The Artie years were the best Stern show years.
Absolutely
Absolutely
Must have not been around in the NBC days.
No they weren't
Artie was pretty insufferable
Artie is literally the best story teller ever. It's like a movie in your mind
Because he’s such a great liar
I feel sorry for you brother
A great liar too. Sadly... he has always had a problem telling little and big lies.
It’s a sign of a personality disorder
@@GabGotti3 A great story teller means you have to lie from time to time. I don't care about the actual circumstances but I like a good story.
Artie was the best thing that ever happened to the Stern Show.
Arty made the stern show what it was. They were the best years of the stern show. Howard owes him a huge debt of gratitude. Howard is a mental case.
They were great years
The best times of the Howard Stern Show was when Artie took over the Jackie chair. The show hasn’t been the same since he left.
i preferred the jackie/billy west era. artie was ok at first but he really brought the greatest comedy show of all time down with all his problems.
@@trump-totalwar6509 you’re crazy. Jackie was not funny. Artie brought comedy, great stories and kept Howard witty. Since he left, Howard has tuned into a complete disgrace to the show.
@@berniesoprano6980 arties stories were mostly bullshit and not entertaining. he was good at goofing on the wack packers but thats about it.
Damn I'm a pussy. When Howard told Artie "we gotta make Robin laugh", I choked up a bit. Fml
It’s not surprising. He’s always needed Jackie or Artie to make him funny
I saw Artie once he’s really funny and a really heartwarming guy ❤
Miss Artie so much man, I hope he's doing well & I'd love to see him do shows again the man's hilarious.
Probably for the best he stays away from the comedy scene though.
I miss artie to
@@DrSourPurpYeah and for good reason. He’s a hack
Love you Artie! The show has never been the same since you left brother!
Got fired*
The show is for twinks, beta males, and delusional democrats now
@@johnv6806 yeah, and your point? He’s right. Show hasn’t been the same since he left. Fired or left, who gives a fuck!
@@berniesoprano6980 I agree. But OP was talking as if he just chose to leave so I was pointing out it wasn't his choice.
Howard lives rent free in a lot of people’s heads.
So glad that he was able to get his nose fixed. Whoever did it, did a great job.
I thought the same thing. Had to look for the date of the interview to see if it was recent. Now if he could just try losing some weight and really get healthy. It's not too late for him.
This is from before that infamous pic of him with the nose, it isn't fixed as far as I know.
High Pitch Mike and Artie was gold every time.
Artie has a true honest soul, wish him all the best in whatever he is doing!
No he doesn't
He absolutely does not
Some ppl get too emotional/ sentimental on UA-cam comments. Lol
@@Valkonnen I didn't say it, I typed it.
@@ComedyKryptonite What a 'clever' retort you made... 🙄
I don't know squat about the torment of drug addiction, but I think I know a good soul when I am given the time to see and listen. Mr Lange, you are indeed a good soul. Merry Christmas.
Not all but several addicts have charisma. Their life support are good hearted people that want to see the highest potential for them. Masters of manipulation, gas lighting and sprinkle in some guilt trips. Then they will show you a glimpse of compassion which usually opens our hearts again along with our wallets and sanity. Do we write these people off? Or do we potentially set ourselves up again? God be with us and give us compassion and a loving soul
One of the most genuinely kind people I've ever worked with, and I don't even do stand up anymore, so you know I'm not just sucking up. 🤣
I’m so happy he’s doing so much better now.
Totally miss Vic Henley. Glad I saw him open for Ron White a couple of years ago.
I'm also glad I saw Artie the last few years before he dropped out of sight. Funny Bastard.
To be a fly on the wall in that hospital room
Artie leaving was the end of Howard's career.
Howie had to change his entire format in Artie's absence because
he could not be replaced.
Artie is a good dude, a real down to earth guy! I miss him but hope he is doing well! I have went down a bad road myself with H and other drugs. I have been good and clean for 4 years now. I have a lot of respect for Artie. He couldn't help how he was used by Howard and I always enjoyed watching Artie more that anyone else at the Stern show. Howard is selfish and used Artie but Artie is not selfish and actually cares about people.... that's the difference. Much love Artie Lange! - Jason S.
