I went to a few Grand Seiko in Japan and each person I spoke with was passionate and actually asked me how I knew so much, I said Teddy from youtube. He is a wealth of knowledge. Thank you Teddy for these deep dives
Teddy, you’ve become one hell of a video producer. From camera work to lighting to B roll footage to video structure, these videos are just incredible regardless of topic. I imagine your retention in your videos is higher than average - I just get drawn deep into each video
If I had all the money in the world and I could buy one watch to admire for the rest of my life, it would be this watch. The engineering behind making this watch, the concept brought to life, the "heartbeat" it makes, the materials used, the stunning industrial look that captures the elegance of this engineering marvel... it's the perfect be-all and end-all of watches for me.
Seiko has push time keeping to the next level. Swiss have only engravings with gold or platinum. Most accurate watches across the board. Rolex over hyped only living off the name and dealers are crooks helping the gray market. If Seiko ever wanted to dumb down and follow the Swiss they could easily but that’s not the mission. Keep pushing the envelope of time keeping. My pick for watch of the Century period , how about one with Spring Drive?
@@lotterynj Agreed as time goes by I realize I lose respect for Rolex more and more and gain more and more respect for Seiko and Grand Seikos teams. They are PURE passion, and haute to the next level without the silly supply demand games.
Absolutely LOVED this video. I fell in love with the Kodo on the first glance, but that love was only further cemented by the ticking. It’s basically the wristwatch version of the Lexus LFA.
As a Japanese watch collector, I couldn't be more proud of seiko/GS.what a watch, what a brand, and this video is beyond amazing in its quality and passion.
The watch is great, but it was truly elevated by the words of it's designers and the fantastic production of the video, a very subtle elegant and classy video.
I haven’t I haven’t owned or worn a watch in almost 40 years. I had a Casio when I was like 8 years old. But, I loved every minute of this video and I’m kind of obsessed with Grand Seiko watches.
Merry Christmas Teddy Baldassaree, Love this video, I had the Great pleasure of Actually Putting this masterpiece on my Wrist when I was at Teddy’s Shop back in May. It’s absolutely Stunning in Person. Thank you for all you do for us!
I know enough about micro engineered metal work to say the Kodo is a 21st century mechanical masterpiece. It is something that will be talked about hundreds of years from now. Beautifully done, and incredibly well designed.
Such amazing pieces. I love at the end how he was describing the play of light and shadow and how that subtlety changed the second watch by leaving some slightly darker components. Paraphrasing but the change from dark to light is not a harsh change. That is brilliant artistry and design marrying to perfection.
Truly amazing things happen when passionate artisans get together and want to make something that is 'their best' work. And a union between engineers and designers is one of the toughest to achieve out there. Too often, egos get in the way. I'm sure some of that was involved to some degree with the development of Kodo. We're humans. And if we're passionate about something, it's going to happen. But if you work together to acknowledge that and move past it..... Well done Grand Seiko. Well done.
It's funny, but that's THE watch I saw a random ad for that wowed me so much that I stumbled on my very first Teddy and Mr Wonderful video and been hooked on watches ever since. I had never been into watches until then.
GS is KING! Superior craftsmanship and technical innovation at every level compared to all top brands. You simply cannot deny this from all the factual historical evidence that real true enthusiasts understand. Period!
I need this. Thanks this is on the list now! Great video Teddy and team, and ofc Team Seiko. I know so many are blinded by the Swizz marketing and while their watch making surely is marvels in many ways by their own rights, for me no one on earth fusses aesthetics, precision mechanics and innovation to the level of Seiko, and I mean no one.
Not so fast, Teddy. There's another, "Greatest Watch Of All Time To Come Out Of Japan." It's an altogether different kind of watch, encompassing cutting-edge engineering, physics, and chemistry. That watch is the... Citizen 0100.
I just went to the Ginza shop. Bought a shunbun, they had one last piece that late afternoon. Lucky me. Saya san sold me the watch and I talked for a long time with a young Japanese sales person in charge of North America, guess his name was Ruum. We talked about this channel and how I came to like grand Seiko and the spring drive . Finally got one and thanks to Teddy
This is an amazing interview Teddy, congratulations. You show your difference by making such high quality content. Your questions are very good by the way👍
Wow! First time seeing this timepiece. I’ve been seeing some GS’s around and they are starting to peak my interest. This is a beautiful industrious looking watch.
Of all the watches I've ever seen this one would be my grail. Simply astounding beauty, form and function. If I had one though I would never be able to tell the time. very time I would look at the watch I wouldn't be able to get past that constant force Turbillon and the sound that emanates.
I know watches are made to be worn, but this one I would put in a case and hang on a wall (and wear occasionaly just to admire it 😆). Quite literally a piece of art 🖼.
The Kodo is awesome! But Teddy, I have a question? Is or is not the Ball Watch one of the greatest values in the market today? Just watched this video on the finest Grand Seiko available. What an amazing piece of watch craftsmanship.
This is a halo watch that has earned it's price tag. Teddy, you should have asked what watches these two gentlemen were wearing as I would assume they could have any Grand Seiko they wanted.
Thanks for this Teddy: whether or not you like it (and it appears that opinion is divided) it is an engineering and horological masterpiece. I would really like one for the record... and the money to buy it! Happy Christmas guys. 🍾🥂
I saw a watch in the seiko shop in Sydney Australia. The watch looked nice but not out standing. I thought it was $2400 and i asked if i could get it cheaper for a cash sale. The guy looked at me and said its $24,000 sir. I laughed. he said we dont sell watches for $2400 in this shop you need to go to the other Seiko shop. The Spring drive Chrono is the one i want but not at $10,000, i will continue to ware my $70 Casio Marlin,s and my old SKX orange Seiko.
Unfortunately, the "GS" and Grand Seiko" logos on the Kodo use clashing fonts. There's also no reason to repeat Grand Seiko twice on the dial. Use the "GS" logo or the "Grand Seiko" logo but not both. I prefer the Grand Seiko logo from the 1960s. My complaint might sound trivial but, especially with horology, "Every Detail Matters."

