The PressPan - A Hasselblad Xpan Alternative

As far as alternatives to the Hasselblad Xpan go, the PressPan has got to be one of the coolest! This particular model was made from a broken Nikon FE, so a conversion like this gave it a new life as a working camera, instead of a display piece.
The camera was designed and built by Freeman, and if you like the camera and want to see more of his work, please check him out on Instagram @watchmemake or visit his website trastic.com/
At approximately 1/5 the price of a Hasselblad Xpan (in the current 2023 market), the PressPan is still not a cheapest option, but definitely worth considering should you come across an otherwise irreparable Nikon FE body.
For a more in-depth look at the PressPan, you can check out my first impressions review of the camera at the link below:

I'm glad this kind of alternatives are becoming available. The XPan is definitely too much money for a time bomb waiting to fail on you
On god, it sucks a fully mechanical version of that thing doesnt exist
You can just use any medium format camera with a $15 adapter to turn it into an xpan basically. I do this with my 2x3 crown graphic and it’s great. If I need something wider I use my hasselblad 500cm with a 50mm lens which is similar to the 45mm on the xpan
@@resiyunnot as compact as xpan, though. Well, I guess my closest to ideal alternative is Bronica ETR with the 35mm film back
@@anta40 no, but I’d take a bigger camera and save myself $6000.
@@resiyun I just remember there's Mamiya 7 has a 35 adapter kit. Ah, not cheap sadly. Of course, there are some custom made XPans, but they are bulky-ish. And no idea if they support interchangebale lens. Fortunately: much cheaper. Well, depends on how far you are willing to compromise
Man now this is something I’d buy!
Panoramic beast!
LOVE
This is amazing 😮😮
Cool!👍
Nah, this a straight up steampunk bioshock camera right thar!
If you make a leader for it you can save some film.
I can't believe I've never thought about this before, but you are so right! Thank you for the tip, I'll use it in the future!
Thanks for watching! ❤️
It's ALIVE!! Frankensnap lives!!
Coolest thing I see for a while.
Well done!
Epic images
I Lovely mamiya lens.
This is sick
Cut up Nikon FE 😱 but it was so worth it. Outstanding job, beautiful images!
It was broken beyond repair and would have been a shelf queen until I rescued it, so now it's a functioning camera again! Thank you so much!
wow
nice, but my Texpan-Shots are wider... with full focusing.. but really nice DIY cam! 👍
3D printing for the win 🤌🏼🔥❤️
The Mamiya Press lenses like the 50mm 75mm 100mm and 127mm are very sharp on 6x7 ,
The shots look like movies!!
Thanks Monica! I don't shoot with this camera nearly as much as I should, but this has gotten me inspired again!
Cool! Did you make this?
Looks so massive, and not sure it's comfort to use, but I hope you have fun with that camera 😅
First I’ve ever seen anyone actually modifying their cameras. God I don’t even have enough money for my 4x4 upgrades now I gotta get into the world of 6x7 upgrades too?!
Where can I get one!!
Hi, what is the title of this song, and by who? Thanks in advance.
Do you focus by the old method of guessing the distance or hyper focal focusing?
A little bit of both actually, depending on the shot! I mean, most of the time my subjects are far enough away that I can just focus to infinity and be done with it. But if I'm shooting at smaller apertures (f/16 - f/32), it's much easier to use hyper focal focusing, and you know your whole frame (or enough of it) is sharp anyways. For f/6.3 and f/8, I tend to rely more on guessing the exact distance, and after some practice, I've gotten pretty good at it.
Thanks for watching! ❤️
Song name?
That poor FE.... Don't get me wrong that is some excellent work you've done there. But Its got to be cheaper to just get an MF camera and a 35mm adapter at that point?
This is a design(and I assume build?) from watch me make, not sure why you didn’t mention that
It is made by Freeman, and I mentioned that in my description to this short, the full-length video I did, and the article I wrote for Emulsive! I'm happy to hear that his work is getting recognized!! ❤️
**want.
The only film camera i would really love since its that heavily modified
But the lens options are pretty limited i guess?
Tf you talking about THIS is the lens you use it with
I’d love to know what song this is lol

I always put the song title to my shorts in the description, but I do admit this one was a little buried in the rest of the info!
Why are my negatives covered in plastic specs? At least clean the camera for the video.
People will do everything except shoot a gw690
Different strokes for different folks!
Double stroke bc if its 3 or more youre playing with it 😂
Nooooooooooooooooooo. You body. Nikon... visor. Leica lenss.. mamiya. híbrido...