You could tell during the show he was a good guy too, the first to help anybody.
Yeah sure Stern used Artie even though Artie brought very little to the table . Jackie was 100x more entertaining
@@jeffreygerard8953 I wonder though if he was told or made to only comment very very little. You know sterns ego, doesn't wanna be upstaged. However like you said Jackie had a good balance .
@@rustyshackleford6789 That’s exactly it. Artie was smart enough to only speak when really necessary due to Howard ego. Howard new Artie had self awareness and thought Artie smart enough for the chair without out witting stern.
Used? He kept him employed and told him to get help multiple times. Artie got a paycheck, no one used him
Thats a tearjerker story. Bummer artie never came back.
Howard said he didn’t want to risk Artie’s health by having him back, even as a guest. I always assumed Howard’s therapist told him he needed to cut Artie off completely & Howard took his advice.
The years with Artie was the peak of the show.
Absolutely
Yes they were
Stern show was never the same after Artie
Artie you fucking legend!
His nose looks so much better
Hey Opie. Long time bro. Thanks for filling in my drive time back in the old days WBAB and early O and A radio call ins. You picked up on me many times and I had some good laughs.
All the best Artie. Be well!
I thought he was Meatloaf for a second there... lol
Opie you were awesome in this! Go back to this format
Sometimes you wonder how so many relationships which gave us so much can crumble beyond repair I.e. Howard and Artie, Mj and Pippen, Liam and Noel and I think it’s cause even tho it takes both parties to start and/or maintain a relationship, it only takes one party to kill it forever
Glad AL is doing good. He really went through a tough time. I mean, he's a Mad TV OG. I'm happy he's sobered up right now.
Sad story but touching I think theres a part of all of us who loves the show that would love to see them reconcile! I think after the way things went down on the show that fate by way of Robins assistant put them all together one last time and they carried on like they always had!
Go Artie Go ❤❤
Always loved Artie but when I saw his nose and the situation surrounding it after not knowing it really broke my heart!😔
You know what they say you can’t trust an addict! So of course Artie did things that hurted Howard, his family members, friends! But tge Artie that we now got is such a kind entertaining loving guy! Who fucked his whole carrier up with drugs! BIG FAN!
Artie isn't your typical addict, he'll lie to you but you don't have to worry about him stealing your money or pawning your jewelry.
Love you Artie stay clean.
Howard's show hasn't been the same since Artie left.
It's always the person who causes all the shit that doesn't understand how people can write other people off.
I am in hoboken and bumped into him a few times and he is very sweet.
I wish Artie and Howard reunited. Howard please.
The show will never be what it was when he was there. The past few years besides the back office shenanigans has been brutal to listen too. Bring Artie, shuli, the good run
I love Arty - funny how he 'guessed' he was an oddity. He built his shit on that. And as a total outsider, we all know how militant Howard comes across, so its not surprising once he got to that limit Arty was incommunicado after his shit. I'm more surprised that Arty plays it off like he thought he shouldn't be shunned after all the breaks. Clearly Howard wanted the best, but there's a limit obviously. Arty needs to be a realist, like we all do, you fucked up past coming back from that shit.
The Opester is actually an excellent interviewer. He lays out the meat, lets people talk and interjects every now and then to keep the flow
Hey Opie, how ya been? 😄
@@quiksix25 Funny. I honestly just feel bad for the guy to be honest. Cumia and Captain Israel, Gavin McInnes are tearing him apart. Podcast review channels are just mocking him mercilessly. I see it everywhere and in all the O&A comments.
You might think "how do you feel bad for a multi millionaire who lives in a penthouse with a hot wife and made a living abusing guests and homeless men". I Dont know, I see how much Opester loves to entertain and how he is the only one who still carries the grudges against Stern, which makes me think he is the only honest one of the bunch.
I just feel bad for the guy and honestly think without him the show never would have been anywhere near as good as it waa.
Without any piece the show sucks
@@thegadflygang5381 I've seen those where people mock his show- pretty brutal
@@thegadflygang5381 opester.....man you're cringy.