I met Nicholas Cage in there.
I'm Batman
@Bryanpeacock33 i dont know y.... BUT I BELIEVE YOU BRO🥹

Thank you so much, my friend! I also have to give major kudos to our team for helping. It is much more than me that makes videos like this happen.

What's fascinating to me too is how Grand Seiko created an altogether different kind of masterpiece with the Credor Eichi II.
I agree.

This is the ultimate in watch making. It is incredible what goes in to builds like this. The Japanese strive for perfection, and it sure shows.

Love this channel, have a great Christmas
Merry Christmas to you as well! Thanks for the support.
The watch is great, but it was truly elevated by the words of it's designers and the fantastic production of the video, a very subtle elegant and classy video.
Keep your VC's, keep your RM's, keep your AP's. I'd take the Kodo any day of the week! GS is crazy for making this!

Thank you for the support, my friend! Glad you were able to join us for the event. More to come in the future. Merry Christmas.
Ted, this interview is just awesome, and I salute you that you can do interview these great watchmakers!
I know enough about micro engineered metal work to say the Kodo is a 21st century mechanical masterpiece. It is something that will be talked about hundreds of years from now. Beautifully done, and incredibly well designed.
The Kodo reminds me of why I first fell in love with fine watchmaking! Thanks!

Well done Grand Seiko. Well done.
Such a work of art. Thanks for this video Teddy. Felt like I got to experience the watch.
Didn’t want this one to end
Only $350k! A literal work of art!! ❤️
Teddy’s positive impact on Grand Seiko is comparable to Nico’s negative influence on Hublot
I think its fair to say Teddy is now one of the biggest profile brand ambassadors for GS now
@@edkwon not one .. he is the biggest
😂😂😂
You guys forget another dude, Watchfinder
Thank you Teddy for bringing us this magic, wonderful product, extremely passionate team here.
If I were to try to explain a symphony for those who could not hear, I would show them this watch.
It's funny, but that's THE watch I saw a random ad for that wowed me so much that I stumbled on my very first Teddy and Mr Wonderful video and been hooked on watches ever since. I had never been into watches until then.

Incredible people who created an incredible watch…. As I watched this video I am wearing my “Night Birch”. Another GS awesome piece. Thank you Teddy!
9:02 Shuriken style gears 🥷
I need this. Thanks this is on the list now! Great video Teddy and team, and ofc Team Seiko.

