be a useful addition to the skill set. Thanks for posting Chris, I've jut caught up with you other videos. Regards, Ade

Thanks! My mind is spinning up and maybe I could solve a problem I have by using Your spinning technicue.

That Chris is elegantly effective... lot easier than trying to make a punch and die set.
