This game looks really nice, it reminds me of a mix of Final Fantasy Tactics with a bit of another game I can't quite put my finger on. Any chance someone might be able to point me in the direction of the cheapest PC I can get to run the stuff on this game drive? I don't need 4K or 1080p perfection if that's going to make a difference in price. Thanks for making this video 😅👍
@TechDweeb - So I have a serious question, did you do a deep dive check on your PC after running the drive. Because when I purchased it and opened it on a VM; I noticed even just plugging it in it tried to make changes to Windows due to rootkit and trojans on the drive itself. It gets worse, yes, if you run any of those cracked PC games but in reality the number of keyloggers on it are scary in and of itself. Yes several of the warnings are for the cracks to break DRM like you said but there is much more malicious stuff on here than just that. There are even hidden files that are PW protected that can't be scanned. Just worried that you might have done some serious damage to your gaming PC if you ran it raw.
I could get this and never buy another gaming console for the rest of my life and be happy I think. I’m old enough now that I just want to play retro games most of the time anyway. What a time to be alive!
I totally agree with you about the modern systems and modern games. Emulation is not about piracy, it is about nostalgia, memories, good times and preserving and protecting the past.
@@Balalaika74 I used to "download " games illegality before and realized that if there is no money going to the artist to make them (note I did not say sell them) systems would die. Give a system or a game a chance to run it's live cycle so it can become a classic. Let indie dev's get a chance to make some cash off their hard work. I went into the folder and unzipped everything (Took a while) but afterwards all of my 3ds games worked just fine lol.
RetroBat will unzip the archive for you and prompt if you would like to leave the extracted file. So if you want you can leave the games zipped, and then it will just unzip as you need to. I also chose Lime3DS as the Emulator to use in Retrobat for 3DS files. Citra version on the Kinhank is very outdated and I couldn't get it to update, also it's deprecated.

I too enjoy setting this stuff up and every once in awhile I erase it and do it all again but this is still highly inviting to me. I might just pick this up (using your link and code, of course).
I started out with the last hyperspin system and there was so many problems that I decided to make my own drive bought a La cia rugged five terabyte hard drive and now I have the perfect emulation setup for me. Now I still have my other 12 terabyte that I have wrong sets that I could put on my new one. But I didn't do it so there is an air of the accomplishment of setting your own up but I understand too when your first getting into it man it can be really stressful in the beginning.
Yup! A 4 player cabinet is just 4 usb inputs that need to be accounted for. It's likely not an issue with the retroarch systems, but for other stuff you may need to map the controls. Easy to do, shouldn't take long.
Pity it doesn't work on Linux...but then again I have all the roms I'll ever use so this would be nothing if not a nice thing to have, not a necessary one. I agree 100% about the Playnite garbage, just delete it and enjoy the rest of it. Please keep on reviewing these drives, they are a great idea and they keep on getting better all the time! Great video as always Mr. Dweeb!
Picked up one of these to have copies of all the stuff I grew up with. I too could do without the switch and PC stuff. Wish I knew you reviewed the updated version, I would’ve used your promo code.
I use to use emulators over a decade ago but this seems like a good way to go about it now. I for one don't want to risk having my internet provider know what I'm downloading. I'm also having my lady buy me a Retriod Pocket 4Pro or a Odin 2 not sure which, but she's getting me one of them, and I plan on moving a bunch of those games to that. I'd figure hey buy that and just wt it over.
If you are worried about viruses, you can boot this HDD on a Linux (live CD or regular Linux installation) and use some services to verify if there any. It’s not difficult and made you more in peace before you put this in your main PC
They're false positives. After following Kinhank's virus exclusion guide to exclude the drive's drive letter, you're good to go. Got this drive last week (July 2024 21-27), and had an auto-virus scan on the 29th. Nothing wrong. I've taken extensive virus protection measures before. It's perfectly fine to use if you know what you're doing. Even if you don't, the drive comes with help text files a-plenty.
Turns out i drunkenly purchased either this or the previous version a month ago. Relieved about the malware being on the cracked stuff and will stick to the retro sections when i finally get to plug it into my mini pc!
