- In this video, I share with you my experience with the break-in service on my G80 M3. This service is required for G80 and G82 M cars and from this process, I learned quite a lot.

I knew the only thing that would change after my break-in service I had two weeks ago is how often I would floor it. My prediction was correct. All the time.
Awesome Video! I hope to see more from you. You are very articulate and I can tell you are very knowledgeable. Thanks!
Keep dropping those knowledge gems! 💯
Of course! Thank you!
Break-in Service is very important for any performance car, even if the manufacturer doesn’t specify it. Oil changes under 1500 miles is crucial. I’m not expecting the performance to change, other than the fact that I will be able to take it over 4,000 RPM.
You make great videos man keep it up.
Thank you my man!
Great topic to deep dive man! I learned a lot, trust, but verify man!
Glad it was helpful!
Congratulations on the car! So excited to hear you are going to be tuning your baby! Looking forward to learning from you, order placed for my own manual base g80. Ive seen upgraded clutches recommended for the added power, thoughts?
I got a G82 M4 and been watching your G8x videos. I was shocked when I saw that you went to Norwood lmao, thats the exact same dealer I go to.
Oh yeah man! Max Caso was my salesmen - awesome guy!
I had a G82 and I was not able to do launch control until after the break in service
So I also wondered what they did for the Break in Service. I am currently waiting for my service to be completed on my M5 as I write this. I did ask the head service manager what they did for this service. You are correct that they change the oil and the differential. The one thing that people do not realize is that once they click off the service message in the vehicles code, it it suppose to unlock the the rest of the horsepower that was being held back until the service. That is how it was just described to me. So other than the oil and differential being changed, the full horsepower potential is unlocked as well. I will let you know in about 2 hours when I am able to test out the M5 and see if what they told me is true.
Hey John, how does it feel after the break-in service of your M5? My M5 still has 500 miles to go, but I am quite interested in the difference. Thank you so much.
@@shiweilin4344 so I spoke to the bmw technician and he told me that not only is it an oil change but they have to change the computer ( code ) in the car to unlock the extra horsepower. To me it definitely felt more responsive with more power. I also did not drive it fast before the break in service and I followed BMW’s driving recommendations. So I guess I can say that I did feel more acceleration after the service. Either way, the M5 is a beast and I am so happy I purchased it.
@@johnpolchinski4592 Thanks a lot John!
Launch control is not enabled prior to 1200
I mean isnt the payoff of the break in that you can finally rev it all out?
I like you, we think the same. You got my subscription lol
It’s also the type of oil that BMW uses during the break in procedure. It’s not designed to protect the engine at high RPM. BMW does code the car after break in is complete. I think it unlocks a few horsepower, but you wouldn’t really feel it
You're right, it unlocks launch control and boost PSI.
ordered mine last week... now to play the waiting game! awesome vid man!
The journey is real. 7 months. Picked up today.
@@chitterlingsrtasty congrats man! can't wait
Congrats!! Mine rolled off the production line 2-weeks ago and it’s on a boat headed across the Atlantic, the waiting game is hopefully coming to a close.
What specs did you get?
@@FreshlySnipes I went portamio with silverstone/ carbon fiber.
@@untitledlabel dope! I did something similar, Portimao Blue w/ Fjord interior & Carbon Fiber. I love an M sedan in blue. Nothing better 👌🏽
If it’s a 4wd don’t you need to change the oil in the front diff too?
I have a RWD M3, only for the X-Drive Models
Was that a burp @ the end?
Just purchased a G80 Comp, and spoke with the BMW tech that works on my F82. He said the G80/2 is detuned prior to break-in service and does not have launch control, but at the 1200 mile service, launch control with an additional 5 PSI will be added, so...yes, it will be faster; rather you feel the additional 5 PSI is a different conversation.
Did you pay for the break in service?
No you don’t have to pay
Bought my M4 yesterday, dealer tried to tel me it had 150hp and torque less before break in....
Don't know about the 150 less HP, but the PSI boost is about 5 PSI less than it will be after the break-in service.
My dealer said it unlocks launch control and a slight raise in hp, 20-25 hp
Oil and diff only
get a Porsche! Launch on day one off the lot with 5 miles on the OD
Porsche are more money and not that fun unless it’s a gt4 but……
