I’m a flames fan (hear me out),
It didn’t matter who won the battle of Alberta, both teams were getting swept and the better team won both rounds.
1 - The Colorado avalanche are scary good and better every year.
2 - I have to say, mike smith has the worst positioning of any goalie in the league, I can say that being a flames fan. Just look at the score of every game since the playoffs began, he let in 4 goals a game on average, which truly shows how much heart the first two lines of Edmonton showed.
3 - The defensive core of Edmonton made bush league mistakes at least for 3 massive scoring chances a game. Even though Kassian scored a crucial goal tonight, imagine what you could have with a young, strong defender in his place. His style of play is being outlasted overall. The worst part is you could put him on waivers and no one will pick him up.
It’s a hard truth but I think it’s time to get really serious with the structure of this team because they are really explosive. Don’t hang your heads Edmonton, you guys are for real - for sure!

Edmonton needs a team defense emphasis like Barry Trotz brought to the Islanders when he tookover. The Isles were last in the league in defense when he took over and have been a top defensive team for his entire tenure. Oilers team defense - not necessarily the personnel - but the team defensive schematic is not Cup ready. The issue needs top priority and 100% full commitment. They cannot hold leads against top teams. Personnel don't seem to know how to play to keep leads.

Also the panthers were a more productive offense than Colorado this season and got swept by Tampa. Better Team definitely won. I know how the Flames felt now with the constant waves of the oilers speed and offense coming at them, the speed and mobility of the oilers defense getting the puck out and up and behind the Flames defense right away. The score and they come right back.
Avs were simply faster, defense even more mobile. A little more depth. Congrats to the Avs. Take it all the way and get that Cup. You have the speed and skill to do it.

See, you're the reason I wanted the Oilers to maybe get a game in Edmonton so the fans could celebrate one, but then I read further down and everybody else is swearing up and down that the refs determined the series, and blah blah blah. Thanks for being a good sport and acknowledging what actually happened. You deserve better.

@@mrjupiter80 Don't mind them, most of the Real hockey fans that can appreciate talent and know the game know the truth. There's always some that jump on the bandwagon come playoffs that scream "We're winning the cup!" And then blame refs or make excuses for why it didn't happen. Unfortunately they're usually the loudest ones. Don't let them influence your opinion of REAL oiler fans.

Mike Smith and couple defenders: Nurse and Cesi are liable for most of the goals in Oilers net during past 4 games)) Hyman should play with McDavid and Draisaitl.

I know hockey fans don’t celebrate it but a trophy is a trophy and there’s only 3 obtainable every year. Colorado’s first trophy since the early 2000’s. You won the conference and it should be recognized. After following so much Premier League, you realize how valuable each trophy is and that feeling of winning one.

Yes there’s more Canadian players on about every team. I think that’s just a go to to ignore the pain that if you’re Canadian most likely your team hasn’t won the cup in 3 decades. That’s horrible, but I don’t blame Canadians for trying to deflect their pain