Can’t find it on Amazon. Only aliexpress. It’s safe if that’s what you’re worried about. I’ve bought a few things from that website with no issues (long transit time though! 1 month+)

My first dedicated retro system was the Anbernic RG353V it's a great little system Playstation, PSP, N64, and all the 8 and 16 bit stuff, convenient to have it all in my pocket add anything whatever I want as well. Hey, I think batocera connects to the modern light gun hardware - just throwing it out there because I didn't see any other reply yet. There are other vids from other makers that verify this, so dig around to make sure if you like but if nothing else the dolphin bar can be hacked like crazy too so no reason you can't enjoy them! Happy gamin brah!
So I have a question. I've had mine for half a month now and I've been mainly using Retrobat for my console games and haven't really felt the need to use Big Box for anything. Is there a any systems that seem to work more fluidly for Launch Box than in Retrobat? Or was it just set up for personal preference?
What I like about Launch Box above ES/RetroBat is the ability to add custom consoles. I can add Famicom by typing the name I want to use for the console, point it to a separate ROMs folder with Famicom games and tell it to scrape from there. AFAIK, you cannot do that in ES/RetroBat. Famicom and Super Famicom go into the NES/SNES folders respectively. Launchbox can get tricky when trying to keep size down of scrapped artwork. Makes no sense to have gigobytes of art work for a collection only a few hundred megobytes in size.
Hi, what budget mini pc would you recommend to buy to play everything on this? I would only use the mini pc to play the games on tv. Thanks in advance for the reply.
Something like this would be what I'd choose: amzn.to/4ceAK0X If you were okay with playing MOST stuff on here (but maybe the hardest PS3 and Xbox 360 games would not perform 100%) then this would be the choice: amzn.to/3A7uyuo
Hey Mr.Dweeb I love your videos, I’m looking for a pocketable handheld with some decent performance. Should I get a rg405m, rg cube, or do you think I should just wait for a new device? Thanks!

New sub here, I will buy this drive and please remember not everyone around the world has money to buy games, check out how much we can buy in Venezuela with 3 dollars as minium wage every month, sorry man but the world is harsh for many many people and games are luxury around here
This is tempting ... Does it have slow downs with it being an HDD and not an SSD ? Also, being european, i would like some story driven games to be available in my native language instead of english.
I'm glad that you at least commented on the system that shouldn't be on here because it's still a currently sold system. But for the same reason PS3 and Xbox 360 shouldn't Ruby on here either because those games are playable on the current systems as well. You can play tons of PS3 games through PlayStation now there are also lots of PS2 and PS1 and PSP games available on the PS4/5 so people have a very easy way of playing these games legally. Same for tons of Xbox 360 through backwards compatibility The only time I think emulation is okay is on systems that are not manufactured anymore to play games that cannot be played through any other means
I’ll need to research if it’s possible to get complete game library’s in other languages. It’s my preferred method of language study and I’d love a huge catalogue of games in Japanese and Russian to play
Hey TechDweeb, I plan on getting one of these this month. I really want it for the ROM collections which appear to be getting harder to find. I think you should contact Kinhank and ask them to send you one of these drives so you can do the following: Show everyone in a comprehensive tutorial that you can remove the Playnite stuff, and it will completely remove the viruses that most people are concerned about. I plan on using this on a dedicated PC that will not be hooked up to my network. After your tutorial you could give the drive away in a giveaway contest, like Retro game guy does. Hard to say. You may struggle with the harder to run PS3 and Xbox 360, but you might be fine. You're right on the edge for the high end stuff, but you'll be fine with everything from gamecube and earlier.
just purchased this would you mind helping me with a couple questions ?
Did yours ship out yet? It’s been 5 days so far nothing for me
@@weebmatic yeah bro, mine took the whole two weeks , 14 days. Dont be worried just gotta have a little patience. I will say, when you do have it you need to adjust a lot of the controllers but not all of them. And i recommend using retrobat to start most of ur games.
@@nassbeajj1094 okay cool! I just got a notification saying it’s shipping soon so fingers crossed it doesn’t take 2 weeks. And cool! Thanks for the heads up. I’m super excited to play these games😭🙏
@@nassbeajj1094 cool thanks bro! And quick question did your dhl shipping get stuck
Too? It’s been on the same thing for 9 days
I just got mine Monday. Two weeks.
I ordered this today! I can’t wait!
I too enjoy setting this stuff up and every once in awhile I erase it and do it all again but this is still highly inviting to me. I might just pick this up (using your link and code, of course).
I love this, I wish I could afford it to plug it in my compooper
I started out with the last hyperspin system and there was so many problems that I decided to make my own drive bought a La cia rugged five terabyte hard drive and now I have the perfect emulation setup for me. Now I still have my other 12 terabyte that I have wrong sets that I could put on my new one. But I didn't do it so there is an air of the accomplishment of setting your own up but I understand too when your first getting into it man it can be really stressful in the beginning.
