Yeah, I rescued 4 kittens in a field near my home. They were all so vicious like these guys, growling and hissing, and about the same age, it's amazing how quickly the younger kittens become completely socialized. With mine it I gave them a bath right away and it seems like the bath calmed them down. Two days later they were lovable purring fuzz balls and were climbed all over me.
Indeed! I've done the same, and at first, they are like the cartoon Tasmanian Devil... Twirling, shredding, hissing... Next thing you know, they're climbing up your pant leg looking for love and a snack!! Meow!! Thank you for saving those kitties!

My old cat was listening to the babies cry and hiss, he became very upset and started looking for them. He does not like to hear an animal in distress.He gets very concerned.

Or maybe the sounds of distress were triggering his prey drive. It's common for Toms to kill kittens so that the mother will come into heat again.

The guy that alerted the rescuers, seemed to know about the kittens but didn't mention seeing the mom. That, & the fact that the rescuers didn't look for or set a trap for her (which they usually do) makes me guess she's not around.

As a cat foster carer myself, I've found its the hissy crabby kittens that almost without fail end up the snuggliest. I think they're more grateful for the chance at happiness. 😸😍

My mom's cat was like that. At first, Missy belonged to my aunt, but my aunt couldn't handle Missy's aggressive personality. Missy would attack my aunt's legs because she was still getting used to her new home. She was 4weeks old. My mom decided to take Missy in and she bit my dad's hand and made him bleed. We could never touch her without her trying to bite us. I started with petting her while she ate to allow her to get used to human interaction. And I would give her treats from afar. She's 2 years old now and she headbutts my leg and licks it to let me know she wants to be held. She even started sleeping on my bed. And when I go to pet her she lifts her head up and closes her eyes waiting for it and starts to purr. :)

That’s true, but initially they bite and scratch out of fear. It doesn’t take long to turn a kitten into a purring machine.

My black cat is a shadow have to leave a night light on in the bathroom because she likes to lays in the hallway can't step on my baby plus 3 years of training to leave the birds alone but she can go for all the mice and rats she wants 16 years of love
@@barbaragarner9192 Same here. 😊 Mine likes hanging out in the sunroom at all hours of the day, and if I step out there at night (when it’s pitch black), I have to announce myself. She usually scoots to a wall to avoid an accidental collision.

@@barbaragarner9192 Oh, yeah. Mine gave me a 5am wake up call by pawing at my blanket the past two mornings. I’m sure a very small part of that was a welfare check, but obviously the bigger concern is making sure I’m still alive so I can get up and feed her. 😂😹

It was so funny how they went from "hissy, clawy, no touch me " to "ok, you're the boss " when they got their baths. Chilled them right out when they realized there was no danger.
I think children of any species realize that mother/female of any species, when determined to wash said child, is going to have her way regardless of what weapons that child may imagine s/he may apply to the situation.
And this is how you abuse animals in a soft way.
How these ferociously hissing little monsters immediately transform into the cutest little babies as soon as they are on their backs in the water! So awesome to see!
As a village man living on a farm I approve. I myself have 7 cats (2 mother cats and 5 kittens total last year) and i keep them all and if i would ever found a stray kitten i would immediately adopt it.

Holy cow! That was amazing that you got those little goobers out of the rock with your bare hands! Those little kitties are pretty good at shredding - then you gave them a bath! They seemed to calm down and cautiously enjoy it! You guys are wonderful human beings and true heroes... Can't thank you enough for all you do!

Hint: if you want to rescue feral cats yourself...wear leather gloves!..lol..glad to see they all have recovered and are happy little kitties now.
I was thinking that as well. Why don't they have full protective gear in the car ie gloves etc.
Hard gloves for garden work will do too. We used this type of gloves to take hedgehogs out of cages to give them medicine and food. Perfect protection.
@@Stationary76 well they were asked to resuce these cats while they were rescuing a different animal. Most likely did not have the ehar with them like they usually do for kittens
Wear thick leather gloves to stop bites and scratches from getting through to skin, if in doubt , see a doctor and get rabies shots

"Prickly Pear!" I'm falling off the chair laughing!
This really is the worst kitten season we are going to see. With Covid and all the restrictions on shelters and TNR programs. I found two kittens that someone had abandoned on the side of the road two weeks ago. I tried taking them to the human society and they told me to hold them for 12 days because they were so overcrowded. We all need to do what we can right now. If you’re ever thinking of adopting a cat, this is the time.