So fascinating! - Love these visits to watchmakers around the world.
Incorporating a specific rhythm into the movement itself is just a thing of absolute genius
Beautiful video teddy! It only makes sense that Grand Seiko would choose the person that champions them most to release a video for its debut
Wow! First time seeing this timepiece. I’ve been seeing some GS’s around and they are starting to peak my interest. This is a beautiful industrious looking watch.
This watch is the single perfect embodiment of the underlying spirit and passion behind mechanical watches and watchmaking.
This is a true grail watch. I hope one day before I die i can grab this and add it to my collection.
Of all the watches I've ever seen this one would be my grail. Simply astounding beauty, form and function. If I had one though I would never be able to tell the time. very time I would look at the watch I wouldn't be able to get past that constant force Turbillon and the sound that emanates.
I can’t help think bel canto when I see the hand layout on this 🤔 no doubt it will be an awesome piece 👍
Thats master level Workmanship.
This is a holy grail watch. Amazing in every regard.
what a beautiful piece
Remarkable and simply stunning.
Never in my wildest dream did I ever expect a mechanical watch to imitate the the second hand motion of a quartz watch! 😲
I'm amazed that they were able to provide a power reserve indicator in a constant torque watch.
Brilliant. Ur channel deserve more
I know watches are made to be worn, but this one I would put in a case and hang on a wall (and wear occasionaly just to admire it 😆). Quite literally a piece of art 🖼.
The sapphires are definitely a nice touch.
The most beautiful watch I've ever seen

Beautiful watch. As great as the footage is, i gues you need to see it in the flesh to really appreciate it.
bloody stunner of a watch that
Master piece ❤
Always my favorite brand
Wearing my SBGW287 Boshu while watching this! Would love a review of this model.
This is a halo watch that has earned it's price tag.
Teddy, you should have asked what watches these two gentlemen were wearing as I would assume they could have any Grand Seiko they wanted.
Fantastic content about a fantastic watch.
the best looking watch ever !!!
Grand Seiko!
Thanks for this Teddy: whether or not you like it (and it appears that opinion is divided) it is an engineering and horological masterpiece. I would really like one for the record... and the money to buy it! Happy Christmas guys. 🍾🥂
I would love to see a similar video on the Lederer Triple Observatory Chronometer. That is even more accurate!
I do love this watch. Wish I could afford one. If it was 41mm.. chefs kiss.
Best ring I have ever seen
Stunning...
Im not a big fan of skeletonized watches. But this is beautiful.
now this is worth the money!
Pop Quiz - 10:17 what is the make and model of the watch which he is wearing ?
Good video
I don't have enough kidneys for this...
Grand Seiko need mechanical sub 37mm options asap in their current catalogue!
Only Teddy could have done this
This is my grail watch!
10:17-ish what is the designer himself wearing as a watch? Seiko Skyliner? Marvel??
I’ll be content with a Kodo watch App and wallpaper for my phone … for Christmas please 😊Domo Arigato !
I saw a watch in the seiko shop in Sydney Australia. The watch looked nice but not out standing. I thought it was $2400 and i asked if i could get it cheaper for a cash sale.

shit, that's some insane craftsmanship. If only they put 1/100th of this passion behind their lower Seiko tier.
The more passion and time to make, the more you pay.
That’s gorgeous
Magnificent.
Wowww que hermosura de movimiento….. wowwww what a beautiful movement. Congrats to Seiko and Teddy
I really like the sobriety of Grand Seiko Watches. You won't see any Rainbow bezel or Tiger Eye dial versions of their watches.
True that. But have you seen the SBGA405? That's a pretty sober Godzilla, I guess.
This is my ‘money no object’ watch for sure…and it’s 100m water resistant!
Cant wait for the dub to come out
when is grand seiko getting a chime/bell within their watch
Coolest skeleton watch I ever seen!
Would love to know what watches ishihara-san and kawauchiya-san wear 😄
Unfortunately, the "GS" and Grand Seiko" logos on the Kodo use clashing fonts. There's also no reason to repeat Grand Seiko twice on the dial. I am waiting for the annual UA-camr compilation video.
I do wonder why they didn't employ the Spring Drive for their flagship timepiece.
This is the one.
That watch is just a master piece, need a morgatge for the watch 😂
'ITS ALIVE'
French, German and Swiss were already making tourbillon watch for decades
How many are made?
I can only imagine servicing that.
GS!!!
Where's the first part?
This watch is similar to tgv urban gentry watch video last week
I want one
holy grail of a watch, if only i could win a lottery
Wow, what a beautiful piece. I need one. 🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍
Can anyone who knows engineering behind watches confirm whether a tourbillion movement is more sophisticated than a low budget car's engine??
Bruh...the price is like my house market values 💀
