  • Alchemists is a board game that I had never heard of before two weeks ago. I gave it a try and it has become one of my favorite board games new to me this year. If you love Alchemists or plan to try it in the future (or if you passionately hate it I guess) please talk to me about it in the comments!
If you plan to buy Alchemists, use this link. It helps a lot! amzn.to/3Asl4Ge

One of the things I like is that it also rates, very loosely, to particle physics. Hadrons (like protons and neutrons) are made of three quarks. Quarks come in three colours, blue, red and green. All three colours make up a hadron, just like the ingredients in the game. You get anti quarks as well which have a negative charge. So although only a small link, the game does nicely tie in to real particles.

Just found this channel. Awesome editing and production. It's wild you don't have 10's or even 100's of thousands of subs. New sub here for sure!

Nice blind purchase! I very much lean towards thematic games and I'm especially a sucker for deduction games, so this one has been on my radar since it came out in 2014 (though I've never gotten around to trying it).

Great video, I loved the editing and the personality with the costumes and such. I bought the game and the expansion used over a year ago, and I am looking to finally bring the base game to the table next week. I'm a bit scared about the learning process but optimistic, as I think I will enjoy the game. With how many players do you usually play this or recommend it to be played with?

My waifu love this game and wished the Golem expansion for Christmas. She got it, we have play it, it's amazing! We were worried about added depth to the game, but its absolutely fine. Library could be handy and new way to publish is easier. Successful summon of the golem is a great feel.
This video is great and the cosplay and flasks are so fitting to the theme. Good job. Where did you buy the flasks? You had a lot of fun to make the fluids, hadnt you? :)

Yes! This has been on my personal top 10 for the last six years. It can be a steep learning curve, and might be a little long for some, but it's sooo worth it! I love the logic puzzle aspect about it, but it's also important to note that it's not the whole game, and figuring out all the ingredients by no means ensures you'll win. (In fact, you probably won't, as you've squandered your actions on deductions rather than earning points)

I loved that. The balance between showing off and actually knowing stuff is my favorite part.

Terrific game, really enjoy it. Would recommend as a two or three player game. Four player version feels like you don't get enough moves to work with, but I do enjoy the sudoko-esque method of figuring out the alchemical compositions.

Looks very cool, decided take a look at the author since from the name i deducted he's Czech or Slovak. Turned out to be Czech programmer, so that explains a lot about the way it works :D
By the way do you need to use the app to play the game? Or can it be played without it?

You can use a game master but you need at least one extra person to play as game master

I have never heard of this game but it sounds hilarious! I feel even if you lose you'd have a really funny story to tell. Those poor peasants.

This game sounds really cool. I’m hesitant to pick up games with a heavy learning curve. That happened with Arkham Horror. We still haven’t played it because we haven’t had time to sit down for an hour just to learn it lol.

The logic puzzle is a whole other component to learn on top of the worker placement game.
But... if you are very familiar with worker placement games then that helps a lot since that is half the game already.

Always wondered about this game when passing it at store but somehow this is first video about it i checked.
Random thought - green and red ingredients are bit problematic design with colorblind players.

    • @AliRisdal
      @AliRisdal  2 роки тому

That's a good point. Every time you mix a potion wirh the app you have to show everyone else what you get. I suppose they could tell you the color but you would need a whole different personal tracking system than the one provided. The game could probably be modified but it would take a lot of work.

I dont like VP in games. Here its another component of the game - high reputation has different effect than low reputation. Very smart, very clever. And like that is whole game.
