    YES! Adequate bike storage + bike infrastructure (fully separated bike paths,) are such crucial aspects in moving a lot of people to a train station, which I think is overlooked by other councils in other parts of the city. Given the already pretty decent cycling infrastructure in the city of Sydney (council), I hope this metro line further incentivizes the councils to keep expanding their cycling networks and connect them to stations! I just hope this trend follows onto the northwest part of the metro, and other major train station hubs in Sydney, as stations like Talawong face parking issues due to a lack of parking spaces, especially during peak times, having at least some sort of coherent cycling network in every major transport hub in the city would truly be amazing.

      Agreed, I'm seeing tonnes of people complaining that the car parks in the northwest part of the line are getting full now that the City extension is open but then you look at what was done to connect the line to good cycling infrastructure there and it is just woeful, hardly Sydney Metros fault though. It is so important that cycling finally recieves the prioritisation it deserves in Sydney. With Oxford Street cycleway, new separated cycling infrastructure on Castlereagh St, a few other gaps being plugged like King St in the city, the Harbour Bridge cycle ramp at Milsons Point, the Inner West greenway all coming it could be a big leap forwards in the coming 1-2 years. Now they just need to eventually get Parramatta Road cycleway open as that is such a critical corridor, whenever they finally bite the bullet on Parra Rd modernisation.

    Mate thankyou SO MUCH for doing a good job of also explaining the cycling connections even if you didn't go into it too much, would love to see some videos of Sydney's cycling infrastructure and future plans from you! I love your videos I have said before I think you do the best job with the best research of any of the Sydney transit youtubers.

    Best vid so far on the new Metro. The others have too much guff and too many talking heads and jerky camera movements

    10 minute wait times on the weekend are a joke. In every other major city the peak times are the same on weekdays and weekends

    Thirty seconds is awfully quick. That's not much time for people to get on & off the train, especially if you're disabled or elderly.

      @ziggybadans 4 місяці тому

      The train won't take off if it detects people still in the doorway, the 30 seconds is just the default time. It's also longer than it seems, especially because it's single deck and it gives adequate warning before coming up to a station.

      Thirty seconds is plenty most of the time. Bear in mind there are more doors and wheelchair bays are right next to the doors etc.

      @@ziggybadans I understand all that. At the moment, the design feels ableist because moving speed for the able bodied is quicker than the disabled. Not just those on wheelchairs.
      People like myself are slowed down by movement disorders. Sometimes my pace slows right down, and navigating through able bodied people can be a nightmare as they often push through the disabled, try to push the disabled over to step over, etc.
      This is where I'm coming from.