@thegadflygang5381 I've never seen more unfunny hacks than those podcast review shows. Shame on Cumia for partaking in that shit. Old O&A would've ripped on those guys for being absolute hacks. Now Ant acts like they're the funniest things ever.
Miss Arties voice and laugh on Howard.. that show is dead… on weak legs… thanks for the laughs! Wish you well Artie…
The Beatles definitely didn’t hate each other the whole time. They were as close as brothers for the vast majority of the time they were together until things sadly got quite heated in the couple of years before they broke up. Even with later difficulties in the decades after that - particularly between George and Paul - they still loved each other
He was given opportunity after opportunity to clean his shot up and he just blew them all off. At some point you have to say I’m done here because you can not save anyone who doesn’t care about themselves, Thry will take you down with them. Artie could have put Howard’s job in jeopardy if he ever got busted doing drugs af work.
People, after time, run out of patience with an addict who won’t take one of many opportunities to clean up their act. Artie needs to move on.
This interview was definitely interesting to listen to. Please consider returning to this format!
According to the clips these days that Ant plays Opie is hardly doing radio anymore. He’s doing clips of Opie iphoning himself in places like his car.
@@mikethomas6120 I do enjoy those segments. You have the same name as one of my best friends.
How olds this clip? I don’t seem to see any 2022 footage of Artie anywhere
I know this is an old interview, but damn, he had it all and threw it away
Jackie’s years were Howard’s best years !!!!
Not wrong
Artie the should be able to recognize the reasons why people don't want to listen to his apologies. Sometimes addicts just have to accept that some of the wreckage they created cant be fixed.
100%.
That show does that to everyone, Howard makes everyone feel like trash cause you can't say stuff back to him... Artie is a sensitive soul. He was the most sincere, honest real kind smart decent person on the show
- Howard can be a bully, all you need to do is observe how differently he treats Fred as compared to how Howard treats Robin.
Howard is the epitome of someone who can dish it out but can't take it.
It's unbelievable to hear him say things like "I don't like the way that I was treated" after he built an entire career on mistreating others (even the disabled and mentally challenged) maliciously.
@@debu9374
How about how he treats Benji versus Robin or Fred?
Man when was somewhat clean (no heroin) on the show he was so good. Those were the years man
6 thousands tickets after everything Arties been thru?.... That's more than most comedians can sell at the peak or their career!
I started listening to HS in late 80's when first came on in philly. I bought Sirius when it first came on . Remember sitting on my car at 6:00 AM the first day show came.. Artie was the best thing that ever happened to the HS show. These days I do not listen to HS anymore. I use Sirius for music and news. I miss Artie
Howard and Artie: Greatest comedy team EVER... Both guys were funny alone, but they were magic together
Umm Ant and Jimmy…WAY funnier!
U can’t b serious!
Anyone else here surprised Artie is still with us?
Jackie and Billy West are like Steve Austin and The Rock. And then the Artie Lange is like John Cena. And then the current show is like an old guy who's trying to keep his friends employed
this footage looks like its from 2004
People shit on Opie but he gave a good interview. Hope Artie is doing well.
Yeah but that's because he's kind of a tool
Great story, love Artie.
He's really loaded. BTW they're wrong about the Beatles, they had their problems at times but they didn't hate each other.
NEXT UP: Last Time Artie Lange Saw His Nose
You have to be a major addict for your nose to collapse.
Who is that southern guy there with them, he's great
Hang in there Art, Howards goin down. You can outlast him bro. your comedy is pure gold.
Stern knew that if Artie committed suicide and fans blamed Howard at all that his show and career would be over so he cut ties. Chose his career.
John and Paul would hang out in NY. They were together when SNL invited the Beatles to come on, and joked to each other they should do it.
Ringo and Paul still talk and see each other. So, they are still friends, just not in the same band.
Man I wish he had a GoFundMe me or did local comedy show meet and greets
There is a difference between being “a horrible person & liar” and self preservation due to being an addict…..
There are choices made. Bad ones, some people just cannot forget.
Like the one your dad made not pullin out that night
@@artgarfunkelart2094 ahhhh witty little fella.
@@oceanchicns little indeed!
@@oceanchicns what was that sir
To think if only Gilbert had gotten Jackie's chair Artie would still have his nose.