It became really hard not to drop a like after you said you put 1 TB of images of my mom
How much of a difference between this build and the previous kinhank 12tb drive? Would the newer build be worth buying?
Can I use this with my 4-player cab? How to map the controls? I have an Arcade from Xtreme Gaming Cabinets.
Dweeb!
Worth noting Launchbox and hyperdrive need windows so you'll need a to use Emulation Station or another front end if you're penguin/fruit based
Is there a guide anywhere that shows you how to flash the last year 12 TB drive to run this new front end?
Picked up one of these to have copies of all the stuff I grew up with. I too could do without the switch and PC stuff. Wish I knew you reviewed the updated version, I would’ve used your promo code.
This is a good hardrive I have it this has all consoles and games 5 in 1 operating systems about $200-300 got this a while back
I use to use emulators over a decade ago but this seems like a good way to go about it now.
@@DovahZeuxhow’s this thing been treating you a month later? Played it a lot?
Compooper....nice!!!! keep rockin! 🤣 100% agree......hate pirated modern pc games that is not supporting the developers of the game.
Any of these preconfigured drives that would work with a Mac?
Turns out i drunkenly purchased either this or the previous version a month ago. Relieved about the malware being on the cracked stuff and will stick to the retro sections when i finally get to plug it into my mini pc!
Where is the amazon link for the updated version 12tb with retrobat?
Can’t find it on Amazon. Only aliexpress. It’s safe if that’s what you’re worried about. I’ve bought a few things from that website with no issues (long transit time though! 1 month+)
This looks super cool. I haven't purchased anything like this yet. Thinking about getting the powkiddy TV stick to see if I like something on the cheaper end first
My first dedicated retro system was the Anbernic RG353V it's a great little system Playstation, PSP, N64, and all the 8 and 16 bit stuff, convenient to have it all in my pocket add anything whatever I want as well. I'm now building a mini PC with everything upto PS3, Xbox360 and some Wii/WiiU games more Gamecube for Nintendo basically this but catered to my preferences eventually I'll try to get complete US collections of PS, PS2, XBOX, Xbox360 and Gamecube thats my top systems for now, I want to complete collections of NES, SNES, Gameboy, Genesis, 32X, CD, N64, gamegear, and some others.
Thanks for this great presentsrion, i build a 4 player arcade panler around I-pac 4, will this work on my pc, for multiplaer games ?
Hey Tech Dweeb! This device looks AWESOME! May you tell me what kind of computer I'd need for the high end stuff? My specs are Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU, 16GB ram, and an NVIDIA 2060.
I have a 4tb Retrobeast that makes good use of the 4tb space but it is a pain to setup when you change to an other pc. If i didn't have the the retrobeast i would have bought this.
Yeah I'm with ya there. Wish the RB was more plug-n-play.
@@TechDweeb I do also have the cassette thing called batocera that i keep as it has japanese games, especially the saturn jap games that appeal to me.
Hey @TechDweeb, love your content. Have you run any scans on this drive?
I'd love to know your process for checking them when you get them.
Yup. 11:29. Found several warnings, but they were all on the cracked PC games.
I really been seeing alot of videos but please answer me these questions
1. Does dlc come included with ps3 and xbox games?
2. Ive seen games that are missing from there can i add my own roms and boot it up?
Please answer me
1. Nope.
2. Yup.
Question. What date did you get your first nintendo? Store? City? Just you know....curious
Hi,
Can the retro shooter lightgun be used with this harddrive?
Thanks for the reply.
@@nightsquats Ok. Thanks.
My question is, what you with so many emulation drives. Do you keep them all or give them away?
I've given several away. Several of them I've converted into video storage for my projects. The best ones I keep and customize and use.
@@TechDweeb when’s the next giveaway. I been looking buy one
I ordered this today
Luckily I ordered this new version
Have they sent you any updates on your order at all?
I don't have a pc, can you recommend something like this but plug and play to tv?
This is what I'd suggest: ua-cam.com/video/TV771bTYoi8/v-deo.html
Do you think the original ROG Ally would have enough power to run the higher end systems on this drive?
Yup!
You mentioned the gmtec k8, Would a K6 be good enough to run ps3 and Xbox 360 stuff?
Yup! The performance on the k6 will be almost the same as the k8.