I adopted an orphan kitten a few days ago

Two new furbabies are scheduled to join my family at the end of the July. Originally I was told that they were a boy and a girl, but a few days ago I got a call saying that they think they made a mistake and that my little boy may actually be another baby girl. I was told that I could back out and wait for another sibling pair but I thought about it for about 5 min and realized it made no difference at all. They are going to be spayed as soon as my Vet thinks they are old enough so gender is really irrelevant. I just have to come up with another girl’s name. I already have a Karma, so I am thinking about Kismet for one and maybe Chaos for the second. Opinions? Suggestions?

If they did the kittens would’ve run everywhere and they might not have been able to grab all of them. It’s kinda upsetting but it was probably best to just take them away while they were in the rock because they felt safe and wouldn’t bolt.

It’s hard not to laugh a their little hissy butts. They’re the cutest little fur balls with such sass.
I’ve fostered little ones that were just 2-3 days old (eyes and ears still closed with no teeth) and they would hiss and even spit at me when I would open their carrier to feed them.
I honestly laughed because it was just so cute. There’s just something about a little feral kitten that I can’t help but love.
I have 2 cats. One was born under my house to a stray cat and I had to hand catch him and 2 of his brothers. They were as angry as those kittens but were as loving and tame as you can get within 2 days. There were 2 more that I wasn’t able to get and the mother moved them. I found out years later that she had moved them across the street to my neighbors barn. Sadly, they were both killed by cars before they were able to grow up. All 3 that I caught found great homes and are living wonderful lives.
It’s better to have them scared and mad for a little while. Being outside is so dangerous for them. An indoor cat’s lifespan is about 16yrs. An outdoor cat’s is about 6.
@@meganesergerie5382 did you really expect them to put them down gently and get attacked by all of them? Seriously? I'd suggest you do what they do and do it the way you think is best. They rescued them and tried to protect themselves as well :)

yep. there's stray kittens in my backyard, they are STINKY CUTE. when the kittens get a little spicy, i melt.

@@mikegee8875 Mike I do hope you are having a joke here? That is the last thing a frightened and stressed kitten needs. Thank goodness these people know what they are doing and these little tear-aways will be socialised as quickly as possible. The earlier they are rescued the better ......before approx 6wks. Any older without human touch/handling it takes them longer to accept human touch. They learn to be mistrusting and it takes sooooooo much longer to win them over.
And they really think they're fighting for their life 😭😭😭

They all seemed to immediately accept being in a bath, even without grabbing that neck scruff.... maybe they had something irritating their skin and the bath soothed it? One of mine that we rescued was covered in ticks (not deer ticks, the little ones)... he wasnt feral but when we put him in the bath you could just see and feel the relief, because they stopped biting. took tweezers and about 2 hours but we got them all!
It's like the feral is water soluble.
Actually it’s probably because they held them upside down like that. That calms kittens down for some reason
Bless them. It was lovely the way they calmed down when they turned them upside down . And Music really went well. I enjoyed it very cheerful and relaxing

For real, tho, I've accidentally brushed bare skin against a cactus before and I was cringing every time they had to reach past that cactus and pull a kitten out. I hope little Agave's heart can be repaired ASAP.
Thank you HFP!!!! I would just like to say this really quick. When I grew up, I always wanted to be a Vet. But the problem was on April 10th, 2019, my dog was hit by a car and it hurt me so much. I knew I could never become a Vet because I knew I couldn't save everything and the thought of that almost made me cry. You guys give me courage in every video and I wanted to thank you guys for helping me! I also learned that you can't save something that doesn't want to be saved.

I am working as volunteer for another cat rescue charity and straight away learn one simple and very important thing: GLOVES!!!
No matter how small or friendly kittens are, ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES. It save you a lot of troubles, scratches, even bites make less painful or penetrated through gloves, than directly on your skin.
And of course, as feral cats and kittens live in unclean area, any direct scratch or bite is even worse when hand is not protected.
Totally agree, serious diseases can come from cat scratches, Can't believe they dont wear leather gloves to protect themselves as a matter of procedure.
Totally agree. I'm a nurse and we had a gentleman who had been bitten by his own cat. He developed sepsis and was extremely poorly, fortunately he recovered

If you have any clothing or cat bed with their scent on it, try leaving that outside! I know that works with dogs, and it should work with cats as well. Also dont leave out food cause that will draw unwanted visitors. Wishing you good luck with finding your baby 🙏

Awe I'm so sorry about that. I recently found a kitten left behind in a pile of junk that is a little girl. She's the sweetest and is so happy to be with me. I sure hope that you find your kitty, they are very special. Try enticing him with some wet food or putting out a blanket with your scent on it or his favorite toy. :] Hope it helps and you find him. :]

Apparently tipping them onto their backs like that makes them stop fighting.
It actually really stresses waaaay more tipping them on their backs but they have a special response to go limp like prey and it's nessary to clean them.
