A friend gave me 2 of those 120 watt panels but no cables, I saw they make a connector to run both together that I will order soon, but what do you recommend for a system maybe one step down from the Apex price range, and which connector will I need to connect panels to system you recommend? TIA
Wow. Your driveway and house, garage and overhead deck look almost exactly like the house where I used to live in Monument CO from 1987-1991. When I was much younger. Thanks for the info. I’m getting one of the Inergy Apex models as we speak with 500 watts of flexible solar panels. I’m hoping it’s great. I’ve heard nothing but great reviews. Some don’t like them because they use proprietary items. However, I watched Jehu Garcia’s YT channel on building an equivalent power storage box... ...and it made this look like a great deal. Thanks. MM
My hat is off to you, you cut out the annoying advertisements, and got back to your genuine over landing content. Oh wait this is one big advertisement,
Haha no shame with the Forester! Watch the head gasket and they are great rigs. My wife and I run with 4Runner/outback combo. Long trips with little off-road, Subaru is the way to go! If more aggressive off road, 4Runner it is! So many people run aggressive off road rigs but rarely take them off pavement. Nothing wrong with that at all but don’t throw shame on people running less capable rigs but do more with them! I love how you have no elitist mentality!
Couple comments on the Kodiak and Apex models...both have a lithium battery inside and you can daisy chain extra batteries on both for extra capacity but, the older Kodiak model can only pair up with sealed AGM batteries, while the newer Apex can handle linking with lithiums. Second...when car charging through the cigarette lighter 12V plug, you have to make sure your vehicle is wired for a 20A circuit there...most vehicles are 15A through the cigarette jack, so some rewiring might be necessary to be completely safe and compliant with the recommendations of the manufacturer.
Jeezus, the Apex is expensive! MSRP $2,000, $1,755.99 while on sale right now. At 90 Ah you could do a 100Ah LiFePO4 and 1500 W inverter for approx $1000 which is still a lot. Or Maybe a Honda EU2200i genny and smaller power set up. Love the form factor just like the Jackery batteries but you pay a premium for everything tucked in nicely over a DIY job. The powerfilm is also the best solar and Amorphous is the best if you camp in the woods. Don't need to go 120 bc a 30W will outperform a 100W monocrystalline with obstruction. 10% surface area coverage: Mono operates at 10% while a Amorphous will operate at 90%. I use my ham radio LiFePO4 30 Ah to charge electronics with a small 300W pure sine inverter to charge mainly for phone and laptop along with emcom mobile ops.
The pre-sale (discount) for the Inergy Apex ends in a day. Code "LLOD" DOES stack to save an additional 20% - inergytek.com With the code it brings it to $1300 - down from $2000 normal price.
@@LastLineOfDefense You're absolutely right, an iPhone is nowhere near the worth of $ 1.200,00 more like $ 150,00 considering the hardware and functionality you get ;)
@@darinr5591 its a 1.1kw lifepo4 battery, a BMS, a 40 amp mppt, a 1.5kw pure sine wave inverter, a 5v buck converter, a 110v battery charger, and a shunt. Actually. Considering a 1kw lifepo4 battery costs $1k in the US, its a great deal. You could build this yourself. Buy the cells, solder a BMS, and buy the components and stick them in a box... It would probably cost about $600 - $700.
Thanks for introducing this product! I was just looking for spam thing that is compact and light weight and you've just answered my question. Now I will have to do further research in regards to: Will the battery power overheat whenever it is dispersing power? Can the battery power pack be use at the same time during its charge? How long will it take to fully charge from empty? What is the warranty for both solar blanket and power pack? Can it be use to charge secondary auxiliary battery such as like the one that you have in your Tacoma? Etc... Thanks again!
That 'solar generator' system looks awesome, but I always wonder how much noise it will generate on the ham bands. Inverters in general usually generate a ton of noise in the HF part of the spectrum. Still useful, but I'd be turning it off anytime I have the radio on, which is a lot.
I like the forester Mike. I love that you put a camper on the roof. As far as energy, I run a paxxess 50 watt folding solar panel with 2 100 watt batteries (I only take 1 camping). They charge up fast even with overcast skies. Its a lot of power for just me and my wife. I want a readylite for solar/light, have you tried them?
I've toyed with the readylites, they're pretty cool for sure. Kind of bulky for what they are, but a cool light for sure - especially if you're going to setup and be in a location for a few days.
Good video for what is clearly a top level system for a power setup. But I did have to rewatch a second time after I found the $2500-3000 price. Bit like comparing your taco setup (which is great!) to an EarthRoamer. But still interesting to see what is available at the top end. But as others have mentioned, the battery technology alone is over $1000. And it has been proven to be fantastic. But compared to the high priced units in the 200-400Whr range, this one 1100Whr!!!) is actually a pretty good value. IF you need this much power in the woods.....
Great video man, I love this type of stuff. I don't have the money for this kind of baller equipment but love to learn about it. You're lucky to get a ton of it haha. Keep up the great work

Our foldables are not waterproof. If you were caught in a downpour the panel wouldn't be ruined, but you would need to dry it out completely. Moisture and solar do not play nicely together :)
@@CroakerOutdoorsyou're absolutely right. It's all about the power/weight ration of the product and the low-light/obstructed performance. Over the course of a full day, it's surprising how much better amorphous can perform when compared to larger crystalline panels.

These car plug type of heated blankets do not work. 50 watts or like, spread over 20s.f. of the blanket surface gets you no heat. This is how physics work. Compare that to a AC plugged small heating pad that takes anywhere from 500 watts to 1.5 KW having 10 times smaller surface. Just get a thick wool blanket.
