Welcome to my new series: Navigating Your 30s! In this first episode, we talk about how much money you should have saved by age and how I think it's BS. There's another amount you should pay attention to instead and I share how to get there in this video.

I was born in 1990 and definitely don’t have $100k saved, but I’m working on it!

I’m not near my annual salary saved, and feel so far behind, but I am working on getting rid of debt each and every day.

Don’t feel behind or bad! It’s called Personal Finances for a reason.
You can’t compare yourself to the next person. You can only do your best and move forward!

Hi Justine! I am 33 and currently working to get out of debt. I started saving on a HYSA after you personally advice me to do so on a comment!
I am nowhere near to be where I should be by my age but I’ve done great progress with my debt pay off and once I am debt free I am going to fully focus on building savings and maxing out my ROTH.
Thank you for the valuable information you put out! ❤

Oh man, I saw this title and was all set to get in the comments and rail against how dumb this "how much you should have saved" stuff is, but you did it for me. Thank you! Nice to know I'm watching the right channel.

I am 36 and about on par for savings goals but I stepped up savings heavily in the last year. For the last 10 or so years I had been doing a 6% match that is part of a pension plan. I added to those contributions roughly 40-50% of my income as investments in addition driving myself to try to build up a good start to my retirement planning I hope to have sort of a short term of 3 years of investing hard and then reassess life goals and objectives at that point but I plan to keep a fairly strong investing core. So far using a combination of 457a/b, Roth IRA, and Pension investments.

Debt free house and everything. Started investing when I was in my 20s. Glad for that compound interest. Very important

    4% = rule of 25. Annual expenses divided by 0.04 is equal annual expenses times 25. 4/100 = 1/25.

That's an impressive salary growth going from your 20's to your 30's but it's sad to say that isn't applicable to many individuals who for whatever reason never got a chance to go for an opportunity like that.

I do think it's possible that my situation can be applied to a ton of people. Opportunity creates open doors all the time. It's up to the individual whether or not to walk through it. Had I not worked past my fears of starting my own career and pivoting completely away from corporate, I wouldn't be where I am today.

Just be rich that's pretty much what she saying I think about 5 or 8 times our yearly salary would be in the millions for most of us

??? No, the median income is well below 100k even in the US

Saving twice your annual income on a timespan of one decade comes down to 20% overall savings rate. Should be easier for high income earners than low income
