Rock royalty right there. You're out of this world, Elliot. The Cars were phenomenal. R.I.P. Ben.
@Lloyd--Their music is STILL enjoyed by millions upon millions of people worldwide.. Your opinion is pathetic!
Lloyd Bonafide .....their millions of fans would disagree.
RIP Ric too 😢
💯 %
Amazing guitar player...some of the coolest solos ever played .
His solo's are so great
Now that is a guitar player right there ladies and gentlemen. There is no one like Elliot Easton !
Even back in the day when The Cars were getting started, I remember listening to their music and just absolutely being astonished by Mr. Easton's guitar solos. That was in the early 80's. I was in my early 20's and really got into this kind of music because it appealed to me as it did millions of others. Elliot Easton should go down in history with other guitar legends such as Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Jimmy Hendrix, and David Gilmour (Pink Floyd). All have/had their own styles and are distinctive, yet they excel in their performance, and that is what makes them great.
That ladies and gentlemen is greatness. He’s too darn humble
Elliott Easton is such a kind man, and in my top 5 favorite guitarists! (and I’ve played guitar for many decades) He has a recognizable style, technical mastery, harmonic genius and authentic feel. The whole “guitar hero” package. I hope he keeps producing for years, so I can keep listening and trying to master his rhythm and licks.
Elliot never missed a note in his life! Long live The Cars!
When all my friends were on the rap/hip hop bandwagon in 86, this was the sound that forever changed my life! Thank you Mr. Easton, you are an inspiration!
His solos are magical!
Creator of some of the greatest riffs and tastiest solos in Rock. Elliott Easton = Guitar God.
One of my top fave guitarists
Elliot plays some the greatest solos to ever come out of set of speakers.
I love Elliot my gosh ..he is so gentleman and polite.., humble and genius guitarist...yes I love him ❤...
my fist guitar hero when i was young! and still my favorite
Now THAT is a guitar player.
@Lloyd Bonafide asshole
HELL YES, THIS IS JUST WHAT I NEEDED
Very nice of Elliot to say some nice words about the place.
I love you Elliot Easton your the best
Awesome. Elliot 🎉
Love 😘😘😘
Elliot Easton, so freaking good! Love you man!
Elliot is a great person and an excellent musician. Love this guy!
Love the blues licks!
A living legend
wow! nice!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow so interesting. I drove up-and-down Vanowen for 20 years from Woodland Hills to North Hollywood going to work and back. Where was Norm's Guitars? Near Sherman Way? How did I miss it, or did I just pass by it ? Was it just another store and didn't care since I wasn't a guitar player?!!
Great!! Thanks for sharing!
Can tell that's a really nice strat. Notes pop off of it like crazy.
I'm a lefty and I played this very same guitar a few years after this was shot. Great playing strat although I didn't have $21K on me at the moment. So I bought a '70 goldtop instead. And then Bonamassa walked in the store. Was quite a day at Norms!
Hal C I'm glad you got to play it. Hope you like/d the '70.
amazing original guitar player! awsome!!!
Eliot's playing oozes the good stuff
EE is one of the greats. In my top 5 favorite players. It would be cool to see him play right handed again just for fun.
I picture Elliot dragging a cord out onto the pavement in front of the store & LETTING RIP on those strings....while the whole world's ears prick up and mill around him 🙌 #exquisiteleadguitarist BOOOM!
Very cool 🎸👍
What a nice dude - as a rt handed person who plays guitar left handed ( have no idea ) it was an obstacle in the early to mid 80s to find a guitar - Can someone explain to me something about the
" new" cars group who recorded a few yrs ago
Awesome hey Eliot do you know Guthrie Trapp by chance?
Wow! Anyone that can hook rockabilly guitar to a space ship like the cars definitely gets my respect!
Some other stuff he plays is really tough to figure out, but lots of fun when I finally get it!
How much is a 79 hardtail black black and black with maple worth?
Its all set up and plays like a screaming dream!
Thanks for the great vids!
dude's so sick
I'm surprised to find any lefty in stock at most shops
Wow
Elliott your the man!! Why are you not playing at the Eric Clapton's Crossroads guitar festival?
@Lloyd Bonafide and you're an asshole
Elliot is a lefty... and of course exceptional
When I first saw this just now, I thought, how in the hell does Elliot look so dang young here. Then I saw that the video shows it to be 13 years ago. 😂
Just to think he learnt to play left handed in just over 3 months from playing right along their managers request that they would be more uniformed on stage with Ric Okasek on the other side of the stage that's some feat awesome guitar player
the price is now $25,000 now that EE has touched it
I like the older store that was on Van Owen better but it's just me I guess. The older store was next to the old Amp shop before they moved to Ventura Blvd, I think in Sherman Oaks, or maybe it's Studio City. Not sure if they are still there.
I went to the Amp Shop one day then Norms and I was at the Amp Shop and they had Elliot Easton's Blackface Deluxe Reverb he used with The Cars. He had sold it to them I believe and they were not selling it. They said I missed Elliot by 30 minutes. That's okay because I actually met him at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank waiting for a Southwest Airlines flight to Las Vegas. I believe if I recall he was going to Reno for the CCR Revisited show he was doing. Flight went to Las Vegas then on to Reno.
I also missed Johnny Marr at Guitars R Us in Hollywood on Sunset. I think it was 1989. He was travelling with The Who on their US Tour although not playing any guitar with them. He was a fan of The Who. He was checking out guitar shops on Sunset when it was Guitar Row and he was there with The Who's guitar tech. Once again I missed by 30 minutes. It's always that 30 minute thing.
Sick
nice hat!
you should do a blues album!
MAESTRO
sounded so sweet and those old strats only had a 3 way pickup selector too if i aint mistaken. If you wanna make some solid investments then land, gold, guns, classic cars and vintage fender and gibson guitars are the way to go.
That's quite an impressive regular customer to have.
1:06 It's crazy how he over bends by 1/2 step alot of times.
Cock end guitar shop owner meets a legend
Elliot! ..my nigga!
The young guy look older than elliot
he was also very touchy feely to him
Its a 61 and that's that
Jimmy Kimmels brother is a Shredder
Even if I paid $21,000.... id still suck a guitar
That guitar cost as much as a Car!
seattwa which one??
Guitarist: Master. Interviewer: Doofus.
I love it......when dinosaurs roamed the earth......great player
Stick to the tiki elliot
$21.000. And a lefty at that. Way overpriced.
No question ask he is a very good and unique guitar player! But when I see him playing the blues licks many time, I don't feel he have the souls to his playing the blues!
Go find the live album by 'Creedence Clearwater Revisited' and listen to the solo on 'I Put A Spell On You'.