Howard was an employer and work colleague. You can’t give an employee 60 chances. Plus they weren’t bros and didn’t socialize outside of work, so why would he respond to Artie’s phone calls after you stop working together?
Artie is a good man.
hes got the best norm mcdonald stories
4:24 for a second it looks like there is a clone of Artie who is also there at a different spot at the table
Howard has been super successful for close to 40 years -- he has had no drug or alcohol problems - he has never been arrested -- he has never been sued by an intern or low level female or any female employee -- as far as his psychological issues - most folks with tons of psychological issues are not able to hold down a job for decades and keep succeeding as Howard has, or care about their appearance, etc -- as far as poisoning minds how about those rappers who spew the N word, degrade women by calling them b#tches and ho's and glorify criminal life and violence -- they are the ones poisoning the minds of a whole generation -
So sad what addiction does to people !!! We miss you !!!
Can’t blame Howard. Artie is on the record for saying the show pushed him toward suicide and deeper into addiction. Howard knows well enough to end an enabling relationship. But this is beautiful story and ending to a wonderful relationship. No hate, all love.
Yup, Howard's a smart dude and probably is getting good advice.
Howard had no problem enabling him for content on the show. Howard cut ties when artie was interrupting too much.
Howard is all about himself, and to wrongly think he fired Artie for his own good is ridiculous.
@@johnv6806 This is true but being on the show made Artie a rich man. His stand up shows were always sold out. He wasn't selling out these shows because of his work on Mad TV or his appearance in the movie Dirty work. He sold these shows out because of the Stern Show. Same with all the books he wrote.
@@bullock4211That’s exactly what enabling is he gave Artie opportunities to feed his addiction
If howard ever made another movie this could be an Oscar scene
Holy shit….this is so right
I don’t even think Howard would recognize Artie
Interrupted Artie 20 times in 6 minutes.
Haven't heard of Howard since he went to siris
When was this filmed?
Artie has said that the money from the show is what made him dig himself deeper and deeper. Basically blaming the show. I also think Howard did him a favor by letting him go.
No. The money had nothing to do with it. Whether wealthy or poor an addict is going to be an addict. Artie has a lot of demons about his father, sadly
He is so high in this... whatever it is,
Artie looks great. Pillar of health. Long love Artie!
Pillar of fat
Pillow?
Your eyes ok?
I thought he fucking died that's awesome he's still alive, hope he's doing well
No kidding he "doesn't write people off like that". Junkies don't write a potential handout off. This is NOT meant to be a slight against Artie......just the way it is. I have known plenty of junkies. And there is a point where ya have to write them off. At least until they get there shit together.
Best story tellers to me. Sammy Gravano and Artie Lange. That’s a combo but true
Nah best story teller is Danny Aiello and a distant second Orson Bean
Great to see Artie looking like his usual self again.
This is 8 years old.
Different story, different tone each time
I love Artie. A good man who has suffered. He is a great person with a huge heart and forthright.
The Beatles never hated each other the entire time.... be real.
Some burning bridges are never rebuilt. That's life. Now, we have a cottage industry of burned out ex-HS employees wondering why they got fired.
Artie looks good.
Howard you forgot "Johnny Winter" and I like as well Lenny Kravitz of course Jimi Hendrix changed the world of music .
RIP Vic Henley
What exactly is the quality that Opie has that makes him impossible to listen to for more money then a minute? He should never talk into a microphone. He should write out his questions to the guest…
Why did Artie Lange say his chair on 'The Howard Stern Radio Show' has been empty around 1:20-1:25, again?...
Because it is empty. It was Jackie… then people “trying out”, then Artie. After Artie left it’s remained empty.
Because nobody else could do it like him
Because Howard hasn’t hired a comedian to take his place since
This is an old clip... Artie's nose is normal
Stern is a very disturbed individual. The more I hear about him - the more pathetic I believe he is. Its a shame.
I hate to be the guy saying this but dude sounds kind of high. I'm a 40-year attic with seven years clean and there's something weird about his clipped speech. Hopefully I'm wrong but I'm catching a weird vibe. It's probably just me.😊