Pics and video of your mom 😂😂😂😂😂
You got a subscription
I like the look of launch box but i really like playnite. That's what i use for my emulation frontend
Hi, what budget mini pc would you recommend to buy to play everything on this? I would only use the mini pc to play the games on tv. Thanks in advance for the reply.
Something like this would be what I'd choose: amzn.to/4ceAK0X
If you were okay with playing MOST stuff on here (but maybe the hardest PS3 and Xbox 360 games would not perform 100%) then this would be the choice: amzn.to/3A7uyuo
@@TechDweeb Thanks.
These 5 in 1 newer versions are also selling on AliExpress for around $185. Is there a reason they are not linked to? Am I missing something?
Amazon is more expensive they take out percentage so they have to higher the price to make up the difference
Whats the best controller to use? I plan to buy mini pc to play in tv
Hey Mr.Dweeb I love your videos, I’m looking for a pocketable handheld with some decent performance. Should I get a rg405m, rg cube, or do you think I should just wait for a new device? Thanks!
I have a question. At 13:04 you mention another video where you show the process of adding roms to frontends, but I am not seeing a link. What is the video called?
Here ya go! ua-cam.com/video/MvW_rNK3LLM/v-deo.html
@@TechDweeb Thank you very much!
I am getting this one. I don't have anything to run it but getting a PC will be a possibility for seemingly ever but I worry a drive like this won't always be available.... I'm at least gonna keep Elden Ring 😅👍
Ok...but where do I get one of these compooper's?
Being a pirate/preservationist means having a whole setup dedicated to holding and seeding all forms of media. Almost 19 years old and I'm seeding 20.8T of media and counting.
(KNOCK KNOCK!!)
uh-oh 🤣
@@MrViral20 well i don't think the government cares much about abandoned ware games and almost lost media being free on the internet.
@@Reddison
Tis be facts....I made my own library using Retrobat front end.....love it, 512gbs of gaming goodness and it took me a while to set up too to make sure the games work, no missing BIOS either, idk how I managed to do that, finding the correct BIOS set was difficult to be sure....scraped the games and all....boy it took a while but it was sooooo worth it.....and Retrobat is the best because I dont have to boot in to an OS just to play games, it's a simple program double click and play....
@@Reddison But Nintendo does.
Keep sailing the 7 seas matey.
Love the way you say compooper
Sword of Convallaria is _very_ pretty!
New sub here, I will buy this drive and please remember not everyone around the world has money to buy games, check out how much we can buy in Venezuela with 3 dollars as minium wage every month, sorry man but the world is harsh for many many people and games are luxury around here
Is there support for retroachievements? Need to have those dopamine spikes :-)
Ali express, ordered it for the equivalent of $190, pretty good.
Is there a way to put everything back into hyperspin? I kinda liked the setup better
This is tempting ...
Does it have slow downs with it being an HDD and not an SSD ?
Also, being european, i would like some story driven games to be available in my native language instead of english.
Just got it, great deal! thanks!!
How long does the coupon last thinking about getting it next month
I watched that end bit several times, poor Wall-e but it was hilarious lol
Thanks to your video I bought this great hard drive but I received the previous version with errors and customer service doesn't respond to me :'(
I'm glad that you at least commented on the system that shouldn't be on here because it's still a currently sold system.
Same for tons of Xbox 360 through backwards compatibility The only time I think emulation is okay is on systems that are not manufactured anymore to play games that cannot be played through any other means
yeah, but when your consoles start getting the RLOD or YLOD then you are just stuck with a bunch of beverage coasters.
@@joemopar2716lol! Remember the Xbox 360 “just put in the freezer bro”
What do you plan to fill the 1TB of space with?
BTW loved your guest appearance on his show. I wasn't the only one either. There were people in his recent chat session who were really sad they missed it. Anyway, great review, and yes I will be removing Playnite.
The pc files aren’t viruses they are false positive cracks.
@@peterstaklis3712 I see, but I believe that most people are freaked out, because they are picked up as viruses by anti virus software. I hope that makes sense.
Hey techdweeb I got a berlink ser 6 max with a ryzen 9 6900hx, will I be able to run some higher end stuffz? Thus druve looks better then the last one, the new ui is so clean
Yup! You should be good for almost everything on this drive. MAYBE the hardest to run PS3 and 360 games will give you some trouble, but I doubt it.
@@TechDweeb thx Mr.Dweeb🖐👍
